My family and I were a party of 6, coming from dropping my mother off at the chemo center nearby. So we didn’t look the greatest. We sat in a booth and realized it was directly next to the men’s bathroom so we got up to look for another table. The waitress told us to either find a table in the back, or in one of the big booths. There was only one other open. We sat she came over and said ‘you sat at a dirty table’ (we didn’t even notice it wasn’t wiped) she wiped it, and continued to cash about 15 customers out before giving us menus. So we ended up grabbing them ourselves. She was rolling her eyes the whole time. My niece asked for plastic silverware and she rolled her eyes again. I asked for coffee and asked if they had regular sugar and she said it’s right there. So my sister said this is all Splenda, do you have any regular sugar and she snapped and said ‘RIGHT THERE’. She came to the table with the drinks and my nephew tried to move his keys out of the way and hit the cup and spilled a drop of soda on the table and she rolled her eyes one last time. That was the last straw for me. I told everyone that’s enough ! Let’s go! I’ve been a server for 20 years and I know how you’re supposed to treat people, and it certainly isn’t the way she was treating us! Maybe she judged us by our sleepy, thrown together appearance but you never know what people are going through so BE NICE! MISSED OUT ON A GOOD TIP LADY!!! Hope I ruined your day like you...
Read moreI don't normally write anything but good reviews but I felt I had to place a "WARNING". Restaurant has good food and decent portions... however, the service is a level of rude that is,sad to say, very embarrassing. We stopped in on a Sunday an entire hour before closing. From the first step in the door, we were treated as the biggest inconvenience. From telling us everywhere we couldn't sit, to the rude comments and eye rolls... it was the most awkward experience. If it wasn't for the elderly gentleman we had with us that asked us to drive 40 mins to go there, we would have left and relieved them of our presence. A couple others that were after us were either treated the same or turned away at the door immediately even if it was still at least a half hour till close. We ordered, ate, were done 15 mins before closing, and still tipped... but never were checked on, offered a refill, or stopped hearing the negative comments being made. We have been here before and witnessed similar things but not as bad. We simply love family owned businesses and restaurants so it is so sad that this is the case, but having witnessed this treatment to ourselves and multiple others (also have heard of mistreatment to people of color or age) ..... PLEASE PLEASE be aware beforehand of possible very...
Read moreI love this restaurant, I've been going there for years. I just went to their other location out on Rt.193 (Belmont Avenue) fir the first time in 20 yrs and their equally great. But the Market St location is my favorite restaurant in the Youngstown area. I almost always get their Country Fried Steak but when I went yesterday I ordered their Corn Beef Reuben Omelet, I never heard of such a thing either and I thought it sounded a little weird so I ordered it lol, I've gotta tell you that this concoction was amazing, who would have thought lol, I definitely recommend it. This restaurant is managed great by the owner who's a very nice guy, he talks to his customers and wants everyone to be happy with their experience there, they keep the restaurant sparkling clean and the servers a very friendly, yesterday our server was a young man who went over and beyond, I believe he mentioned that he was either the owners nephew or son, I cant remember (that happens once you hit 50 yrs old lol), anyhow he was extremely polite and friendly, you couldn't find a better server then he was. I just want to thank everyone at the Yankee Kitchen for pulling together and making such a great place for everyone to come and enjoy a fantastic...
