Amazing service and great tasting pizza! We arrived from out of town and decided on pizza for an easy meal. Being spring break, everything was busy.
I wasn't surprised that our order was taking longer than the expected 30 minutes. Back when I was in school I worked at a pizza joint and I know how chaotic it can get with huge surges of customers.
So after an hour passed, I thought I would call to check the status of our order. I waited on hold for over 20 minutes and I could just picture the phone lines being slammed with pizza orders.
Finally, a very helpful young woman, with a kind (not stressed out) voice, answered and asked what she could do for me. I said I was checking on our order. And she said, "Sure, I can check. What's your name and order number?"
After providing those details she said, "OH, oh, hold on." Back on hold.
She came back on and said, "I am so, so sorry. I am just going to be honest with you. When we got to your order, we ran out of cheese."
I couldn't believe it. I've heard of running out of toppings, but never cheese at a pizza place. I said really? And she said yes I am so, so sorry. We have been slammed tonight. I told her I understood and could only imagine.
She offered an incredible offer to take care of us the next day or while we were on vacation. Even though we were hungry and I realized we would have to order elsewhere I agreed. Like I said, back in the day, I've been in this situation where all heck breaks loose and people start losing it. Not here, everyone kept their cool and their service level at a 10 out of 10.
All of a sudden, I heard some hooting and hollering in the background and I was told to hold on again.
My friendly gal said, I think we are going to still get your pizza to you. I said really? She said yep, we're making a dash for more cheese and we will get it made.
She also said they would honor the deal they made for us and still deliver the pizza for us for free for the hassle.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate Surfside Pizza's hustle. Their honesty in leveling with me and their commitment to getting the job done blew me away.
I am so thankful for small businesses like this. These are the people that keep America running. A positive attitude and a get r done mindset is the heartbeat of every successful small business. Surfside Pizza hits it out of the park.
Oh, and how was the pizza?
One of the best I've ever had! Fantastic thin crust. Fresh toppings, perfect golden tan on the cheese. Every bite was a memory I won't...
Read moreI was excited to find this gem. The pizza was a hit with my kids. (15 & 8) and thin crust is my favorite. If you like really cheesy pizza, you'll love Surfside. I could have used a little more sauce, but no one else in my family had issues with how it was made. I was disappointed when I opened my pizza and realized that one of the toppings I ordered wasn't on it. I got a ham, onion, green pepper, and mushroom pizza but didn't get any mushrooms. The other toppings were all accounted for, but I felt like I could have had a few more. It seemed sparse. My daughters bacon and ham was covered and was delicious!! My son enjoyed his cheese pizza and asked to bring his leftover to the beach tomorrow. The atmosphere was great! The Beach Boy themed menu was really cute. I love a good beach themed restaurant, and this one was adorable. The staff was kind and attentive. We walked in to order 3 pizzas to go, and immediately, staff directed us to the paper menus so everyone could look before we ordered. We received the order pretty quickly (15 minutes or so), considering we didn't order ahead it it was obvious that others did. They have plenty of seating, inside and outside. They are open late, which is very helpful when you need an actual meal but stay on the beach too...
Read moreWhat an amazing place. Fantastic atmosphere, friendly and courteous staff, good pizza, etc. I'm from the Detroit, MI area which has some amazing pizza places (mostly single location mom and pop places even many locals don't know about.) I walked into Surfside last night to give them a try. I was immediately met with beach/surf memorabilia throughout the inside. I was pleasantly greeted by the staff. I ordered a custom pizza (chicken and pineapple with sauce on top and bottom.) When handed the pizza I could tell it had considerably weight to it, which is good. I don't like a thin pizza at all. I brought the pizza back to our hotel and my kids loved it. So far, this is definitely the best pizza we have had in Alabama. If surfing legend Jeff Spicoli were looking to order a pizza to Mr Hand's class, this would be it, on our time of course. All I need is some tasty Surfside Pizza, a cool beverage, and I'm fine....
