This is over the course of 3 visits. The first visit was absolutely amazing and probably over 6 months ago. I got the pancake flight, which is your choice of 3 pancakes with the famous PanOKcake, which was a sweet cream pancake with bacon, butter, and a special syrup, and it was so great I came back at a later date. The 2nd kind was a blueberry streusel pancake and it was good, but nothing special. The last one was the strawberry dream pancake and it was also good, but again nothing special. My second visit I came back a second time for the PanOKcakes because they were so good the first time, however they weren't near as good as the first time. The bacon was more chewy and there was a lot less on the pancake. I also tried the King Sans Banana pancake and it was pretty good, but overly sweet since it was peanut butter, syrup, and bacon on a sweet cream pancake. Again not all that much bacon to balance out the sweet. The first time I got the PanOKcakes it was topped generously and probably had the equivalent of 3 slices of bacon on top of the actual pancake, crumbled up into bits of course. The bacon bits were about the size of chocolate chips and used much more in a garnish fashion in proportions similar to the amount of chocolate chips in a chocolate chip pancake. I also tasted a bit sweeter this time and I couldn't finish it because even though my stomach had room and I got a side of the loaded hashbrown tumblers for some relief from the sweetness, which were fantastic, the sweet was still too much and I had to leave a half a pancake uneaten. This third time I was more disappointed, I also got it to go and they were terribly busy, so that is probably also part of it. I got their funky monkey bread and the chicken fried eggs. The funky monkey bread had surprisingly very little sweetness to it and no cinnamon flavor. It tasted just like a slightly sweeter, slightly doughy, buttery croissant. They forgot the sauce that's supposed to go with it, which may have helped but I don't think it would have added the cinnamon flavor I was looking for since it was a cream cheese anglaise, but may have helped the sweetness or brought out the cinnamon flavor. The chicken fried eggs were okay. They are essentially soft boiled eggs with a fried chicken breading. They are very messy and when eating it I suggest putting the whole thing in your mouth to prevent spillage or loss. They were good, but the fried outside was more soggy not crispy and it was falling off the egg. The egg itself was really good and had the usual rich flavor of a soft boiled egg from the yolk. It came with two sauces, which were a chalula ranch and a cheddar hollandaise. The chalula ranch was really good, but it could've really been put with anything and tasted just as good. The cheddar hollandaise tasted mostly just like a cheddar sauce, which I'm guessing is what it's supposed to taste like. It went pretty well with the egg. Overall the 3 stars is kind of an average the first visit I'd give a 5 star because it was delicious with no complaints. The second visit would be like a 3 and a half because I couldn't finish it due to the overwhelming sweetness and my expectations from my first visit being slightly ruined. The third visit was closer to 2 stars. The best part was the chicken fried eggs, but they were pretty much just soft boiled eggs covered in a soggy breading and the sauce was the main thing that made them special, even though the sauce doesn't really go with them at that well and they really shouldn't be made for dipping due to how messy they are. The monkey bread was just a flat out disappointment. There also wasn't that much food on my third visit because the monkey bread portion was small and there were 3 of those eggs. For $17 before tax, that's hardly any food. I'm not going to dock them down an additional star though because of one bad...
Read moreI am so grateful that there is a Hatched location closer to our home! The decor is beautiful, everyone is very professional, lots of smiles, plenty of staff to go around and the food was delicious (as always). At my recent visit, I went by myself between 9:30-10:30am to enjoy a nice breakfast outside of the house. I opted to sit in the community seating near the window (there were plenty of other tables available, I just wanted some "me" time is all). I ordered gluten free pancakes with blueberry compote on top and a side of turkey sausage. YUM! My server was very kind, the lady who brought out my food was sweet, and even a manager stopped by to see how I was doing. Outpouring of love, AWESOME! The only reason why I'm rating a 3-star instead of 5 is because I felt rushed being by myself versus if I would have come with another person. My food came out quickly (no complaint there). I stopped about halfway through my meal to read a little more out of a book I brought and give my stomach a chance to rest (the portion sizes for the pancakes are Great - no complaints there). Immediately my check came (uh oh, am I taking too long?). I went ahead and paid it, I had no intention of buying anything else at this time (My meal was already AMAZING). The server came and got my my card, and I had a receipt within seconds it felt like (speedy service is not a bad thing). She said her polite goodbyes and took my plate and that was it (wait what just happened here). There were no questions, no "do you want to take this to go?" , "would you like a drink to go?" , nothing. I felt like I was being rushed out the door. But the group of people who had been sitting behind me, had been asked those very same questions. Again Hatched is a WONDERFUL place to go out to eat and catch up with friends! My point to this review is rely how important it is to communicate with your server (the clients/people dining in) and for the servers (you are awesome, Hatched doesn't just hire anyone) just please feel out the clients/people dining in and sometimes slow down just a little. Life is already so busy as it is outside the...
Read moreI'd like to give this place less than 1, but I can't.
My wife and I had breakfast at Hatch this morning. To start, there was a fly in my water. This would be the least of the problems.
In what world do you call cream gravy with sausage dumped on top "sausage gravy"? I'm sorry, but I love biscuits and gravy, it's my favorite breakfast, and this was NOT biscuits and gravy. Sausage gravy needs to be made in the SAME PAN as the sausage so that the fat from the sausage permeates the gravy. "But, that's not healthy!" If I wanted healthy I would have chosen one of their healthy options. I don't want healthy. I want tasty, and it tasted like biscuits with cream gravy with sausage thrown on top. Again, NOT biscuits and gravy.
I ordered a side of sausage (my wife did not, that's important). When I didn't get my side of sausage my wife asked about it: "It's there, on top" (again, dumped on top of my gravy). I took a look at my wife's plate and there, on top of her biscuits and gravy was also sausage, dumped on. So, did they take my order of sausage and divide it between us? If not, why did it look like I got the same amount of sausage as my wife? I mean, I did order a SIDE of sausage.
Last, there's the price. Our meal came out to $50 (including the tip). It's BREAKFAST. I understand that it wasn't McDonald's or Sonic, so paying more for a quality meal is understandable. However, it's BREAKFAST!!!
My wife ordered a single pancake to go with biscuits and gravy. When I asked "How is it?", her answer was, "It's a pancake.... Nothing special."
That's how I would sum up our experience. "Nothing special." In fact, it was quite disappointing. We won't be going back...
