Franchise all the way. Prefer the Mom and Pop Colombian Restaurants in the area. Since the shop wants me to expand I will.
Decor is not warm and unique, but like a Colombian McDonald’s. I doubt you’d understand this but have to tell it anyways.
The desserts are typical of pre-delivered mass scaled treats, where at best you add a touch of whip cream. If you are actually making them from scratch, then you might want to rethink your approach.
Your cheese breads are good but pale in comparison to the daily baked bread of the Colombian bakery less than 2 miles up the road.
The oils and butter alone on your breakfast items will kill you off quick. My hands could barely grasp my steering wheel.
The people behind the counters are OK, no gripes with them. Just your poor business model.
And most importantly, first you allow dogs and even have water bowls inside, then one day you post a service dog only sign. Probably because some non-animal loving narcissistic d-bags complained. You can’t start something like this and take it away. And screw hiding behind the food & safety laws on this. If it was truly a health issue, service dogs wouldn’t...
Read moreI've been a fan of Mecatos Bakery for a while now, and I've visited several locations. However, my recent experience at one of their locations was disappointing, to say the least.
The male employee from Valencia, Venezuela, provided extremely poor customer service. When I mentioned my country of origin, he made derogatory comments about my culture, which was not only unprofessional but also hurtful. To make matters worse, when I asked for a small cup of water, he denied me, and even when I asked for a cup of ice to take my medicine, he didn't seem to care.
The coffee table was dirty, and the female employees seemed unenthusiastic, with one of them almost tossing our food on the table. There were no napkins or utensils provided, and no one explained where I could find them.
As a business owner myself, I understand the importance of good customer service. A single employee's behavior can significantly impact the reputation of a business. I hope Mecatos Bakery takes steps to address these issues and provides better training...
Read moreSo glad we stopped here for dinner! Wanted to try somewhere new in Ocoee, this has been our favorite restaurant so far! Tons of options on the menu from breakfast to dinner and desserts. We both got an iced coffee, very bold flavor as I'd expect from Colombia! Our food was outstanding - we both got Arepas, I got a Carne Asada and my friend got Eggs & Chorizo.
The Arepa was like a rich, corn-flour biscuit, like the best home-made biscuit I've ever had! Stuffed full of cheese and steak, it was the perfect dinner. I also tried a piece of my friend's Chorizo and want to go back for more! We also took home a Guava Pastry for dessert later, of course it was delicious. There are so many amazing desserts on display, it would take months to try them all!
Service was excellent and the interior was spotlessly clean and welcoming. Mecato's Bakery & Cafe is a wonderful asset to the Orlando community. I recommend them any time of day and will be a...
