I had high hopes for Takumi Sushi, especially given its reputation for sushi, but my experience left much to be desired. While the sushi is actually quite good, the rest of the menu falls short. I dined with my family one evening and ordered hibachi, which wasn’t terrible but was definitely below average—I've had much better elsewhere. To make matters worse, it was served cold.
Service was another major issue. Our server was hardly present, making it difficult to get simple things like napkins or to-go boxes. The wait time for our food was around 35 minutes, which was frustrating, especially with a small child at the table. When it came time to pay, we had to wait an excessive amount of time for the check—an inconvenience made worse by the fact that my boyfriend was feeling sick and we wanted to leave. That being said, we didn’t fully blame our server, as the restaurant was packed and she appeared to be the only one working.
As a former employee, I can say that the management here is terrible. They garnished my tips, offered to pay me only $5 an hour without tips during training (which I accepted out of desperation), and expected extensive side work at the end of shifts, including cleaning the bathrooms. While I didn’t mind the cleaning itself, I was rushed through tasks like mopping because they only had one mop and others needed to use it. Additionally, I had to call off twice due to illness and childcare issues, which I felt bad about, but what really sealed my negative opinion was how I was treated after a hurricane. I was told that the restaurant lost power and I’d be back on the schedule once things were normal again—but I was ghosted instead. Despite reaching out multiple times, I never received a response.
Overall, this place is poorly managed and treats employees unfairly. The sushi/poke bowls is the only saving grace, but with mediocre food and unreliable service, I wouldn’t...
Read moreSince I am being accused of lying here if proof I was offered $5 an hour no tip for training. YES this was CORRECTED but as I said this is what I was offered and that is not defamation it is a fact on paper and quite unprofessional. To further clarify, when I worked my first training shift I worked under the pretense that I was being paid $5 an hour. The people who make checks informed you that it was illegal and it was corrected for my first paycheck. Also please learn basic comprehension I never said having to clean was too much, it was being rushed to do so much work on my first nightshift working alone that I didn’t appreciate. I have not said anything I don’t have proof of. You gave me credit card receipts and wrote what percent of my tips was garnished from each one and I can upload those as well if you still feel I am trying to defame you. I just want anyone who considers working here to be more aware of their rights as a server than I was and not be taken advantage of. Perhaps your professional lawyers can inform you what the definition of “tip garnishing” is. I’m not sure what is meant by the “legal way” as leaving a review of my personal, true experience somewhere is not illegal… What I am getting at is simply what any review is getting at: to share my experience...
Read moreExtra star for the service as they were decently nice.
Food was mediocre, we love hibachi, noodles, and Poke bowls a lot but this place is definitely a place to try for one time and that’s it. If we did the same at home, food is going to be way tastier. Compared to any place we have tried in Dr. Philips, Winter Garden, and in Windermere, Takumi was less than any of these places by way far. Appetizers were bland, we tried Tofu (which to be honest always bland) but crab was not the taste of crab at all, it had a texture and taste of fish and some of the few pieces you get were tasteless. Noodles was okay, home made noodles or any other place were again WAY tastier. Eggs that were added on top came as one small piece of omelet on top, well done which is a huge mistake because in should have been like sunny side up or you poke it to get yolk out into ur noodles, that was noted while ordering (both noodles with eggs were the same wrong omelet egg) HUGE mistake. Poke bowl was average as well, wouldn’t crave it from this place. Otherwise, the large size is huge which is something nice. We asked if we get large, would we get extra protein or topics, we were told no, u pay extra for X-Large to get more broth in bigger size bowl so we went...
