Thursday, June 13, we woke up to announcement coming from a speaker in the room, saying that an emergency was happening in the hotel, not on our floor but to REMAIN IN YOUR ROOM. It repeated at least three times back to back. This was approx 7:24am. How management and employees handled this case is why I WOULD NOT recommend staying in this hotel. We were concerned and didn't hear any more. After about 30 min we call the lobby and the guy says, 'oh it was a false alarm'. We had to CALL THE LOBBY to find out nothing was going on, no announcement on the speaker of an all clear. I talk to others staying, and one said that friends on a floor above ours had an announcement to leave the building down the stairs. WHY TWO DIFFERENT ALARMS, AND IF A FIRE, WHY WERE WE TOLD TO STAY IN OUR ROOM? We talked to the guy at the front desk, who was lame in his response. He just looked at us, no apology, just a blank face as if nothing had happened at the hotel. We called corporate to complain and they gave us a case number. With the treatment of my daughter (an adult) by the employee in the lobby, when asking why there wasn't an 'all clear' I picked up the business card of the GM, Stacy Parks. I called and she actually answered the phone. Again, defensive and said it wasn't their fault that someone vaped in their room causing the alarms. So we were told, 'false alarm' and then the GM says there was an issue. So they lie. She was more upset about me calling her employee, 'the lamest man on earth', than how her hotel guests felt staying in an unsafe hotel where NO ONE APOLOGIZED for not letting guests know that we could safely leave our rooms. If that would've happened, I wouldn't have an issue. Not until I asked that we be refunded for the night, being woke up by an alarm and no one to let us know all was ok, she finally apologized and said that she'd take off the $25 parking fee but would not refund our stay. And, hung up on me. Yes, hung up on me. We called corporate back a couple of days later, since we had THREE different bills from the hotel and get an update on their behavior (we didn't charge anything to the room), and they were as defensive as Ms. Parks was and an attitude of 'not a big deal' about the alarm. If you value your life, this hotel has untrained employees and management when it comes to emergency situations, (no clue about breakfast, etc as we wanted to get the hell out of this so we could move on to enjoy our road trip). I've never had a situation happen like this, nor have ever ask for a refund and every person I've told this story to, cannot believe there wasn't more compassion, a refund, and professionalism. People ask why we didn't go higher in the chain, and I remind them, I DID! HYATT PLACE IN OMAHA IS NOT A SAFE PLACE TO STAY. The fact that this place had a room available during the College World Series, but the LaQuinta and Best Western I checked on the outskirts of town were full, should've been a warning as to it's reputation. At the time of making the reservation we were happy to be downtown. I also find it interesting that in the seven different hotels we stayed on our 10 day road trip, only this one did not send a survey after, asking about our experience. I suspect they actively made sure that I didn't receive one. Cowards? BTW, I am not one who writes many reviews at all. I waited until our vacation was done so I could put this place out of my mind and enjoy our trip. PS. Can't wait to hear the spin from the company's response. One also can't reply to their response, which is why I don't bother reviewing much. So, just know you've been warned from someone who stayed here and...
Read moreThis was one of the worst stays we have ever had a hotel. And I will never book with a Hyatt again.
When we arrived to check in the gentleman at the front desk had very poor communication skills and struggled with explaining anything. The one thing he did explain was how the gates in the parking garage are currently up because of maintenance. After reading other reviews I noticed this has been going on for at least 5 months which is very frustrating because you can tell not just hotel guests are using the garage to park and there is a lack of parking spaces.
When we arrived in our room we had no both towels along with no hotel information, ie. menu and info about amenities. When we called down to ask for towels the same front desk guy was very rude over the phone.
That night we decided to head down to the lobby to get a late night snack. The pizza was what you could expect for a hotel lobby without a restaurant but the fries were horrible. Once we received them and asked about the quality we were informed that the fryer was down... well why serve them!!
Again on our first night stay (out of 3) the tv went out with a hotel wide power outage an hour later. Every other building in Omaha seemed to have power but of course the Hyatt did not. This was not a quick power outage, the power came back on at 4am . Letâs just say the lack of sleep that night was horrible.
On our 3rd night, last night, we experienced the fire alarm being pulled by a HOMELESS GUY. My first thought was their emergency protocol is horrible. They have a speaker in room that repetitively said âan emergancy has been detected in the hotel, please stay in your designated area.â Couldnât there have been something better? My second thought was WHY would they let a homeless guy into the hotel to pull the fire alarm to begin with. During that time, our phone in our room would not work. Once it did start working, no one answered at the front desk. We even tried to call the actual hotel with our cell phones and no one answered as well. Again, the third night lacked sleep.
The whole point of our trip was to get away before our Fitch child is born in 2 months. The lack of sleep was very horrible especially with being pregnant. It made for a very frustrating vacation.
To end our stay, they did not offer to reimburse us in anyway. Just asked how our stay was and didnât answer when we said it was bad.
I am very disappointed in how all of the staff lacked professionalism and...
Read moreDonât lie to yourself and believe the Hilton Place Old Market/Downtown is going to solve all of your problems, but it will provide you reasonable accommodations in Omaha. I recognize it is very difficult to make money at $167/night taxes and breakfast included. This place is really nothing special with some EXCEPTIONAL THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW OF:||The old market area of Omaha is really quaint and a great destination. I would stay here to be within walking distance of the quaint shopping areas. I only happened to be here and there are some very cute shops. There are a handful of vintage stores, some lefty merchandise stores, toy stores and candy shops that sell records. I think this would be a cute area to go on a date with little restaurants/bars and/or ice cream. So a happenstance stroll turned really well. ||The staff did help make the difference at the hotel. The person who checked me in was very helpful and handled two of my requests (non-feather and a room change due to a cleaner smell - nbd, hey the place is clean). Also really enjoyed the lady that made the room feather free. She was fun. And in general you really noticed how hard working the cleaning staff was. I would not have given this hotel 5-stars if the staff didnât seem in general engaged and happy to help.||The hypoallergenic bedding was comfy but you need a ton of the pillows. I slept great. I also like that the room was essentially all hard surfaces except the couch. I love an easy to clean hotel room because then you end up with a clean hotel room.||I had the hotel breakfast and it was really basic, but edible. I have some fondness for hotel free breakfasts because they are quick. There were a lot of happy parents.||I love that Hyatts recognize and seem to reward Discoverist status (lowest level). This one was the same and I just appreciate it. I probably stay at a Hyatt maybe 15 nights a year and itâs nice to be recognized. I only stayed here because it is the only Hyatt in the Omaha market. This is really a review of World of Hyatt and it works. I hate Marriotts as a result of a really awful experience Mandapa: a Ritz-Carlton Reserve. I canât do that. Read my review for the truth of...
