Antoine Higginbottom, the Assistant General Manager on 2/11, knew we were Bonvoy Members since 2017 and that we were exhausted after checking in at 11:30 pm, after a 6 hour roadtrip. He showed no concern, nor empathy for my husband and I, after a credit card error that was not our fault. After paying the deposit and 1 night charge, we sat there waiting for a 1/2hr. He finally came out and told us, that he didn’t see an authorization #, though I showed him $265.25 was taken out of my bank acct. I told him our credit union was closed, but that we could call first thing in the morning to get the approval # since we both saw the hold on my phone. We had no other available credit card to use, nor would we have wanted to take a chance and pay again. We didn’t expect for your manager to tell us we can’t stay and that he’s cancelling our reservations we made on the app. Not only was it now past midnight, but it was pouring raining, we had nowhere else to stay for the night, so for the first time ever, we slept in our car. I came back on the 13th to speak with the General Manager, Jesse Oldman, since their phone system was down on the 12th. Jesse apologized for Antoine’s lack of compassion and that he should have allowed us to stay and handled the payment in the morning, especially seeing the hold and knowing we were members. He wasn’t sure how to release the hold and told us to call our bank, but for the inconvenience he would add 20,000 points to my acct, equivalent to a 1 night stay. We appreciated his kindness for what we went through, but since then, I haven’t heard back from Jesse. We didn’t receive the courtesy points and we no longer see the cancelled reservation that was listed on my app. Fortunately I took pictures of both reservation numbers and the hold that was placed on my bank card. My bank said the amount was authorized on 2/11 and unfortunately, we had to wait 8 days for it to fall off. I usually never complain, but this was unacceptable, disappointing, caused a hardship due to me being disabled, which they had no idea about and a last minute emergency trip started off negatively. I’m not sure what happened to Jesse, the General Manager. He didn’t keep his promise regarding the courtesy points, which we thought was a sincere gesture, then for some reason he deleted proof of my cancelled reservation. This has definitely affected our future with Marriott.

So we came up for a quick trip to see a show and hang out for the weekend. This was a convenient area and distance to where we were going and had the space we were looking for. It was an easy drive from San Diego and easy to find with lots of parking. The check in process was not a problem and accommodating most of our needs was simple too. Beyond that it isn’t a place I would stay at again. In 2024 in California it is mind boggling to me that if you want/need more than one bedroom that this place isn’t ADA compliant. That wasn’t on their website and wasn’t in the booking information and my friend is currently immobile waiting to have surgery. We needed more than one bed for the four of us. Finding the building was easy and there was ample parking and a handicap spot right in front of the building. The stairs were narrow and overall the outside needs updating. We entered the suite and it had a decent layout. The kitchen area had a large peninsula and chairs. The counter is granite and in good condition. The chairs were extremely worn and need to be changed out. The kitchen was a good size and it and the fridge were clean which was a positive. The dishes and silverware were an issue. There were odd numbers of things not a four piece setting as it should have been. There were three plate one bowl three salad plates. There were three forks, two spoons, and four knives. It was just annoying. The beds were clean as were the bathrooms. The first floor bath oddly didn’t have a toilet paper holder. Why? The loft bed area was fine and clean and also had a tv. The bathroom was decent and stocked okay. There was only one face cloth and hand towel. A set of two would have been more appropriate. While getting ready later the first evening I discovered that the motion sensor light in the loft vanity area shut off every 30 seconds or so. So while putting on makeup I had to keep swiping at the air or moving but as soon as I stood still it would shut off. The amenity we were excited to use the hot tub was closed. Just another bummer. Lastly, the customer service was lacking in communication overall but was pleasant when we were able to get ahold of staff. While we had a good relaxing weekend we will find a different property for our next trip up. Step up your game, Marriott.

Check in was a horrible mess. I had even called the day before and was added as roomate, since my husband is on our bonvoy number. The man GM? was rude and I even showed him where I called and what time. No apology. Made my husband come in. Then the rude girl with 2 colored hair decides to jump in and she was horrible speaking to my husband. My husband said this is my wife. She made the reservation, she is allowed to check in. Even after that the 2 colored hair girl says to him he needs to say the exact words - you can add my wife to the reservation. She continued to argue and badger him. He explained several times that he had given this ok. She wouldn't listen. Next the GM man Threatened twice to cancel the reservation before we even checked in. If I had another place to go, I would have, but we had just drove 7 hours. Horrible customer service. Next the room: No toilet paper - had to call twice after not receiving it after 50 mins on first call No shampoo in container No body wash in container No hair dryer in room - called and said someone will be there at some time might take a bit I called 5 times in the first 4 hours just to get supplies that SHOULD have been in the room. Dirty carpet Lights out in parking lot Several police lights in parking lot Gate broke anyone can drive in/out, but they still charge $17 per day for "secure" parking Tv in bedroom doesn’t work. Unable to change channels using the remote. Called and was told that is just how it is. Have to restart and use the guide only - won’t fix Didn’t clean room at all even though they said every other day Garbage left all over property see pictures Hot tub covered and not working but advertised on site (see their main photo on the website attached) Sports court not even there anymore - now a cement patio Now we can get to the drugs and people openly doing them in the parking lot and around the property. There was a guy sitting in the parking lot all 3 days rolling blunts and doing drugs. He was there from morning until night. Even had to ask him to move repeatedly so we can park our car. This was one of the works stays we have ever had and the worst residence inn ever.

I stayed here for business from 12/4 to 12/24. It was a disaster from the start. I came with a group of about 15 others, each in our own rooms of course. When we arrived for check in, most of us had to wait hours to get a room. The first night, one of the girls in the group was robbed most likely by a cleaning lady, since there was no forced entry. Everything she brought with her was taken. The hotel refused to help her unless she could provide receipts for everything she had ( who keeps receipts and travels with them for clothes they bought 2 or more years ago). Every single night, one of us had some type of incident, and if it wasn't someone trying to break in, knocking on our doors, etc, it was people screaming outside, partying late, domestic violence, etc. Every single day there were police officers here for some incident. My personal problem was one of my last nights here. At about 2:30 in the morning there was a large group outside partying at the grill area ( my room overlooked this area) that woke me up with loud music, yelling, tables getting knocked around. I tried calling the front desk to ask if they could please tell them to atleast lower the volume. I couldn't get thru for a 1/2 hour, and on the phone with my husband, he could hear all of the noise thru the phone. He called for me, was able to get thru to the front desk, and Francesca promised she would send out security. By this time I'm wide awake so I watched out my patio door to see if security showed up. They never did. So I spent the next HOUR AND A HALF trying to reach the front desk with the room phone and my personal phone. It was either they took the phone off the hook, put it on silent, or just blatantly disregarded it ringing. I was finally able to reach someone thru the Marriott app. At 440 she told me security had been sent out and the party left, as I am physically standing there watching them still party. I was told by her the manager would be in at 11am the following morning. When I went to speak to them, they weren't there. I was then told 2pm. I went in at 3pm and was told he was making rounds around the complex. I had to walk around until I found him. He was very polite and understanding and I felt we had a good calm conversation. My biggest concern was if they have 24/7 security who walks around the complex all night, how did this party go unnoticed for 2 hours? However, with all of the break ins, and fighting going on during my stay, it was pretty concerning that I couldn't reach anyone for 2 hours. Thankfully it wasn't something that was more urgent. Forget the dirt, worn furniture, nasty stains, pass this place by because of the theft and lack of accountability on Marriott's end. Also, I opened what I thought was a closet in my bathroom. Turns out it was the furnace. I know I shouldn't have been able to open that door, but I could because there was a key snapped off in the lock. The entire furnace was caked in dust. Now I know why my allergies flared up so bad. Stricker plate on my door was damaged from what I assume was a break in at some point. Also stayed here this time last year with the same problem, cars get stolen, just steer clear of this place. Also, the manager promised to give me 10k extra points for my troubles. I had now been almost 2 weeks since I checked out, I haven’t received these points. Do not...

Update 1/28/25 I still have yet to hear anything back about my situation, not even the manager of the hotel which he told me that the insurance would reach out to me! Do better!

I would 100% recommend NOT staying here. The beds are completely disgusting and carpets will leave you feet black everything is wore down/broken and there will be cops outside every day and every night

Hello everyone, I'm in California for a business trip for just under a month and the company I work for has contracts with Marriott and my company has placed us at this specific residents inn Marriott for YEARS. I flew here December 4th and got to the hotel and placed my belongings in my room, at 8:30pm I had left to go get some food I then had returned and was in my room at 10:47 and realized that ALL of my belongings were stolen out of my room, I went to the lobby and they couldn't help me at the time or get in contacted with their manager until the morning so l then also contacted the police and they also weren't any help and said I could not make a police report because they do not have a suspect and gave me a case number. -during this time I went into the lobby both security guards were sitting on their phones and not doing what they are supposed to do, which is walk around and make sure that the place is secured, after this I then returned to my hotel room, collected my thoughts and gathered the food that I had bought for my time being in California. I returned to the lobby because the police recommended me switching rooms I did not get any help transferring my things to my next room and this was at 2 AM the room that they had placed in and it was completely disgusting. The sheets were dirty. There was trash on the floor hair in the bathroom and much more, I then had to wait for them to place me into another room because they didn't have any clean rooms which took about 10 hours for them to give me another DIRTY room and then I FINALLY got a clean room. After all this I was finally able to meet and sit down with the manager, he did not show me the cameras or the times for the keycard used on my room -which I was told they would provide those to me I gave him my incident report for the hotel a copy of my list of almost everything that was stolen from me and my case number and he said within 3-5 days I would hear back from the company and insurance which I have still not heard I'm currently still staying at this hotel and l've had to call the front desk to send security out because of people randomly knocking on my door in the middle of the night, there has been more break ins cops are here every single day and much more! I would 100% not choose this...

This is my 4th time staying at this hotel for anime convention related reasons. The convention center is literally across the street.

Sadly over the course of my stays over the years, certain aspects of this hotel have decreased in quality. Usually my group of friends love staying here and get excited about certain things, namely the free breakfast buffet, spacious loft suite rooms, and the jacuzzi.

To begin, the jacuzzi was out of order but the pool was still open. Disappointing. My friends and i had been looking forward to the jacuzzi for months. We had to settle for dipping our feet in hot water in the tubs in our rooms.

Secondly, they now charge $17 a day for parking. Considering the high cost rates of this hotel, it should be free for guests. Also it doesnt matter if you check-in ahead of time online and sign up for the $7 per day parking, they still charge you the $17 AND you have to fight to have the $7 parking per day fee you signed up ahead for online. What???

Thirdly, the rooms often smell like sewage if housekeeping doesnt run the dishwasher ahead of time. Twice now our rooms were plagued by sewage smells and we found out it was because of dirty water sitting at the bottom of the dishwasher for days. We had to figure out how to run it ourselves to get rid of the horrid smell.

And finally, the breakfast buffet. Staff failed to keep up with guest demand for breakfast all 4 days of our stay. In the past they were able to serve the same amount of people in a timely manner. They also served better options. They got lazy this time around and served prepackaged breakfast croissant sandwiches that were steamed in bags yet were still frozen in the middle. Staff failed to put out signs limiting guests to only one or two at a time. Some guests would rush the line to get 5 or 6 breakfast sandwiches to take back to their rooms. So there was always a line of 10+ people waiting 30+ minutes for refills on the breakfast sandwiches. The sausage patties were not refilled in a timely manner. The scrambled eggs were not refilled in a timely manner. The yogurt cups or bagels were not refilled almost at all. They refilled those maybe twice during the entire breakfast hours. In the past, this breakfast buffet was a dream. It became a nightmare. We almost considered walking down the street to the Denny's instead by the 3rd day.

What happened to this hotel? It used to be my favorite. I feel like i let my friends down and embarrassed myself from how much i hype it up. Cant justify its pricing anymore for the current services and quality.

Makes me so sad. I loved...
