Cheba Hut "Toasted" Subs — Restaurant in Ontario

Tonight, I was really looking forward to trying the sandwiches here. Ive heard good things about the food and reviews say that the customer service is great, but thats not the fact in my case. We came in to order 4 lrg. Sandwiches. I looked at the menu to figure out what I was going to have and then I was going to the bar to have a drink while my wife ordered. So, I asked for a menu and the bartender tells me he already called last call. I may have missed him call it out and he definitely didnt make us aware of it walking in the door (right past him) and I had already been looking at the menu coming in (no mention of last call) The bartender was to busy talking to his buddies then to even glance at me to ask for a menu. So, I took a seat in hopes he would offer me a menu. But no I had to ask him for one, only to get the response (oh I already called last call). Not to mention that at the time I walked in and then again as im standing there looking at the drink specials. While he just ignores me and continued to talk to other people about cars. Needless to say my family and I wont be returning. Eating out is costly and then to be rude to paying customers. My wife and I had an amazing first visit to Cheba Hut Subs! The atmosphere was fantastic, offering great vibes and unique, eye-catching art throughout the interior. My wife, who is an avid rubber duck collector, was thrilled by the variety of ducks on display—such a fun and quirky touch!

The food was absolutely outstanding. I ordered the Jamaican Red, and it was a perfect blend of spices that instantly reminded me of the jerk chicken I had in Jamaica—every bite was packed with delicious flavor. My wife got The Bomb, and it was one of the best meatball subs we’ve ever had. The meatballs were bursting with savory goodness, and the fresh veggies added a satisfying crunch that took it to the next level.

The drink options were just as impressive. I sipped on a Kool-Aid that brought back childhood nostalgia, then followed it up with one of their many draft beers—perfect for washing down such hearty subs.

To top it all off, the service was welcoming and friendly, making our first visit a truly excellent experience. We’ll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu—Cheba Hut has earned two new regulars! Highly...

I’ve always liked Cheba Hut and usually spend over $50 per order, but my recent experience was honestly terrible. I called the store the next day after missing my pickup because of a family emergency. I explained the situation clearly on the phone — that I had already paid through DoorDash, wasn’t asking for a refund, and just wanted the order remade. The employee I spoke to said that wouldn’t be a problem and told me to come by around 5:30 p.m.

I drove 30 minutes to get there, thanked them for helping me out, and even left a $15 tip. When I got home, I realized they didn’t remake anything. It was the exact same order from the night before — same bag, same receipt with the old timestamp, same food that had clearly been sitting out overnight.

That’s completely unacceptable and really disappointing. I’ve been a loyal customer, but after this, I honestly don’t know if I’ll be back. At the very least, I’d like my tip back — that was meant as a thank-you for doing the right thing, not for handing me...
