Newk's Eatery — Restaurant in Oklahoma

Normally, I would have nothing but good to say about this place. Their pizza, to me, is absolutely amazing. I like it better than Sam'n'Ella's Chicken Palace because Newk's Eatery's pizza has a thin crust, which I much prefer. But I have 2 complaints. I ordered a Simply Salad with Ranch Dressing and it came with the dressing already mixed through the entire salad. Now mind you, I love dressing so I was surprised that I did not care for this. But it made the salad soggy and apparently I prefer my salad with crisp vegetables. So, if you like your salads crisp I would recommend you order the dressing on the side, as I will do next time. And the 2nd thing that was disappointing was the cake. I ordered the coconut cake which was moist and flavorful. It tasted fantastic! But what was disappointing was the picture showed layers of cake and frosting but what I received was just layers of cake. The only frosting I could see was on the top and sides only. Not inbetween the layers like in the pictures. I suppose that there could have been frosting in between the layers when it was made but it had been absorbed into the cake because the frosting was too thin? I think actually being able to taste the frosting between the layers would make the cake even more flavorful. Although Newk's has been open two or three years, covid and other things kept me away from Newk's. I wanted to go, I intended to go but just didn't get to go UNTIL a week ago. My husband and I planned a birthday dinner for our daughter in law, plus four guests at a nice restaurant, only to find it was closed on Sunday evenings. We went to a second nice restaurant in the casino, it was closed (?!? unknown reason). We saw Newk's and since everyone else in the group had been there and liked it, I finally got to go. Both my husband and I enjoyed the food, the clean atmosphere, the precautions against covid still in effect when many other businesses have slacked off. We shared a club sandwich and picked up desserts (brownies and caramel cake, both made in Newk's kitchen and delicious). The service is deli-style ordering and paying at the cash register, then the food is delivered to your table. We were there on the evening of Father's Day and they were not overly busy. I don't visit Newk's as much as I should due to it being the only place I can purchase shrimp pizza, but I do enjoy each visit as if it's my 1st visit. It's difficult to choose anything beyond the tomato bisque and shrimp pizza as those are my favorite items along with the Caesar salad (no croutons). The Mac and cheese wasn't the best, but it wasn't bad either. One day I'll purchase a different food item but not this store due to it's in Talequah and I live in Fayetteville. I wish the employees at the Fayetteville store were as friendly as this store or as efficient. Even though I brought a large group of basketball players, we were served no longer than 5 mins after our orders were placed.
