El Toro Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Ohio

We really wanted to like this place more than we did. The atmosphere was so much fun, vibrant, and felt lively. We were really excited the minute we stepped in the door.

And that is as far as we had to get before it started to fall apart. We stood there for about 10 minutes while servers walked around us, and the person at the reception area was busy doing something on the computer in front of her. Never even tried to make eye contact with us.

Finally, she turned and yelled at a group of servers and told one to get over and seat us. So he did.

We sat for another 20 minutes before our server came to take our order. That was the last time we saw him. Food was delivered by another person, and that was the end of service.

The food was incredibly disappointing. I LOOKED good, but I can only describe the cheese in the chile relleno as processed, and the tortillas as generic. Honestly, some of the worst Mexican food I have had in a while.

After waiting another good 20 minutes after we were finished and no sign of the waiter, I got up and went back to the host stand while she continued to ignore me. FINALLY someone walked up and asked what I needed and I simply said, "to pay for my food."

He found our server, and the server came over and handed me the check, with no apology, or even a care. And although this place was ripe for someone to dine-and-dash, I did the right thing and paid the $60 bill, and we left.

As we were walking to the car my husband informed me that while I was trying to pay, the man at the table next to us was telling the server that he refused to pay for his food because it was so awful and they had waited for so long.

So we weren't the only ones not happy with the establishment.

Not sure why there are such high reviews here, but I would say stay away and hit the chili...

First, the menu cards given were dirty. All menu card had either piece of tortilla chips or salsa stuck to it and was all sticky. Second, we ordered our food with very specific instructions not to include any meat, seafood, beef or egg in the food. We told food should be vegetarian. The server confirmed to this. When we got the food, it had egg in it. I was confused and had another bite and it tasted something different and the server told it is an egg. We were shocked and asked the server and confirmed that it is egg since this dish cannot be prepared with egg and he told so casually that just remove the egg and eat the food. I explained to him that we are vegetarians, we have never eaten any meat/egg because of some religious beliefs. The server was ignorant and we had to call the manager. We were so pissed off and told clearly that we cannot eat the food here since now we are not sure whether other food has egg or not. We clearly told Manager that we cannot eat the food and we will not pay the bill. We could have paid the bill for the item which did not contain any egg but Manager was extremely rude, he threatened us that he will call Police and that get out of the restaurant and never come back. I was just going to write the review about how poor management was after my card was charged twice but let’s get into the full story. Came on a Wednesday at 6, didn’t end up leaving until around 8:30 because our waiter basically kept forgetting about us. We were sitting outside but the inside wasn’t busy at all on a random Wednesday night. Then I notice there’s a charge pending for the total of our bill, fine, but there was also an additional charge of $25 pending. I waited until Friday hoping that additional charge would fix itself. It did not so I came in person on Sunday to speak to a manager. Despite showing him both of my bank statements he proceeded to accuse me of going to a different restaurant and basically undermined everything I was saying to him. Thankfully after going through the trash my husband was able to find the receipt and send a pic while I was in front of the manager, and then the manager tries to laugh it off and says since my card was left at the checkout station by my waiter, someone ran my card for another persons meal.
