To preface, I am from Pittsburgh and grew up eating Steak N Shake and was devastated when they all closed in my area. The Frisco Melt at SnS is the best fast food burger I've ever had and I stand by that. Freddy's grilled cheese steak burger is a good competitor though. The bread is fluffier and overall less greasy. Personally I am not a fan of American cheese so that is downfall for me. I enjoyed the side options, I got onion rings and they were good. My husband got the double cheeseburger and immediately said that he preferred SnS that we had earlier in the week. The fries were almost identical to SnS except for the seasoning which was very good. Freddy's has a special sauce that complimented both the fries and onion rings. The fall specials of frozen custard were amazing.
We spent $40 on two meals + two concretes
The atmosphere is much better at Freddy's. The restaurant is cleaner and more inviting. The history on the walls is fun to read and the bathrooms are beautifully maintained for fast food. In terms of service, we walked in and there were no other customers but yet it took it good while before someone came over and when she did we didn't feel very welcomed. I was confused too that a number was called for our food, which totally fine, but the two people that ordered after us both had their trays delivered to their booths.
Overall, I think it's a good competitor to Steak N Steak. If I lived in the area I could see me eating at Freddy's again, but as a Pittsburgh resident, it's not likely I'll be back when Steak N Shake is...
Read moreVery put off. Had an issue a few months back with employees using fowl language very loudly. Tonight I went in with my husband and my nephew and some of his friends. The cashier was rude off the bat asking everyone to wear masks. We are completely okay with wearing them. She demanded very rudely that my husband pull his mask up or she was refusing service. He then told me what he wanted and waited outside. As he was waiting one of my boys noticed that there were several employees in the back of the restaurant either not wearing a mask or wearing it improper. My husband decided to call and explain that he didn’t feel it was right for them to demand we wear one of the employees aren’t. She then proceeded to say that because they are in the back of the house and the grill is hot they don’t have to wear one. Absolutely not. They are preparing food. There were some other words exchanged and an employee in the back was motioning to “meet out back and fight” the restaurant decided to call the sheriff on US. We were all eating our food, minding our business after the situation was well over and the sheriff asked us to leave per the restaurant. All of this could have been avoided if they would have just had the right attitude toward their customers. I will never spend a dime at any Freddys...
Read moreI wouldn’t have said anything if the service wasn’t so lack luster and the price wasn’t so high. My 3 person family (including myself), went through the Drive-Through to order food. The person at the speaker was very pleasant and kind. Then she gave our total for 3 typical meals and two 3 pc chick tenders. It was $47.xx!!! Ive never been to a drive through in Ohio, where it was just as expensive as a typical sit down restaurant. So that put a lot of pressure on the quality of the food, its preparation time, and its presentation to the customer. The food at best, is Stake n’ Shake level, AT BEST. It took 15 minutes even though there was absolutely no inside the restaurant and no one in front of us at any point in time. Finally, the way the burgers were thrown together was careless. If you’re going to be just as expensive as a sit-down restaurant, then Freddy…,friend….you need to step up your game. Put more care into prepping your food faster and with more care. Unfortunately, I don’t have a solution to you becoming better then Stake n’ Shake, unless you just change...
