Casera Latin Kitchen: A Hidden Gem Unveiled
My recent encounter with Casera Latin Kitchen during a delightful event organized by Audrey and the team left an indelible mark on my culinary journey. Nestled unassumingly, this eatery proved to be a hidden gem that I might have overlooked if not for the serendipitous occasion.
From the moment I stepped foot into the restaurant, I was struck by its pristine cleanliness and impeccable organization. The tastefully curated decor accentuated the dining space, enhancing the overall ambiance and setting the stage for a memorable experience. The transparent display of pastries, drinks, and empanadas further enticed me, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the freshness and variety that awaited.
The welcoming atmosphere was matched only by the exemplary customer service I received. From the warm greetings to the detailed explanations of flavors and spices, every interaction was infused with genuine hospitality. A delightful surprise came in the form of a complimentary pork empanada, a thoughtful gesture that underscored the exceptional service ethos of Casera Latin Kitchen.
Now, onto the pièce de résistance – the food. Opting for the beef Lomo Saltado and Peruvian Chaufa Rice with fries, I was met with generous portion sizes that surpassed expectations. The beef, expertly seasoned and cooked to a perfect medium, melted in my mouth with each savory bite. The accompanying thick and crispy fries provided a satisfying crunch, elevating the dish to new heights.
However, it was the Peruvian Chaufa Rice that stole the show. As a newcomer to this culinary delight, I was astounded by the explosion of flavors that greeted my taste buds. The rice, flawlessly cooked and infused with a harmonious blend of spices, showcased a perfect balance of taste and texture, leaving me craving for more.
In conclusion, Casera Latin Kitchen not only delighted my palate with its scrumptious offerings but also captivated me with its inviting ambiance and impeccable service. My heartfelt thanks to Audrey and the entire team for curating a truly memorable dining experience. If you're looking for a taste of authentic Latin cuisine in a warm, inviting atmosphere, look no further than Casera Latin Kitchen and Bakery. Owned and operated by a delightful brother and sister duo, this gem of a restaurant in Oceanside quickly became a favorite of mine.
The moment you step inside, you're greeted with genuine smiles and a welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home. The owners' passion for their craft is evident in every detail, from the charming decor to the meticulously crafted menu items.
Now, let's talk about the food. Everything at Casera is made from scratch, and you can truly taste the difference. I had the pleasure of trying their empanadas, and they were nothing short of spectacular. I sampled both a fried and a baked empanada, and each had its own unique, delicious flavor. The fried empanada was crispy and perfectly golden, while the baked one was flaky and light. Both were filled with generous portions of savory goodness.
The sauces at Casera are another highlight. I tried their tangy tomato vinegar sauce, which added a perfect zing to the empanadas. The yellow spicy sauce was a revelation—just the right amount of heat to complement the flavors without overwhelming them.
Though I didn't get a chance to try them this time, they also offer yucca fries, which I can't wait to sample on my next visit. If they're anything like the rest of the menu, I know they'll be fantastic.
Casera Latin Kitchen and Bakery is a wonderful addition to the culinary scene in Oceanside. The combination of friendly, personal service and outstanding, homemade food makes it a must-visit. Whether you're a local or just passing through, make sure to stop by and experience the magic for yourself. You won't be...

The Columbian coffee is one of the best coffees I have ever had!! The machine is a drip style directly from Columbia.
Everything is made in-house and I recommend the buffet so you can try some of each dish. The empenadas are amazing and there is vegetarian as well as baked and dried options (I prefer the fried beef one but having tried each flavor and prep type they are all extraordinary).
I have not had a chance to try each bakery and dessert offering because of the amount of offerings they have is voluminous. I can't remember the name of the particular cheese bread (it is round and crunchy) but it is my favorite as well as the anise flavored rolled one. The flan was so amazing that the first time I went it sold out while I was eating my lunch. However, on my second visit the owner and his family made sure to have more (I may have hinted to them that I was sad to miss out the first visit... What great customer service!!) and it was so good I bought 5 servings. I went on Wednesday and I can report that all but 1 serving has been consumed and it is 12:12 am on Friday morning. Not sure piece number 5 is going to make it in my work lunch later today.
The servings are generous, the prices are inexpensive, the decor is simple but impactful. The hot sauce is scrumptious (it is a secret family recipe that I hope they start bottling). The staff care about their food and about the guests. The owner Luis gave me a tour and I learned a lot about a cuisine I wasn't overly familiar with. I was helped at the counter by Luis' sister and by his girlfriend Monica as well as Luis and I couldn't ask for better service!
Highly recommend as you can tell!! Check it out, you...
