Upon walking in, the place was very clean. The tables and booths all looked nice, and the atmosphere was pleasant. Not to mention the fast service. The food was brought out insanely quickly, faster than a lot of other places I’ve been. The waitress was very nice and hastily got us everything we needed. As well, we were seated sooner than I expected for a Saturday evening. Our food was great as well. The portions of all the plates were perfect for a party of three, including a grown man who is practically a human garbage disposal.
TL;DR — A normal Chinese takeout restaurant. Nothing too special or life-changing, but still a pleasant visit and warm meal. Good portions, food, & service. Maybe just add some sweet & sour sauce with the wonton appetizer.
Crab Cheese Wontons: 8/10. The wontons from here are pretty good. Filled with crab and cheese, they’re golden and crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. They would be better if they came with some red sauce, as I always enjoy dipping them in that (pictured is the sauce that came with the egg roll appetizer). However, they were a good starter either way. It’s hard to mess them up.
Potstickers: 9/10. I love the potstickers from here as well. They have some vegetables and meat stuffed in them, and their wrap is extremely soft to the touch. Paired with the sauce they come with, they’re a nice light start to the meal. The inside was a bit more crunchy and veggie filled than I initially expected, but it didn’t take much away from the experience.
Egg Roll: 8/10. I’m typically not a big egg roll fan, but the egg rolls here are surprisingly tasty. It was more of a spring roll than an egg roll weirdly enough, which might be why I enjoyed it more than usual. Anyway, the inside was really nice. There’s a creamy filling that goes great with the sweet and sour sauce that comes with it. It’s thick but doesn’t skimp on any stuffing. A pretty solid egg spring roll in total.
Hot & Sour Soup: 9/10. The soup was great. Its consistency was thick, and the flavoring was very rich and warm, with the perfect amount of spice. It was a great portion before eating everything else, and the spice level was just as I wanted. I’m typically not a fan of mushrooms, so like other dishes containing mushroom, I didn’t think I would totally finish it. However, I found myself cleaning the bowl and scraping the bottom, even with my appetizers right next to me. A great classic of American-Chinese cuisine that Chopstix does well.
General Tsao’s Chicken: 8/10. I’m glad I ordered this extra spicy, because the normal one would have not been hot enough. This was saucy and tangy, holding a piquancy that left my lips tingling. The chicken mixed with chili paste and soy sauce was even better than the Tso’s just by itself. Overall, it was a satisfying and decadent entree. It was filling, hot, and what I expected in a General Tso’s meal.
Moo Goo Gai Pan: 7/10. This was primary my parents’ order, so I didn’t eat much. However, I did have a few pieces of chicken. The meat is tender and juicy, not too saucy while still remaining soft and mellow in terms of flavor. Not my favorite dish since I prefer my Chinese takeout on the tangy and richer side, but this was a good option that was probably healthier than most other things that had been ordered.
Sesame Mochi Balls: 4/10. These sesame ball mochi aren’t my cup of tea. They’re much less sweet than I expected. That’s my fault though, the past ones I’ve had were much more saccharine. They certainly have a sesame taste to them, the name doesn’t lie. The dough has a slight tinge of something sugary to it, but the bean paste is much more natural and almost earthy in flavor. This isn’t my kind of dessert, but it’ll be much more appreciated by those who don’t like sugar-coated things to end off a meal.
Dessert Wontons: ?/10. I neither eat nor like chocolate. However, my parents found it alright. My parents finished one each, leaving one remaining. It was on the house, which was generous of Chopstix to do. It seemed to be...
Read moreIt makes me sad to have to say this because I used to love this place but now I would never go back to this restaurant again. When we first entered the restaurant the Manager greeted us by not looking at us and was quite short tempered. I do not know if It is that we are a minority and she did not want us at her restaurant or if she just runs her business this way. We left with the food and tried not to be effected by her bad service. When we got home we noticed that the soup that we got was not made right. I have worked with food most of my life and take pride in using my knowledge to professional inform and educate individuals about quality food. Like I said previously, this was one of my favorite places so I know this soup very well. It was obvious that the cook did not make the soup right. It was a mix of way too much vinegar as well as being bland from missing ingredients. It also tasted like there might have been a cleaner accidentally spilled into it. When we asked to return the soup and inform her of our concerns so she might not want to feed it to others, she mocked us and asked if the hot and sour soup was just too sour. She was so unprofessional and I will not be going back. If you are thinking of trying the place, I would be concerned about the possibility that they may not be handling the food right. Some one is going to get sick at this place. I would give zero stars if this page...
Read moreI was very dissatisfied with this meal. First off I had to have them redo the sweet and sour as I asked her to put the sauce on the side. Then when they did i noticed the chicken when I got home and realized why they do that. It's because they use fried chicken that's previously frozen rather than tempura covered chicken, which would be typical for Chinese food restaurant. Plus the chicken was very dry. The way that the food was packed it made it to where the sauce was leaking out of the box and it got all over my car by the time I got home half the sauce leaked out of the box. Plus I find out that they give you a thing of soup with one salad. So I guess it's soup for two salad for one which doesn't make any sense to me. And I would have thought that they would have done the salad dressing separate when you're taking it to go. The other dishes the Kung pow is decent but the barbecue pork is probably the one that the sauce leaked out because it was kind of bland. The amount of food just did not seem enough for almost $80. In checking other restaurants, I saw that other places were a lot less expensive and give you more food as well as they make it fresh and I don't get frozen remade fried chicken. I have eaten at the chopsticks in Farmington and next time I think I will go there. I thought this was a sister company but obviously not. Completely...
