Nice people, bad experience...
Brought my family of 5 in on a Friday evening at 6:00. Business inside was relatively slow(3-5 other patrons) and only a couple carryout orders trickling in.
We were promptly sat about 3 feet from an employed repairing/vansishing a bookshelf.
Vegetable pakora was good. Chai tea was unremarkable, other than the cost to quality/portion ratio is off.
We ordered two orders of chicken makani and a saag paneer. Instead of the paneer, I was brought out, what i learned was shahi paneer. I'd immediately asked about it, indicating there was no spinach and didn't understand. I had the man show me on the menu what I allegedly ordered, to which he justified it wasn't his mistake because he asked me if I wanted raisins in it. Clearly I didn't get what I wanted...
He offered to get me a saag paneer, but his tone and verbiage was indicative that it was my fault and that it'd be additional. I know what I said. It was his mistake...
$54 for 3 bowls of virtually the same damn thing. Lesson learned I guess?
This was all 'fine' until they only brought 4 portions of rice for 5 grown people. My family was halfway done with their meals before they'd began addressing it, but were met with me putting on my coat and leaving the building.
I refuse to join my family halfway through their meal, only to in turn have them sit and wait for me to rush and finish mine.
They happily allowed my wife to pay full price for everything, offering absolutely no apologies or resolution for THEIR mistake.
Edit: After leaving this review, I've seen how they respond to negative reviews, and it seems they continue to hold firm that the customers are always confused or the misunderstanding is somehow not their fault, let alone their responsibility to amend.
Keep the half-apologies, we...
Read moreAs a local guide and top reviewer, I recently had the pleasure of dining at Amar India and was thoroughly impressed by the amazing service from the Sandhu family, Guwinder the host, and her father the amazingly talented cook are doing such a fantastic job here. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality was unparalleled and deserves far more recognition than it likely receives.
The food was nothing short of exceptional, with an expertly crafted menu featuring a range of delicious and authentic Indian dishes. The flavors were bold and well-balanced, making each bite a memorable experience.
However, while the food and service were both exceptional, the interior of the restaurant is in need of some attention. In today's fast-paced world, customers want the whole experience when dining out and the lack of updates to the interior leaves something to be desired. I hope the owner takes the time to read this review and invests in modernizing the dine-in atmosphere to match the quality of the food and service.
In conclusion, Amar India - North, is a hidden gem in the Indian dining scene and their best location hands down. The food and service are truly outstanding and should not be missed. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic and memorable...
Read moreI had Mali kofta. Unfortunately, they have been prepared and sitting around for a while because when I would cut into them they wouldn't crumble like they're supposed to. They actually were like an Easter egg made of chocolate, the outer shell remained intact. It was very dense, dry, and no flavor. The sauce was good, and I asked for a naan with extra garlic but it was just a normal garlic. Staff was great, my waiter was wonderful there was an Indian family in there that allowed their children to run wild and scream at the top of their lungs. I asked the manager to ask them to quiet their children and fortunately they took them outside. So all was good except for the Mali kofta balls. After the family left, the manager came to me and apologized, but also at the same sense made him excuse for them because they were a family. When I was growing up, and we started acting up, my father would take us out of the restaurant until we settle down. My brothers did the same thing with their children. Overall the...
