Late on 6/29/17 I took my mom to the Hampton inn to get a room for the night. The woman working the front desk was VERY RUDE!!! If it had not been so late ( about 1am) and we hadn't been so exhausted, I would have told her to " you know what " and would have left! Once we had the room paid for she was slightly more pleasant, but not much. Now, I was with my mom for a good couple of hours or so after we got to her room so I do know what I am talking about in this review.
Pros: The room was VERY nice! It was very clean, had enough towels, soap, etc... She was in a single occupancy with a king size bed. It had a clean neatly made bed, very nice drapes that can block out the sun or bright lights at night. The A/C cooled off the room quickly and quietly. The noise level from other guests was zero! Walking down the hallway you could faintly hear others laughing etc and it was when you got right next to their door. You also didn't notice the sounds from the highway so was nice and peaceful. The elevators were clean and ran very smoothly. The card keys work first time every time! There is free hot breakfast which my mom said was very good. I would definitely stay there and so glad that I could find my mom such a great place to stay for the night!
Cons: If you want a cold glass of water out of the faucet, you can forget it. The cold water isn't THAT cold! So, fill up your ice bucket when you get in your room or put bottled water in the mini fridge. The ice machine is pretty loud but gives out nice big pieces of ice that taste great.
Over all, great price ($119 plus tax etc) so came out around $140. Well worth the price for as nice as this Hampton inn is. The lady that checked my mom out (notice that I didn't call the night woman a lady) couldn't have been any nicer or sweeter. She was warm and friendly and treated us respectfully. They just need to get rid of the rude night desk clerk!! She's the only reason that I didn't give a five star rating!
My mom stayed there again on 7/3/2017. The lady that works the front desk at night was MUCH nicer this time!! Did have some trouble finding our reservation but didn't take too long to get checked in. The night clerk made sure we had everything that we needed. I'm raising my rating to all 5 stars now since we didn't have a bad experience this time. We definitely would stay...
Read moreWe booked this hotel based on reviews that we had read. We arrived much later than we had hoped due to the huge storm. We called to make sure that they knew that we were in fact still coming, but Amanda at the front desk offered for us to cancel without penalty if we wanted to. We eventually made our way to the hotel, and Amanda greeted us with a huge smile and a friendly greeting that helped us all to settle in after a long and cold drive.
After a fairly good night's sleep, we started our day with a wonderful visit with Debbie at breakfast. She made sure to look after everyone, but made time to chat with us and share some of her recipes (Debbie's scrambled eggs, and a simple but delicious chili). At the front desk, Stacy let us know that there were extra snow scrapers available to us. Each time we were in and out of the hotel for snow clearing and loading up our car, she always had words of greeting and encouragement. We also had smiles from a few of the custodial staff who were hard at work keeping the floors clear and clean from the snow being brought in by many patrons who were clearing off their cars. The staff was truly amazing, and their positive attitude and cheerful spirits certainly made our stay even better.
The hotel itself has clearly been recently renovated. It is beautiful, modern, and clean. Our room was very big (junior suite?), and allowed our sons to each have their own bed. While the water pressure in the shower wasn't stellar, the bathroom was very clean and functional. We were appreciative of the second sink in the kitchenette area, as it allowed us to have more than one person brushing their teeth at the same time.
We would stay here again in a heartbeat. It seems that the negative reviews are either a fluke or a difference of expectations. This is a wonderful...
Read moreAfter spending the price night at the Charlotte Hampton inn, this was almost like night and day. Whereas the Charlotte inn had an unusable, covered, outdoor pool, this one had a clean, fresh smelling indoor pool with a comfortable water temp. The front desk employee is so very important, because they lay the groundwork for your stay. It is their attitude which often dictates whether your stay will be a pleasant one or not. Gary at the front desk, didn't disappoint. He was open, cheerful, lively, and jovial. He gave us nothing free, but made for a really easy and open reception. Beyond Gary in the pool, the hotel was neat, clean, and inviting. I never felt uncomfortable walking about there was coffee and delicious cookies in the lobby, as well as coffee makers in the rooms. There was even a gathering done with tables and comfy chairs agave the lobby, where a morning breakfast was served. The breakfast itself, although not an overly indulgent buffet, was well stocked with enough variety for many walls of life. The morning u was there, they served mini cheese omelets, sausage, toast, bagels, oatmeal, waffles, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, cereal, and coffee. If you left this place hungry, it was your own fault. Also, this place is right on a main thoroughfare, so there was easy access to restaurants, and stores. The only reason for the lacking star in my rating, is that it lacks certain amenities I prefer. A hot tub, bar area, and an in-house restaurant and/or room service would complete the ticket. However considering what it offered, it was very nice. I don't know when I'll pass through Dayton again, but if I make a stop, it most likely will be...
