Fine dining served in a more casual laid back atmosphere.
The table setting says fine dining.
We went for our anniversary dinner (and told them on the reservation). The host seated us at an odd location at first which was a table just inside the main dining area of the second floor but it was in the doorway. Our back was to the other side of the dining room that they turned off the lights to. (Aka: darkness) We asked to switch seats to the balcony area over looking the atrium which was much more pleasant and romantic. I would highly suggest requesting for this.
We started off our meal with the duck wings. They were not dry (a good point). The sauce was an orange sauce (duck is typically paired with it). I give it 4 stars.
Dinner comes with bread service served with a whipped butter. The bread rolls are served hot and fresh
Ribeye steak 5 stars Grilled nicely, served at the right temperature. It hit all the right spots. You were able to cut it with a butter knife. My man cut it with his fork to show how tender it was at some points
Filet 11 oz Oscar style 4 stars It just didn't compare to the ribeye. The extra cost of Oscar style seems worth it as it's a generous amount of lump crab and you get a few spears of asparagus as well. I do not have a huge appetite so if given the choice I would have gone for the ribeye.
White truffle Garlic mashed potatoes Taste is 5 stars but if it's supposed to have white truffle I don't taste it which would drop it to a 4 if that's your expectation.
Baked sweet potato 3 stars I wanted to love it, the sauce is paired with us very nice, but the sweet potato itself just didn't taste very good. Maybe it was a fluke we got a mediocre to bad one? I make sweet potatoes all the time and this one just wasn't ok got me.
I'd recommend a glass of the alias red to go with your steak. It was very good.
My husband booked it as an anniversary dinner, so we did get a complimenty New York cheesecake with a candle.
We ordered the banana bread dessert. 4 stars I liked it, but I'm not a fan of cooked nuts in my dessert. If you like it, this might be a 5 for you.
Service was friendly and laid back. There were not many people in the restaurant the evening we went so the server had a lot of time to talk with us. He was genuine and seemed to enjoy his job.
This restaurant is located in the old market where the atrium is. Parking was typical of trying to find it in the old market, we came early and did not...
Read moreI absolutely love the atmosphere, reminds me of the old Maxine's.. They bring out a display of the food and the waiter reviewed all options. This is something you don't see in Omaha, this is usually a practice performed in very high end large cities, where the steaks start at $150 and go up..
The prices here seem incredible reasonable for the setting. Honestly not much more than a chain steakhouse, but, the experience, the presentation is far beyond what you get there.. Growing up here, playing in the old market as a young child through my teenage years, the nostalgia is palpable..
Bread is served, soft butter, warm bread, spot on.
Crab cakes. PERFECTION... large chunks of crabs, perfectly cooked, not oily, pure deliciousness
Artichoke dip. This is probably the best I have had, at least in the omaha area. I love the taste of artichoke, often it is too subdued. With this dish, the artichoke sings... This is for those that love artichokes, if that is not you, or you are used to chain store dips, this might not be for you...
We both ordered the 11 oz, filet, medium rare. This is exquisite. Perfectly cooked, excellent flavor. Most importantly, fork tender. This steak is over an inch thick and I can cut it with my fork!!!....
Asparagus, as you would expect, perfectly grilled, excellent flavor
Waffle fries....... yes I know, why not a soup, why not a potato, because my wife loves waffle fries, that's why... they are perfect. I want to mention the ranch, yes, we dip them in ranch.. I believe it to be house made, delicious, and most importantly, no overpowering dill dill flavor, this is creamy and rich...
Strawberry cheesecake, decadent, rich, delicious......
Huge shout out to our waiter Terry, you are what all servers should aspire to be. Very attentive, immediately at the table, you provided us with a magnificent dinning experience... Dirty silverware from appetizers were swapped with new utensils. Packed our leftover appetizers for us, and the entire time with a friendly smile...
For everyone reading this, ask for this gentleman, he is a professional...
This place is definitely 5 out of 5... We...
Read moreI am trying hard to find something to like about this restaurant, but the bad outweighs the good. Starting with the good, the hostess downstairs was very nice and the gentleman behind the bar (who may be the manager?) recognized my disappointment and tried to fix the issue. Out of everything, those two people partially salvaged an otherwise disappointing evening. Now the bad, the waitress seemed to be mostly interested in moving my dinner along at breakneck pace. She was asking for my drink order as I was being seated. She was right back with my drink asking for my dinner order, but I never heard the specials or much of anything since I had barely any time to think (I did finally here then when some people were seated near me but by then I had already ordered). On the plus side she did check on me a couple times during dinner and seemed nice, just hurried. The food was also very disappointing. I started with the lobster bisque which was week presented with a puff pastry top that looked very delicious. Unfortunately the soup was extremely salty (as in Pacific ocean) which was a shame as it tasted good but I couldn't get past the salt. I had to quit after a couple spoonfuls for fear of developing high blood pressure on the spot. For the main course I ordered the filet mignon with a side of bacon brussel sprouts. Sadly, it just went down hill. The sprouts were way over cooked (boiled) and extremely soggy. The filet (ordered medium rare) was over cooked as well which made it extremely stringy. Start to finish it was over in about 30 minutes, which I suppose could be considered good, but sadly I was hoping for more of a dining experience, not a fast food steak house. I'm trying not to be harsh here, if the price was more on line with Outback, I'd probably be talking about how they met my expectations, its just it was much more expensive and the sign stated it was the best in Omaha. Might be a bit of an...
