Opelika’s First Brewery continues to be the Best. Established by three locals that loved to brew beer, Red Clay has seen steady growth over the past five years. What money the three didn’t have was most certainly replaced by heart. Brewing capacity has increased, several brews are available locally in cans, and it’s hard to find a bar in the area that doesn’t have at least one of their current brews. Wait, there’s more, a canning line is to be installed in coming weeks to move some of the canning inhouse. The artwork that depicts the various beers is the handiwork of a former beer slinger turned graphic artist who calls Nashville her home now. Their weekly trivia, called Brains & Brews seems to draw the biggest crowds of various venues. Questions are posted on one of the big TVs along with the regular asking by a moderator. Special beer and Pizza pricing several days a week is a nice touch. I am looking forward to their 2nd Annual OysterFest, co-sponsored by The Depot on the 24th. It’s hard to list all the events and community involvement of Red Clay, so I’d check out their Facebook page to keep current of some fun activities. With Red Clay, we need just one brewery in Opelika. Nice job guys!

Loved this local brewery! We sat outside at the picnic tables out front with wonderful 63 degree weather! We tried the Southern Bumpkin (sweet potato brown ale) which was delicious and fall/wintery. We also had the River Defender (session IPA) which was a good light crushable IPA, and the amazing Murder Creek award-winning Cherry cider (3rd in the nation!). We had the Greek pizza for lunch which was delicious on a wheat-like crust—so yummy! Definitely recommend stopping by Red Clay for the interesting beers and unique flavors! Loved it! Just a note, they do not do flights but kindly offer samples of all of their offerings! They also offer wine bottles for sale, so we are looking forward to trying the Merlot we purchased ($15).

Very nice brewery! I wouldn’t quite give the beer 5-stars, but it was still enjoyable. The staff were friendly and always ready to serve me a drink. The place has a solid mojo, and the bathrooms are clean. There’s some picnic tables outdoors if you wish to sit outside. Plenty of street parking on both sides of the tracks. Food looked very tasty as well. Worth checking out and I’d choose it over Resting Pulse, which is only a couple hundred feet away.

My wife and I were in this area visiting our daughter over the Thanksgiving Holidays. I happened to find a special on Groupon for a tour and tasting and figured why not try it out. We enjoy craft beer and they had sours on their menu. I love a good sour beer.

Once we arrived a lady come up to our table and asked what we would like. (Later on we figured out that you are supposed to walk up to the bar to place your order and then find a table.) We ended up ordering a flight containing two ciders, two sours, and a blonde. I'm not really a cider person because they tend to be too sweet for my taste. However, their ciders were not as sweet as any of those that I have tasted before. I actually enjoyed the orange cider. Their Sours were also very good. I ended up buying a growler of their Lemon Tea Sour. It is one of the best sours that I have ever tasted.

We also enjoyed the tour of where they brew the beer. Patrick was an awesome tour guide. He took extra time explaining the process of how their beer is brewed and then canned. One of the things that stood out the most was how clean they kept their brewing area.

Red Clay Brewing Company is now a place that we will visit every time we are...
