This review is super long overdue, but I wanted to knock it out this morning and post positive kudos to this hotel and the staff. The Sheraton Ontario Airport is by far the best hotel in the Ontario Airport area. I travel a ton for work, and so far this year have stayed her at least 30 times. I've seen some bad reviews posted about this place, but I assure you most of it is ridiculous nit picking things that don't do the hotel justice. Is it the Ritz Carloton? No, it is not. However, for the area and the price, you shouldn't be expecting it to be.
The rooms are comfortable, recently renovated and far better than most other chains in the area. The staff here is phenomenal. The front desk manager Chelsea is beyond fantastic, and she is always helpful even for someone like me who I feel like sometimes I drive her crazy (but not because of hotel flaws or anything -- mostly sometimes with booking changes, issues, room requests and stuff like that. I can't name every person at the front desk, but they are all super nice especially Chanel, Frank, Jade, Monica and everyone else (sorry I am terrible with names sometimes).
The pool area is nice, it's a salt water pool, plenty of lounge chairs. The bar and restaurant are great and the food is pretty good. There's also an In and Out Burger, Wendys, Yoshinoya, Starbucks, Dennys and a ton of other food places all walking distance. Airport is a 10 minute walk or 2 minute shuttle ride (they have a free 5 mile radius shuttle -- and back to my names but at night and early morning the security guard who also drives the hotel is super friendly and helpful (I should know his name, his wife is in healthcare like me and he's such a nice guy). They also have a decent fitness center on the first floor, and parking is plentiful and free.
And if you're an SPG Platinum member, you get access to their club lounge where they have a pretty dang good breakfast each morning and also an evening h'our derve (I can never spell that) service (which is actually more like a dinner half the time with pretty decent offerings). All the girls who work up in the club lounge are superb, especially Maria and the other young Latina lady whose name escapes me (she's tiny and speaks very softly with a huge personality and she couldn't be more helpful!).
Well that's it. I give the place 5/5 stars, because the service to me is what makes or breaks a hotel. And if it were facilities alone, I'd still give it 4/5 with no major gripes.
And since they always tell you to always post something with room for improvement to write a fair review, then I guess I would just say they have been installing thee new water efficient shower heads in some of the rooms which suck!!!! They aren't like the Speakman shower heads Sheraton usually uses which are awesome, they just kind of trickle water out which is no bueno. Of course I ranted to Chelsea about it to give feedback, so hopefully if the hotel owners read this they can look for a more effective water efficient shower head. Oh, and one other gripe, they really should update the computers and printers in the lobby business area -- they are kind of slower and sometimes on the fritz -- but for me it's not too big a deal and would be an easy fix.
Sheraton Ontario is awesome.
OH YES --- and as much as it pains me to say it, for SPG members the point redemption value on this hotel is an absolute bargain. I don't get how they calculate this is a Level 2 property and classify the Aloft Hotel up the street a Level 3 (Aloft is OK, but I definitely like the Sheraton so much better). Not sure how the new rating will be with the Marriott merger, but for the last two years this hotel has been a bargain with rooms for 3,000 points on weekends and 4,000 points weekdays. I know I should keep my mouth shut, but I like to give credit where...
Read moreAfter having to leave another hotel in the same area because of health reasons, my sister was able to book us a room at the Ontario Sheraton hotel. The entire stay was one to remember. Our room, service, help with the computer/college work, and location are a few of the things we enjoyed during our stay at the Sheraton. The greatest compliment to everyone working at this facility, (ESPECIALLY THE HOUSEKEEPING DEPARTMENT), is their integrity. I was in Ontario for my granddaughters birthday celebration.....I live approximately 200 miles north of Ontario. We had arrived on the Friday before the weekend and stayed until the following Monday afternoon. After we checked out on Monday, we got on the road headed headed home. Upon arriving in Bakersfield, (over 100 miles from Ontario), I decided to stop for gas, I realized I did not have my purse and I had left it in the hotel room, I thought OMG, no! It was after 4pm, I called the hotel and asked if anyone had turned in a purse, the front desk said no, I asked if I could speak with someone in housekeeping and they stated housekeeping was gone for the day, I then asked if there was anyone else, manager, someone I could speak with regarding my purse being found that I had mistakenly left in the room. They stated I would have to contact them on the next day and speak with housekeeping because no one else had access to the room where they keep locked, lost and found items. I left my name and number so when housekeeping came in they would be able to contact me right away. I became frantic, I started thinking about all of the items I carry in my purse, and I just dwelled on the thought of "my life is in my purse", I felt a sense of sickness. I thought my purse and everything in it is gone .... I thought this is going to be a major loss. Sleeping that night awaiting the next day was difficult ... and of course the night seemed to drift by slowly. The next day, I could not wait for their call, I called them, fornt desk connected me to housekeeping, right away I asked if anyone had retrieved my purse and they immediately said "yes" we have it here, right away I thanked God, and them. So now, the next question was, is everything going to be in there that should be there. I have a son who lives in Ontario and was able to get my purse and ship it to me. Upon arrival and inspecting the inside I am pleased to report "EVERYTHING" was inside and intact. I know this is a lengthy review but, I wanted to give a vivid picture of the service granted to me. Things could have gone another way but, again, I am grateful for the integrity of the people working at this Sheraton at the time of my visit and "YES" I when I am in the area again, this will be my perferred place to stay. THANK YOU SHERATON AND ITS...
Read moreMy wife and I needed a quick one night getaway. The Sheraton Ontario Airport worked out to be a great choice for this. We live within an hour of this hotel and are familiar with the area which offers plenty of entertainment options and we wanted to end our day at a close by hotel.
We opted to upgrade to Club Room which gave us Sheraton Club access and included buffet breakfast. We checked in after dinner and were welcomed by Michael who was friendly and courteous. Check in was quick and easy with no wait...we did arrive around 7pm on a Friday night and were told it was a bit busier earlier that afternoon. The Hotel is contemporary decor and well kept up. Parking is free and on the hotel property so no issues there. There is a small restaurant with bar just off the lobby which looked inviting and nice enough but we went up to our room as we had just finished with dinner and drinks at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse which is about 10 minutes away at Victoria Gardens.
The room was on the 6th floor and was very nice with your typical business hotel furnishings. The bed was very comfortable and while we are not extreme clean nuts we are particular, and with this standard in mind we were pleased to find no offensive cleanliness issues though the room had a slight musty odor covered over by air freshener. I checked out the Club Lounge which was empty at that hour and well stocked with snacks and beverages. We were happy with the room and got a very good night sleep with no noise issues or bed comfort issues. We have always been happy with the Sheraton beds and bedding, they are very nice!
The next morning I visited the Club Lounge again for coffee. It was about 50% full with guests enjoying the amenities. This is a moderate sized room with windows on one wall and various seating and table options. There were plenty of food and drink options and it was about on par with most average hotel breakfast buffets; scrambled eggs, toast, sausage and bacon, waffle station, cereal, fruit and of course coffee. We ate breakfast and checked out by 11 am and were very happy with this hotel. It met our expectations of a well appointed mid-range business hotel with very good service and friendly and responsive staff.
A special thank you to Evelyn with whom I spoke prior to arrival and ensured our room preferences were taken care of! This is a perfect choice for a quick getaway or extended trip. I do recommend upgrading to Club Level if available and not too much of a cost increase. It is easily a $30 value and perhaps more if you use the lounge in the afternoon or evening, plus the generally better rooms make for a pleasant...
