As Marriott brand loyalists, we have favorite hotels at which we enjoy staying throughout our travels. Whether for a quick getaway, business or vacation…we find the establishments that meet our needs and keep going back. The hotels in the Omaha area that are our top spots include the Downtown Marriott and now the Farnam, An Autograph Collection hotel. Let me say, the location of each of these hotels is prime for all downtown Omaha activities… baseball, business, adventure, concerts, farmers markets, fine and casual dining and on and on…. However, the Farnam is a serendipitous find within the hustle and bustle of downtown Omaha! It has combined the luxury of feeling celebrious with the comforts of familiarity. Exceptional surprises such as having one of only seven in the world Beech wood fired grills cook your food….outside of the norm cocktails akin to the one of a kind cocktails made in Elsbeth, episode #9 😉….sepia lighting that makes everyone and everything look even better than they already do 🫰🫰🫰….sleek hallways, modern decor with a mountainside cabin charm….high-rise New York style elevators with mirrored walls for spatial appeal are a few top notices for me. The rooms are encased behind large, elegant wooden doors and to get to your room, on your floor you must have a key to access all of it. No one is running around or being unruly on the wrong floor…not possible is what I’m saying! Hidden lighting from below, for an un-obtrusive experience for weary eyes when you enter your bathroom. The shower….grand, tall, wide, glorious - all subway tiled - calls you to take the longest shower possible - “this ain’t your old-school hotel shower”….trust me folks! Plenty of tech charging areas in the room and one feature we LOVE is that the beds have nightstands on each side….no more rock paper scissors for who gets the side with the stand to charge a device! A marble top coffee table with USB ports in the sofa, a fridge with complimentary water, cocktail mixtures, wine and items for rest, pleasure or recovery are available in your room for want or need(not complimentary). A large TV hung from leather straps awaits your gaze with a plethora of channels available…or listen to your playlist by connecting directly to the TV. For those with extra or necessary wrinkle free wishes, you will find a steamer in your closet. Along with ambient lighting automatically greeting you upon opening the double doors, you will find a safe, two robes and plenty of space to store your clothes and belongings should you desire. There are many, many other hidden gems this hotel offers in and out of your room oasis that you will have to discover and will surely appreciate….but of all the aforementioned amenities and features, one cannot miss the personnel that make this special environment what it is! Sam, for instance was a manager we met at the Downtown Marriott half a decade ago and to our delight now finds his home at the Farnam. A sophisticated yet Husker proud gentleman is ready and willing to greet you with his exceptional service, charismatic charm, and the visual pride he has for the hotel and your experience there. Every single staff member we have encountered is pleasant, willing and ready to make your stay memorable or unforgettable. Take the leap, spend a little more…I promise you will NOT be...
Read moreFirst time to the Farnam, however I'm in a Marriott every other week for work. This was the best hotel experience I've ever had at any hotel and that was mostly because of Sam Ashford, the Guest Services Supervisor. From the moment I stepped in the building Sam was extremely welcoming. I mentioned that I was there for business, but on this trip my wife and our 7 month old (Scarlett) were going to be joining me there later in the evening. Taking the extra step to make this special for the family, he put us in a beautiful corner room with views of the city. Later that day, I came down from the elevator and he immediately came over and said "Mr. Mannon, how is the room? Do you think your family is going to enjoy it." First thing that impressed me is he remembered my name. The second, he sought me out to ensure I thought it was a great room. Unfortunately, something happened that prevented my family from making the trip and I mentioned that to him. Later in the evening when I got to my room, there was a dessert and a hand written note stating "I'm sorry your family wasn't joining you, and I hope this makes your evening a little better. Best, Sam". Even though I'm not a big dessert person, it did make me feel better about how my day was going. The next day, same thing....Sam, sought me out as I was waiting for my ride and says "Mr. Mannon, how was the room? Did enjoy the treat that I left for you?" I informed him that, miraculously, my family was going to be able to join us after all, and that I was excited to get them later in the evening. With a big smile, it seemed he was happy to hear that. When I arrived with my family he proactively comes over to us and says "Mrs. Mannon, I'm so glad that you can join us here". And then looks at my baby and says "And this must be Scarlett." When he said my daughter's name, my wife's heart melted. I was telling her how amazing its been here, and the attention from Sam was top notch. The fact that he even remembered my daughter's name only reinforced that. Finally, when we made it up to the room there was a bottle of champagne with a plate of freshly sliced fruit with another hand written note. She was amazed, and as was I. The hotel itself is really cool. Nice bar area, restaurant, and even had a swanky bar/lounge. However what made this stay "the best hotel experience I've ever had" was Sam going above and beyond each day with the small items to make our stay absolutely amazing. Great Job Sam! Thank you for everything you did for us. Next time in Omaha, I will be...

Started off the night by getting to the hotel. You have three options: you can try to park on the street(rare, especially on weekends), valet(30 dollars), or self park (2 dollars per hour up until 17 hours). We chose to self park and it was pretty convenient, the hotel parking ramp is connected directly to the main lobby and the staff were friendly and facilities were clean. We had dinner reservations at 5:30 at the hotel restaurant which lighting was a bit dim for my liking but still very ambient nonetheless. They gave us tablets to order food off which were in a way hard to operate and order off of. I would’ve preferred a large paper laminated menu because I think you would’ve been able to see the items better and order better. Menu is pretty expensive but not despicable for what you are getting. Appetizers came out quick and cornbread was delicious. The problem arose with our streaks (which we ordered right away) after we forked down our appetizers. The steaks took upwards of 30-35 minutes for us to get and our server said we would get them “out in 2 minutes” but after he said that, we ended up waiting another 20 minutes. Steak was good but potatoes were on the verge of being lukewarm. As we went to the room, you could tell that this room was meant for a couple. 3 bottles of alcohol, 2 wine, and different kits that had sleep items, pleasure items, and hangover items. No silverware or microwave in the room so you can’t eat any leftovers unless you wanna go caveman style. Because I decided to go with last minute on the trip, I had to sleep on the pullout couch which we had to ask for a mattress and sheets from the staff which took about 30 minutes to get. Blinds shut completely allowing for complete darkness while you sleep but there is a fan going all the time. Omaha drivers are insane and I was woken up multiple times to people honking their horns and zooming right outside the windows. My family was able to bargain on the hotel so we got it for a pretty affordable price. I gave it three stars because if you have to pay the full price for this hotel, there are much better options that would be more...
