Bombay Banquet Hall & Events Center — Attraction in Ontario

We booked this hall for the celebration of life for my 21 year old son. The day before my parents went to deliver the desserts, decorations and alcohol so we didn’t have to do it the morning of his funeral. From the very beginning the owner was rude! He actually told them whatever doesn’t fit on top of the bar can’t stay. He gave my dessert lady a hard time while she was decorating the dessert table and back drop. She even had to take our dinner rolls home and bring them back the next day because he refused to let us leave them since they didn’t fit on the bar! The day of the funeral we brought all our baked goods that we had for our guests at the church and he told us we couldn’t bring them in. Which makes no sense when we provided all the desserts for the hall not him. He also had a problem with us bringing and setting up our flower arrangements on the stage from the funeral. But we didn’t care we set them up anyway. He then had the audacity to tell the servers I paid for not him to stop serving my guests. He then took all the dinner plates away and put tiny plate saucers making my guests feel like they couldn’t get seconds. I had to literally throw the remaining food away! Lastly he threatened my guests who were smoking outside that if they don’t stay inside he’s shutting everything down when we still had three and half hours left for this rental. When we had 2 and 1/2 hours left, he had his employees start packing up the tables and chairs! Making everyone feel like they had to leave. We paid about 8,000 to rent this hall and we provided everything except for the tables and chairs. He had no right to make my guests and I feel uncomfortable, especially on such a sad day when we are all grieving. We also had to constantly witness him yelling at his employees. This hall is ran by a terrible owner who has no sense of professionalism or basic empathy. Instead of showing any concern for his customers, the owner was dismissive, rude, and outright hostile. A business reflects the values of its leadership, and it's clear the owner simply doesn't care. There was no effort to listen, no attempt to make things right, and not even the smallest sign of respect. The lack of accountability and compassion this business owner has to his customers and employees made the entire experience unacceptable and unpleasant.

The attached photo is the owners response to my friend’s review on Facebook. Instead of apologizing and showing us proper customer service, He had the nerve to reply to her and call her a bad name. This is the kind of person this owner is. Unprofessional, un caring and doesn’t take the time to make anything right. I would never rent a hall from this man again and I wouldn’t recommend you do it either. The banquet hall itself looked okay and had the potential to be a nice venue for my quinceañera. However, I was very disappointed with how the owner handled things. Without our permission, he invited himself and his family to eat at our event, which was unprofessional and disrespectful. This took away from the experience, especially since this was such an important celebration for me and my family. My husband and I had our wedding reception here and the customer service was phenomenal. We accidentally forgot to get table cloths for a few of the tables and the owner was super sweet and supplied us table cloths on the house. It was a very nice gesture that made our day. The venue itself is super beautiful and he even added cherry blossoms on the walls for us which we really appreciated.
