My husband and I booked our room here about a week or two in advance and called the week before regarding checking in early. We were told it was based on availability and wasn't guaranteed. We checked in on the Bonvoy app two days before, informing the property we would be arriving in Omaha at 12:45 PM (check-in at this property is at 3:00 PM). When we arrived at the property, we were rudely "greeted" by the bartender, and we told her we were checking in. Due to being fully booked the night before, housekeeping was still servicing rooms and there wasn't anything available at that time, which was fine. HOWEVER, this information was conveyed to us in the most unprofessional and uncourteous way. When we asked when we could return, the bartender retorted "I don't know. Come back in a few hours." She didn't invite us to drink at the bar while we waited and dismissively sent us away. We decided to walk down the street to another establishment until we could check in. After about 2 hours, I messaged the front desk on the Bonvoy app asking if there was any estimated check-in time at this point to which we never received a response. We came back in 3 hours and were helped by Carmelo who got us situated right away.

The parking situation is very vague and very contradicting. When completing the mobile check-in, the app offers you valet parking for $37 a night. What it does not mention is that the valet parking is not affiliated with the hotel, that is not the correct price, and cannot be charged to the room. The valet service is provided by a third party, is $42 a night, and your vehicle is parked in a city garage across the street. You can park your vehicle yourself in the same garage for $21 a night, and walk. Not to mention, the valet service and unbearable bartender could not provide additional information as to why it was offered on the app to begin with.

Conceptually, the Moxy is awesome. The bar check-in is unique, and you are offered complimentary beverages upon arrival. The property is decorated very hip, and it offers a taste of the location (in our case Omaha) with a fresh perspective. As other reviews stated, the rooms are small but manageable. The property is located pretty centrally, and there is a lot to do in the surrounding area. Carmelo was fantastic. He was very kind, and informative, and our cocktails were good. However, subpar doesn't begin to describe the initial service we experienced.

My husband and I both worked for Marriott for many years and for those who don't know, that name comes along with impeccable standards. From the moment a guest enters your property, you are directed to make that experience brilliant. The service we experienced here was not to Marriott standard, or any customer service standard for that matter. She was rude, she was dismissive, and she made us want to take the loss and stay elsewhere. The issue was not in the problem itself but the way it was poorly delivered. I would most definitely not recommend this location to a friend or family member, and I will definitely not be staying in this property again the next time...

Worst Hotel Experience – Omaha Moxy Downtown||I genuinely felt like I was on a hidden camera game show during my stay here.||I arrived at 9 PM after a long day of travel. At first, the atmosphere seemed fun and the two women at the front desk/bar were friendly. But that’s where the positives ended.||First, they gave me the wrong room number. I went upstairs, tried my key, and of course it didn’t work. Back downstairs I went, and only then did they realize their mistake. They chuckled/apologized and handed me the correct keys and room number — the sweat box with no working AC.||At check-in, they casually mentioned that there was only one room left and the AC was broken. Instead of contacting me before I arrived, they waited until I was standing there exhausted. Their “solution” was a freestanding unit that used ice to “cool” the room. It took nearly 30 minutes just to get situated, and once inside the room, it was unbearable.||To compensate, they gave me a few extra poker chips for the bar/coffee. Those turned out to be useless, because when I tried to use them the next morning for a cappuccino, the woman at the desk admitted she couldn’t make one — she didn’t know how to clean the machine and didn’t have the tools to do it. So much for that perk.||By 11 PM, after wasted promises of “working on a solution,” all I got was a second fan to push hot air around. Out of desperation, I propped my door open with the so-called AC unit to pull in cold air from the hallway. I was excited to stay at Moxy because it was in downtown Omaha and it's a Marriott-owned property. However, it just didn't hit a home run. Yes, it's located downtown within walking distance of everything in the Market. And yes, it was clean. And that's a MUST on my list and I thank you for that! However... Strike 1: Check-in: it's not obvious where the check-in desk is, as it doubles as a bar. The neon sign is sitting on the desk so that if other people are standing there checking in, the sign can't be seen. Check in was slow because only one computer was working. On the way to the rooms, the space outside the elevator is too small for more than 2 people to wait in. Strike 2: Rooms: the rooms are very small. They tell you at check-in that the rooms are small because they want guests to gather downstairs to drink and play games (though no one was playing games & we saw only 2 people at the bar anytime we came in or out of the building). In fact, we passed by several rooms where there were sounds of more than a few people partying in their rooms. There's no closet or storage place, no microwave or mini fridge, and the tiniest of bathrooms with a tiny vanity, and as a Marriott member, we were given a room with a view of the HVAC system...Really?!? The bed is hard and doesn't provide a comfortable night's sleep. Also, if this place is so "Moxy", why didn't they spring for USB plug-ins?! Strike 3: Amenities: parking is extra unless you park on the street from 9:00 pm until morning, no laundry facilities, and they give you a token for a free drink that tastes like it ought to be free. I'm a bit disappointed in Marriott. It might be that they are targeting Gen-Z guests, but I think they need a few more Gen-Z opinions. 3 strikes, you're out. We won't be staying at Moxy-themed properties again.
