My family and I have been going to Romeo's for well over 20 years, first at their 90th and Blondo location and then we even followed them a block south when they moved a few years back. In 20+ years, we've never had such an awful experience as the one we had this evening.
We sat down with a party of 16 (two of whom were under 2 years old and did not eat) and immediately the server, Brandon, was visibly bothered. I'm not sure if he was having a bad day, was upset about getting such a large party or just has a piss poor demeanor in general but he did not make us feel welcome at all throughout our meal. He scoffed, he rolled his eyes and was clearly frustrated. It really started to go downhill, though, when he finally got around to taking our order.
He immediately was being short with us, but I cut him some slack because of the party size. After our orders arrived (mine was incorrect, but I didn't feel comfortable sending it back as Brandon was already clearly frustrated with our table) he checked in on us once providing refills. (bare minimum).
Then, shockingly, a bad experience turned even worse. My 6-month old nephew was in his carseat on a carseat carrier and Brandon decided it would be a good idea to SLAM two chairs into the set of tables behind us (so loud that my 91-year old grandmother jumped) right next to my nephew's head while attempting to deliver the check. The appropriate choice here would have been to leave the check somewhere else on the table, but he chose the former instead.
That was the final straw for us - my sister immediately got up, raised the issue with Brandon and asked to speak with a manager. The manager on duty, Jon, was condescending, rude and less than helpful. He gave us a pitiful "sorry" and chose to carry on with his evening. I think both Jon and Brandon could benefit from going back to clown college - oops sorry I mean customer service 101.
As we were leaving another employee stopped us and mentioned that they have had problems in the past with both Brandon and Jon, gave us their names, and a number to contact corporate which we will be doing tomorrow. This employee, who actually has an understanding of customer service and should maybe be running the restaurant over Jon, then was reprimanded in front of other members of our party for providing the number for corporate.
All in all, we did not feel like this was a satisfactory resolution to the issue we experienced. A sincere apology would have sufficed, but Jon is clearly lacking in the sincerity department. So now I'm here at 9 p.m. on a Sunday night writing a review on Google to leave you with a piece of sage advice - if Brandon is your server: RUN. And if Jon is the manager on duty... need I say it again? RUN. You can get much better service at the Taco Bell down the street.
Suffice it to say, the jury is still out on if my family and I will...
Read moreMy gf and I came here on Halloween. Out in the parking lot there was maybe 5 to 7 cars. Assuming some of those were employees. Inside, greeted by a waitress that acted like she didnât want to be there. A mask on so tightly that when she spoke, it was muffled.
Reluctantly, I decided to come here, but my girlfriend wanted to come. Romeos, has drastically gone down in quality over the last several years ever since they moved from across the street.
On this night, we ordered chips and guac. For an appetizer. Mind you there is only about five people in the building and it took about 15 minutes to get the appetizer to the table. Once it arrived, you could tell that the guac have been sitting out for quite some time as it was brown on top. This was out of a container guac as it was super processed, warm, and very tasteless. The chips were horrible. Cold, with no flavor. Some of them were mushy and some of them from them crumbled when you picked them upâŚ. Was definitely not happy with the initial presentation of the food that taste and quality made it even worse.. After spitting the food into a napkin I decided I wasnât going to eat anymore.
My girlfriend order the number seven and I ordered soft tacos. The quality of ingredients that they use must be absolutely horrible. When she cut into her burrito, the amount of oil and grease created a small puddle on her plate which I found to be extremely disgusting. To me that was reflection of the quality of cheese that they were using to elicit that much oil on plate. The refried beans, or cold and crusty. During the meal I was trying to be patient for one, but waiting for our waitress to come by who never even bothered to check to see if everything was OK.
My tacos, cold. Tortillas greasy. I had one and took the rest home.. I think the only thing that actually tasted OK was the iced tea. Even then, when our waitress decided that stop by our table and ask if there was anything we needed. I did request a refill on the ice tea as that was the first time she stopped to ask anything regarding the meal. I told her I would like a refill, she walked off, grabbed a rag in a squirt bottle, and started wiping off tables.
Only until she looked over and see me looking at her. Did she go get the picture and come refill the cupâŚ. You wouldâve thought that with that type of service there wouldâve been 300 people in the restaurant. She couldnât even take care of four tablesâŚ
This is probably why I havenât been there in at least for years prior to this experience. I have no intentions on ever coming back. Horrible...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I would. My family and I are traveling from Wisconsin to Colorado and stopped in Omaha for the night and decided to stop at Romeo's for dinner. Google showed they had good reviews and had multiple locations... they must be really good? Wrong. I am not one to typically leave bad reviews but, the food was close to inedible. Taco Bell has better tasting food. I would rather eat a week old Taco Bell taco that was on the ground than to ever eat here again. Not only was the food room temperature, our order was messed up and we barely saw our server, so even if we wanted to say something we couldn't. Everything is from a can and while not always bad, this definitely doesn't do their food quality any justice. Seeing that a Mexican restaurant serving pizza should have been the first red flag. 0/10 Do not go here, don't even think of giving them the benefit of a doubt. Go to Taco Bell, not only will you save money, you'll get better service, and...
