If tomorrow were my last day in Omaha, Scriptown Brewing Company would be at the top of my list of places I would absolutely need to spend time at.
Scriptown is everything a local brewery should be: great vibes and location, warm and welcoming staff, and the best tasting beer in town.
Scriptown was on Farnam Street before Blackstone turned into the bustling nightlife street that it is today. It was amazing when it opened, and it has kept its true identity to this day even as the street and the businesses around it have perpetually been changing over the past 10 years.
The owner John is a true beer guy: he's an expert at his craft and simultaneously doesn't fall into "trendy" beers while also listening to his customer base on what they want. It's been incredible to watch them navigate the hurdles COVID threw their way, incorporate a side restaurant, garage doors on the front of the business, and host live music events.
Evan is the Czar of Scriptown. Incredibly nice bartender who I'd bet a weeks worth of wages that he knows his regulars better than any bartender in the city.
If you're a runner, be sure to give Scriptown Running Club a shot. Rain or shine, 100 degrees or -10 degrees, they meet every Thursday.
Last, don't be alarmed if you don't drink beer - they make their own ginger beer and have the best mules in Omaha as well.
Quit reading this review and go try it for yourself - I promise you won't be...
Read moreGood selection of beer, friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere; no food, but there is a food truck out back on the weekends. I sampled seven of their beers: Son of a Nut, Nut Brown ale, Heilige Namen, Muddy mo, Lone Tree IPA, St. MEINRAD, and Saddle Creek Wheat. My two favorites were the St. MEINRAD and Saddle Creek Wheat (SCW). The SCW was light, yet had lots of flavor, bread being one of them, as the description suggests, with a hint of an acidic and sour finish. The St. Meinrad, which a happened have the strongest ABU, showcased what a strong golden ale might be. St Meinrad would be my choice, though the higher alcohol content would keep me from enjoying too many...maybe switching back and forth between the wheat and St. Meinrad would be the best plan for an enjoyable evening. This place has a great atmosphere with a modern touch, which would make any outing most memorable. One thing I didn't get to try, which seems to be a favorite, was paring whiskey with one of their brews, such as Son of a Nut or Nut Brown...
Read moreThis was easily the worst customer service place I’ve been to in Bricktown or any place in a long time for that matter. Only 1 bartender on staff 7pm Friday night who would walk past us at the bar to visit and re-serve the same customers without even acknowledging us. This is after she had served us one round 15 minutes earlier. We finally got the attention of a bar back after literally 20 minutes (would have left a lot earlier but they had my card on file) who said she would let the bartender know we wanted a drink (duh)...but nothing. Finally walked around the bar...got in front of the bartender and had to raise my voice to close out my tab without the 2nd drink. I mentioned how I had to wait and even brought up trying to get the barbacks help...apparently this didn’t sit well with the barback who was listening though because she jumped in and wanted to argue. Still not sure about what....wasn’t their great customer service. Never been to a brewery that doesn’t like selling beer or customers until tonight. ...
