When I moved to Omaha, I was assured by many folks I interacted with that the Asian food scene was lacking. And it is evident that they had yet to experience Taipei.
As soon as I walked in, I could tell by the aroma that I was walking into an authentic Taiwanese restaurant.
I took my seat at the bar area and was immediately greeted. I asked about the cuisine and the restaurant, and they confirmed that it was Taiwanese cuisine. The owner was also present, and I throughly enjoyed my conversation with him and their staff welcoming me to Omaha. It was such a friendly welcome and authentic connection, and moreso I got the rundown on some of their specials and specialties at the restaurant.
The portions and quality of the food here cannot be beat. Keep in mind though that this isn’t fast food Asian cuisine, this is Taiwanese style and it has a very unique flavor profile, which is very enjoyable as you explore the menu.
So far I have had their egg rolls, Taiwanese mei fun, sesame chicken, chicken lo mein, and a fried rice dish. I have truly enjoyed all of them. Their duck sauce is unique and looks to be homemade.
In terms of quality and portion size, for the price, you won’t find a better value. I was surprised at the portion size when it came out. The owner smiled and said welcome to the Midwest, where you get your moneys worth out here.
I forgot to mention as well, I’ve had their wonton soup, hot and sour soup, and egg drop soup. All of them were absolutely hot and fantastic.
All I can say now is that this will be a family dining favorite for us. And loved the welcoming nature of the staff and flavor...
Read moreMy husband and I went here for date night because we had take out at a friend's and liked it. We came in and were greeted by a nice woman with a bun who had sit at a table for 2 on top. We sat and she came and got our drink order promptly. We looked over the menu which looked great. Waited as other tables were sat and a couple who was seated at the back far table for 2 on top by us. Another woman shoulder length pepper hair and glasses came up to them quickly and must have known them as regulars. She got them drinks and then came back to get their order. The woman customer pointed out to the woman in glasses that we had been sitting there before them and were waiting. The waitress looked back over her shoulder and made a hand motion in the air saying "it's ok" and went on to take their order and got them soup. Not to mention another table pf five also had drinks and soup and we had yet to see someone again. We waited a little longer and saw no one. I saw the waitress going in the kitchen and a male waiter coming out and gesturing toward us. We waited a bit longer and then got up and walked out. I believe the waiter was coming up the steps as we were and thought he said sorry but it was too late. As much as we are looking for good Asian food in Omaha and realize patience is needed sometimes when going out, I also don't like being looked over or dismissed when we had clearly been waiting. Was really looking forward to trying Tai Pei. I understand people go places regularly but your waitress needs to do better and treat...

First time here and we really enjoyed it. We started with hot and sour soup (yum!!) and wonton soup (also very good just more mild) and some crab rangoons. My husband had the Singapore Chow udon with chicken and shrimp. He loved it. I described it as chicken noodle soup without the soup because the noodles remind me of grandmas homemade noodles but skinny version. The sauce and chicken were really good as well. I had the Taiwanese “Mei fun” rice noodles which was very good as well but I added chili paste for some bang and extra soy sauce for flavor. My 4 year old had the sesame chicken, broccoli and fried rice… which was delicious! The chicken was the best I’ve had in a LOOOOONG time. The service was very good, prompt and the waitress had goood insight to meals. We loved everything we ordered, and will definitely be back. Edited to add we’ve now been here three times in 7 days haha… the sesame chicken is so good, the Taipei delicacy, and crispy honey chicken are also delicious! Don’t skip the crab Rangoons and egg...
