Family run business. Good cooks in this family! Their sauces are to die for! Not just plain, bland stuff like at other strip mall type places. Can't see it from the road, or this place would be doing more business and more well known in K.C. Even make most of their appetizers by hand still, when almost all are buying frozen eggrolls and dumplings from Costco! They have good unique little roll filled with a whole shrimp and cream cheese in a light flaky wrap..bit overpriced for just 4. Love they are NOT adding sugar to their cream cheese based items like rangoon! Go order cheesecake somewhere if you want sweet. Better with garlic and green onion like everyone used to make originally. I have not tried anything I did not like, except were very few pieces of pork in Pork with Chinese Vegetable. Not the norm for them, so maybe were short that day and will improve it after this review? It is an excellent dish otherwise, so hope they...
Read moreJust beware that a 16.4% TIP (before tax) is added to your total takeout bill. When trying to support a local business a Tip amount should be the decision of the customer for the quality of service provided. The restaurant is owner ran and managed - thus the tip goes to the owner. So owner gets the profits of the business plus all the tips collected.
So then you moved accounts because you don't want to admit what you did? You figured tip on amount that included tax? What did you do to deserve a tip on sales tax? Don't back out now - explain why you must have tips on carry out orders? Panera does not demand tip for carry out orders.
Anyway - So long Wong - taking my business elsewhere.
P.S. I tip over 20% when I go to a sit down meal. I know what an employee needs to survive in this world. And your $13 wage is very low - McDonalds pays...
Read moreWe really like Wong's compared to every other Chinese restaurant in the area and we order about twice a month. Now, we really love a good hot & sour soup, and we tried Wong's version last week and I'm sorry to say it was just awful. It was thickened brown both with a couple small bits of tofu in it and nothing more. No sprouts, mushrooms, pork, none of that. We threw it out. We have yet to find a decent hot & sour in all of the KC Metro, but this one was the worst.
After reading the owner response: There was no chicken, no mushrooms in our soup. Just a couple small tofu cubes. No solids! It was thick brown broth. And it doesn't matter if you like your recipes. It matters that your customers do. Plus...anyone who can make soup knows to start with a broth, not water. Your method is nothing special. I think we'll try someplace...
