My husband and I booked our room here about a week or two in advance and called the week before regarding checking in early. We were told it was based on availability and wasn't guaranteed. We checked in on the Bonvoy app two days before, informing the property we would be arriving in Omaha at 12:45 PM (check-in at this property is at 3:00 PM). When we arrived at the property, we were rudely "greeted" by the bartender, and we told her we were checking in. Due to being fully booked the night before, housekeeping was still servicing rooms and there wasn't anything available at that time, which was fine. HOWEVER, this information was conveyed to us in the most unprofessional and uncourteous way. When we asked when we could return, the bartender retorted "I don't know. Come back in a few hours." She didn't invite us to drink at the bar while we waited and dismissively sent us away. We decided to walk down the street to another establishment until we could check in. After about 2 hours, I messaged the front desk on the Bonvoy app asking if there was any estimated check-in time at this point to which we never received a response. We came back in 3 hours and were helped by Carmelo who got us situated right away.
The parking situation is very vague and very contradicting. When completing the mobile check-in, the app offers you valet parking for $37 a night. What it does not mention is that the valet parking is not affiliated with the hotel, that is not the correct price, and cannot be charged to the room. The valet service is provided by a third party, is $42 a night, and your vehicle is parked in a city garage across the street. You can park your vehicle yourself in the same garage for $21 a night, and walk. Not to mention, the valet service and unbearable bartender could not provide additional information as to why it was offered on the app to begin with.
Conceptually, the Moxy is awesome. The bar check-in is unique, and you are offered complimentary beverages upon arrival. The property is decorated very hip, and it offers a taste of the location (in our case Omaha) with a fresh perspective. As other reviews stated, the rooms are small but manageable. The property is located pretty centrally, and there is a lot to do in the surrounding area. Carmelo was fantastic. He was very kind, and informative, and our cocktails were good. However, subpar doesn't begin to describe the initial service we experienced.
My husband and I both worked for Marriott for many years and for those who don't know, that name comes along with impeccable standards. From the moment a guest enters your property, you are directed to make that experience brilliant. The service we experienced here was not to Marriott standard, or any customer service standard for that matter. She was rude, she was dismissive, and she made us want to take the loss and stay elsewhere. The issue was not in the problem itself but the way it was poorly delivered. I would most definitely not recommend this location to a friend or family member, and I will definitely not be staying in this property again the next time...
