Stopped to try for lunch on a Sunday just after 12:00 pm today. Since it was our first time, we grabbed a couple menus and had a seat to figure out what we wanted. Ended up ordering a couple appetizers (dumplings and mini-egg rolls), the shrimp pho, special beef pho, and the chicken and shrimp fried rice with jumbo egg roll. Bowls came out with a plate of bean sprouts, sliced jalapeños, basil, culantro, and wedges of lime. Broth was piping hot and plenty of garnish. Hoisin, sriracha, chili paste, and chili oil were on the table so you could determine your preferred spice level. Apps came out about the same time, and were delicious. We liked the dumplings (order of 5) and their sweet sauce and minced pork filling. The egg rolls (what I’d seen called “Spring Rolls” elsewhere, order of 6) were crispy outside with a soft inside. Fried rice usually comes with beef and shrimp but we were able to sub in chicken (dark meat) for the beef. Would have preferred white meat chicken for the dish, but it was still very good. Service was at the counter but they brought everything out to us. Everyone seemed very nice and pleasant. As we ate, the place filled up. A couple larger groups, several families, and couples. There aren’t many Vietnamese places close by in the area for us, so I’m glad we tried it. We’ll be back! My one critique is that after lunch we planned to order some drinks to go. The Pomelo Cloud drinks were all unavailable, even though the printed menu showed them. Little disappointed for that, but it would have been the icing...
Read moreI visited today for the first time because I was seriously craving banh mi. We ordered the pork banh mi, cheese fries, and spring rolls. The food was all genuinely fantastic and fresh, but I have to admit I was slightly disappointed in the flavor profile of the banh mi. It just didn’t have the same taste that all other pork banh mi I’ve had, HAD, so it didn’t satisfy my craving. That is NOT to say it’s not good, because it was delicious as a “not what I expected” sandwich. The spring rolls had an excellent peanut sauce and a GREAT strong basil flavor!! The cheese fries were just cheese fries but I mean who doesn’t love that?
However… I have never in my life had bread as good as the bread on this banh mi. They have to be making it fresh in house or sourcing it from a local bakery. It was absolutely insane how good this bread was. There was a perfect crust on this baguette and it was so hot and steamy when you bit into it, it had the perfect amount of bite. Ugh. It was really effing good bread.
I would recommend visiting this place if you want really delicious Vietnamese cuisine without having to travel all the way to Winter Park! It’s great to have a local restaurant like The Fifth District that covers all of the best parts of Vietnamese food. The milk tea looked delicious as well if that’s something...
Read moreThis is hands down one of the BEST vietnamese restaurants we have been to in the western Orlando area.
The interior is kept very clean and nicely decorated. They always have jazz music playing in the background which adds to the atmosphere. Service has always been quick and friendly.
The food is phenomenal here. The pho of course is one of the mainstays of this restaurant and it does not disappoint. Generous servings of meat and noodles in one of the best tasting pho broths in town. Even the way the scallions are sliced for the soup is elegant. We also highly recommend trying the grilled pork sub or "banh mi." After trying it just once here we now MUST get it every time we visit! The bread has a crunchy crust yet perfectly chewy texture within; the grilled pork flavor is amazing; the sauce is tangy and the vegetable toppings are fresh (the jalapeno is quite spicy which we enjoy). Absolute perfection!
People of Orlando, this restaurant deserves your business. Let's keep supporting them and keep this...
