An apology-praise review: today, 8 people in our office had lunch for my husband’s birthday. Despite regulars + TWO bus loads of male, teenage athletes, they were able to get all our orders fast, hot, exactly as ordered, & with incredible personality :) They also have a very cool menu!

The apology part: we were stuffed, so we got dessert to-go, to sing later ;) My husband was the only one who wanted s’mores cheesecake. The server brought out a giant bag, “Here’s your cheesecakes!” And that’s all my mind heard. We get back to our office… no s'mores. I feel TERRIBLE! It’s all bday boy wanted. An employee says, “Oh no… I just realized he said the s’mores were coming.” We left them high & dry! I immediately called to apologize & ask if we could pick it up after work, around 4:30, but there was LOTS of static. I kept apologizing & repeating, probably 4x, until finally we could hear each other again & he said he’d have a fresh one at 4:30 for us :)

… I come in to a DEAD restaurant. They’re CLOSED! Rolling silverware! I’m cheerfully greeted by a woman I saw for a split-second 4 hours prior, motioned over happily, dismissed when I apologize profusely, & given big smiles by our server who happily hands me a HOT pizza box of TWO orders of s’mores! Personalities & kindness all around.

Here’s the worst part: it weighed on me how “closed” they were, so I checked the hours… they are CLOSED from 2-5pm!!!! Someone literally had to open the kitchen especially for my rushed, forgetful, poor-cellphone-connection self. I was floored. And humiliated. If the employees from today are reading: I am so very sorry. We work in healthcare & get a little rushed, so I didn’t even check the hours before calling. You handled it with utter grace & BEYOND customer service. I am so impressed & a customer for life who has already told all my patients about you today :) While there are many local pizza spots whose dishes make my stomach sing the most… this place’s employees & service top all that. WOW. Just wow. Again, my sincerest apologies for the inconvenience & scatterbrained inconsideration - truly embarrassed there - and thank you for the most perfect experience ;) Also, from our office: we love Nicole & her cheesecake! She told us all about you! Can’t wait to tell more. Thank...

There are so many great things about this restaurant, but also a few places where they fell short during my visit. First, we loved the building. It has a great rustic vibe and the tables are a good distance apart. Lighting and music levels provided a great ambiance. Our server was nice and helpful, but a bit absent. The food came out pretty quickly and all our orders were correct. The place was clean. It smelled like heaven when we walked in the door. Because, of course, heaven is full of pizza. We ordered the burrata appetizer. The burrata had a great texture with a creamy center. There was a good amount of baslsamic glaze. If they would have added some Calabrian oil it would have been a home run. We ordered a Genovese pizza, and a Tusa. They came out with perfect neoplitan style crust: thin soft center and a thick, chewy charred crust. The problem we had was the toppings. There were WAY too many toppings. This caused the crust to become soggy quite quickly. We couldn't taste the sauce at all. And the Genovese pizza had so many whole garlic cloves that there was no balance in the flavors. I could literally only taste garlic. Mouthfuls of garlic. And I love garlic. But this was too much. I am vampire proof for the next week. For dessert, we had a lemon curd cheesecake and a pistachio cannoli. The cheesecake was fantastic. The texture was perfect and the lemon flavor was light and delicious. I took one bite of the cannoli, and my Italian ancestors turned over in their graves. A truce sicilian cannoli should be filled with sweetened ricotta, ideally made from sheep or goat milk. I get it. That can be a specialized item that is hard to source in Oklahoma. But instead, it was filled with chantilly cream. Don't get me wrong. The cream was delicious. The cannoli shell was perfectly crisp (thank you for not pre-filling my cannoli!) But I hope they never have a real Italian eat that cannoli because there will be an exchange of unpleasant words, filled with lots of hand gestures. Overall, it was a good experience, but we're looking for a great experience. We will...

What can I say about the Saucee Sicilian? A LOT!

I'll start with the exterior. Cool building and location. It is a very eye-catching corner location with big windows and attractive signage. We drove by and thought "that place looks interesting." We Googled and saw good reviews, it had started as a food truck, and that it had been on Triple D w/ Guy, so we had to check it out. *Plus the parking wasn't bad either!

We were greeted almost instantly when we walked in the door and then seated. The interior was even better than the exterior. It has very cool brick & mortar walls, pressed copper tile ceiling, 2 bar top areas, high low tables, and décor that lets you know a person decorated it and not a corporate consensus.

The menu is a perfect blend of traditional options with new twists. We had the meatball appetizer (AMAZEBALLS), and we each chose our own pizza. I had the Trapani which has a nice mellow garlic flavor with sweet notes of fig and balsamic reduction. My husband had the Tusa which had lots of flavor backed with a spicy kick. My 11yr old daughter had the Noto, which was similar to what you would think a classic meatball pizza would be, but the flavor was outstanding. And I have to add she never eats the crust, but their brick oven pizza crust is similar to a flat read, and she ate every it of it.

After our meal we had a chance to meet and talk to the owners Ganon & Angie. They are super personable, and we were surprised to find out they came from Perkins, OK (we are from StillH2O). We chatted for quite a bit about their beginnings, their mama's recipes, and fresh ingredients (some sourced from Italy). *Before we left we of course started begging them to open a location in Stillwater.

If you haven't had a chance to check this place out, you need to. Everything was great from atmosphere, to food, to even the pricing! 5-stars...

A little Sunday evening pizza night out. We love @The Saucee Sicilian food truck, so we figured it was time to head down to Oklahoma City and check out their restaurant. It did not disappoint.

. IT'S NATIONAL PIZZA DAY & what better way to spend it than with friends at the The Saucee Sicilian My good friends Dave & LeBron had never tried the new brick & mortar location and today we popped their Cherry's. We wanted an Appetizer to get our taste buds going. I ordered the "Blue" which is not the menu & not very well known yet. The "Blue" is a combination of the "Focaccia Bread" and the "Homemade Sauce and Balls" which consists of 3 of Nonna's Homemade Italian Meatballs, Meat Sauce and Shaved Parmesan 😋 You take a piece of the delicious Focaccia Bread and plop a chunk of meatball with sauce on it & send your tastebuds to ecstasy with every bite. Since every pizza is a personal pizza at the Saucee none of us had to compromise on what we wanted. I went for my favorite the "Ragusa" which has Mozzarella, Hot Capicola, Hot Soppressata, Nonna's Sausage, Nonna's Italian Meatballs and Pepperoni. I wanted to kick it up a notch so I switched it up to the Spicy Red Sauce. It's an absolutely delicious pizza for a meat lover me like myself. It was lunch time so the place was hopping but the service was still outstanding and our food came out quick, hot and absolutely delicious. Gannon Mendez and his staff have got it figured out guys. If you haven't been you're only hurting yourself by not going to check this great place out.
