One Love Island Cuisine is Oceansideās one & only Jamaican food spot. Because I was raised in the Caribbean islands, I can say that this place is pretty accurate to the flavors it represents.
One Love Island Cuisine is centrally located inland, just off of Oceanside Blvd, east of College Blvd and within the Rancho Del Oro Shopping Plaza. If you drive passed Aldiās, you went too far.
The one major thing I dislike about this plaza is that parking is always right here and is a nightmare when itās busy. Although itās not One Loveās Cuisineās fault, unfortunately it does factor-in my experience coming to dine at their establishment.
Their interior is very simple and has a few island decorative pieces and pictures. I like that they have Caribbean-inspired music playing. The interior is a little small though and not the best for large groups.
One Love Cuisineās menu has a lot of island favorites in it. Some of my favorites are the simple pĆ¢tĆ©s and I love that they have seasoned beef (a touch spicy), chicken & veggie (spinach).
For those who are looking for a more complete dish, I highly recommend their oxtail plate. It is seasoned to perfection & youāll want to lap-up all of the gravy until the plate is dry. I recall it being on a nice-spice heat level.
Their jerk chicken is also delicious and spiced well. The peas & rice are a nice compliment.
Iāll always recommend getting a side of sweet plantain (fried bananas) with ANY plate. The sweet-to-heat flavor profile is immaculate!
One of my difficulties Iāve always had with One Love Cuisine is that when I used to attempt to call my order in-advance, the phone would just ring and wouldnāt even go to voicemail. Iām guessing theyāre busy and canāt just get to the phone. But itās sad they donāt have an answering system to have them take orders or return calls. Sometimes I would call just to confirm they were Open and I never knew what to think when they didnāt answer their phone.
I recommend getting a TING grapefruit soda with your order and lookout for the saltfish & ackee ā¤ļø

Ā Ā Ā Read moreFound myself in Oceanside this past weekend trying to get away from SD proper and decided to stop here after trying their wings and plantains a couple of months ago at a gathering. The catered wings were so perfectly seasoned and spicy. My partner and I have been talking about them ever since!
This time around we ordered 3 plates of jerk chicken (spicy) and a spicy beef entree. This place was POPPIN when we pulled up so I expected a wait but still expected my order to be correct of course.
When I go to pick up the lady called out the order by asking if I got one order of beef and three chickens, so I knew we were going to be squared away! We get to our friends house to sit down and eat...and there were four chicken plates! :( I was so excited to try the beef.... pretty bummed about the order being incorrect, but still plan to go back because the food and service is overall good. Just wished my order was correct from the beginning.
Note to self (and everyone else): Check your orders before you leave lol. No matter how...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time walking into this spot, and let me just sayāwhat an experience! I came in to try the oxtails, and they did not disappoint. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender, flavorful, and not overly fatty. Paired with the Jamaican rice, which was soft and fluffy, it was perfection.
The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff shows true hospitality, making you feel right at home. I also tried one of their Jamaican drinksārefreshing and packed with flavor, definitely a must-have! The empanadas with spiced meat had just the right kick to balance everything out.
If I had one small critique, it would be the plantainsāI think if they made them fresh to order, it would take them to the next level.
Overall though, this place is a gem in Oceanside. Pricing is fair, portions are generous, and the food quality is phenomenal. For me, itās a strong 9.2/10 and an easy 5/5 stars. If youāre craving authentic Jamaican food, this is THE spot...
