No one greeted us when we walked in. Our friends ended up seating themselves. We had to request more menus We got our drinks (from Michael, which were great!). The gentleman who I thought was our waiter- came and picked up our menu while never confirming any portion of our order (which was large). Same waiter came back and got me another drink. I was under the impression he was underage so a lady came over to get a drink order from us. Next thing I know, the gentleman came over with the one drink and she came over with 3 more. The first guy got my drink order wrong because once again he never clarified anything. There was NO COMMUNICATION among them. This happened 3 or 4 other times throughout the night. All 3 were checking on our food, getting our order, drinks, trying to understand an issue. Our edamame came out (which is great as always). Then the blue balls. Then there was a pause. Someone came to pick up the empty edamame. Later on the manager delivered our large platter of sushi. He explain what they were and we dug in! :) One of the three waiters caring for us came over to fill water- we told him we were still waiting on our two Hawaiian rolls. He said, "Those come from the kitchen so they take longer." He spoke very condescendingly as if I had no clue what was going on. The other waiter came over to check on our other drinks. He asked us if we were still waiting on anything. I said, "We are still waiting on our two Hawaiian rolls." He responded, "Hmm, let me go check on that for you." Then the waitress came over. She inquired about the Hawaiian rolls. She said, "I already delivered them to you. I delivered them to you when I picked up the edamame." I said, "No, they were never here." She was so DISRESPECTFUL. She made us feel like we were all liars, or moochers, or something. There wasn't anything I felt I could say to convince her otherwise. I said, "You delivered edamame and blue balls." She said, "And the Hawaiian roll, I know because I delivered them here myself." I said, "I don't know what to tell you, but they were never here. I would know because I would have ate them personally." She shook her head and started piling up our plates (where sushi still was). She realized her mistake left the plate with sushi and left. She then sent over someone else. The manager came over to address the Hawaiian roll issue. He asked if we were supposed to have two because according to our menu we only had ordered one. (If the gentleman at part 3 would have confirmed our order we would have realized we goofed.) We said at this point we just want the one Hawaiian roll we ordered. My husband pulled the manager to the side to explain the misbehaviors of his staff. Within 5 minutes, two Hawaiian rolls were delivered to us by the Manager. He said they would be comped. I witnessed the wait staff and the manager discuss our table. They kept looking at our table and laughing. The lady and the manager exchanged words and I saw the manager say "don't worry about it." Completely unprofessional how the wait staff continued to "gossip" behind the bar. It was more than just brush it off and move on. It was all a big joke. It was as if no one took the behaviors and the issue seriously. We only tipped Michael.
I am a frequent flyer of Blue Sushi but had never been to this Blue before. I think the manager should worry about it because I and whoever else I talk to about this will NEVER visit this location again. The basics of checking the order, being respectful, having only one waiter/waitress, understanding the customer is always right, acting professional, and being friendly are not widely accepted on their staff. The manager did what he needed to do. They need more waitstaff like Michael there. I am still mad about the maltreatment. Head of Blue Sushi Sake Grill should go over there and evaluate how they run their...
Read moreNormally great service and food but last time was not the case at all and people working there made excuses.
Updated: To their credit management followed up on the issue indicting they would work to address these issues.
This review is for this last visit. We ordered two appetizers , drinks and two sets of sushi rolls. Got drinks then waited, and waited. 45 minutes go by and ask our server where was the food, she said oh maybe there is an issues. Now people at other tables that arrived after us started getting the same appetizers we ordered 55 minutes ago, who ordered after we complained. Waitress comes back and I say something is wrong with this wait, she said she told the manager. Finally after 67 minutes (thanks google maps for history), the food comes all at once. I ask for a fork, no fork, I ask a difference waitress for fork finally got one a third of way into eating. No offer of a drink all this time. No manager checks in on this. When asked what happened just got a sorry. Bill comes they took off one of the two appetizers. Paid bill and went to front to ask to see the manager. The hostesses both left and a person comes to the front and says hi, I asked if they were the manager. No. Was told manager was busy. I said get them any way. Out comes the manager, tell the whole story. They say oh, heard there was I slight delay. I informed them over and hour is not a slight delay and why did she not come to the table to check knowing there was an issue. She said she was busy doing other things she is supposed to do. She then realized how that sounded and said did not mean that as an excuse, so I said so then why did you not come take care of the issue. The impression was one of why are you bothering us. Look, issues happen, take ownership of it and make an effort to correct it, prioritize getting that food out, comp a drink or item so we have something while we wait. Explain what what happened. There was none of that. The response at the time seemed to be as if they are popular and if something goes wrong they have plenty off other people and over an hour waited of everyone at the table is not any big issue, based on the responses...
Read moreI tried Blue for the first time last night, and it was an experience for sure. The restaurant was a bit busy when we arrived, 5:20-ish, but we still were seated fairly quickly. The atmosphere though, was not pleasant at all. It was so loud between the music turned up way to high and tables yelling at each other in order to be heard, that it was more akin to a rowdy sports bar during a big game night! I heard more of the conversation from the table next to us than i did at our own table. When our server came to get orders from us, he had to practically lean down head-to-head to hear us. This is one of the major reasons for the low review.
The service wasn't to bad, waters came quick and our drinks followed a bit slower after. I, personally, did not care for the cucumber slice in my water. I know some don't mind it but i feel that is just like lemon in a water, ask if they would like that don't just assume. It did take us a bit to figure out our order, but when we were ready to place it, our server was nowhere to be found. When he finally came back, he went to a table that was seated well after us and took their full orders first and only came to us when i waved him down. Aside from that, he was very friendly, and a bit more attentive after that.
The food, was beautifully presented and was very delicious. The rolls were massive and very well priced for it. The nigiri, on the other hand, was lacking and a bit sad. I have been to several of the sushi spots around town, and the ones i had there, although very delicious, were the smallest ones I think I've ever had. Even though we had some of the Happy Hour ones with a reduced price, it was still very over priced for the size. This is the other major reason for the low review.
Overall it wasn't horrible, but it wasn't very enjoyable either. I'm honestly not sure i would ever go back, knowing i could go else where for a quieter atmosphere and better size to...
