Filo Dessert Co. in Old Town Orange is a delightful new addition to the local dessert scene, specializing in Mediterranean, Arabic, and Middle Eastern sweets that captivate the palate. On our recent visit, we indulged in a made-to-order Knafe, its warm, gooey cheese and crisp, syrup-soaked layers delivering an unforgettable burst of flavor. We also couldn’t resist grabbing a few Dubai chocolates, a rare treat they had in stock, which were as decadent as promised. The shop’s ambiance is a standout—vibrant yet cozy décor, with intricate patterns and warm lighting, creates an inviting space that feels like a sweet escape. The service was exceptional, with staff exuding warmth and offering thoughtful recommendations that elevated our experience. Filo Dessert Co. is a haven for dessert enthusiasts, blending traditional Middle Eastern flavors with modern flair. We’re already eager to return for more of their rich chocolates and to sample their intriguing ice cream offerings, which promise to be just as delightful. For an authentic and memorable dessert experience, head to Filo Dessert Co. in Old Town Orange—you won’t be disappointed by this charming gem’s sweet offerings.

First time trying middle eastern dessert in California. I noticed that it's quite popular in European countries but it's my first time in California. I personally don't like baklavas much because they are usually way too soggy and too sweet. Knafeh was wayyyyy better than baklava to my tastebuds. Crispy texture, good amount of syrup (semi sweet). Not sure what type of cheese (tasted like mozzarella?) it is, but it's filled with a lot of cheese that it did fill my stomach. The cheese was not salty so it went so well with the rest of the dessert. Both ice cream flavors were good. Pistachio one is made with mastika. It's more slippery (like cooked taro) and more sticky texture than regular ice cream. It may not be for everyone but did not bother me much. Saffron karak was just flawless. I was served by the owner lady, and she got a really energizing vibe. She was full of energy it brightened the ambience of the entire cafe. I loved it. The entire menu is not so economic, though.

Quick Summary Wonderful spot to try some Mediterranean desserts! Really enjoyed the Mistika ice cream and the crispy knafeh. Plenty of seating available. Street parking available but it's a short walk from the DT Orange area Food- 5 stars Really enjoyed my first experience with Mediterranean ice cream. I wanted to try something different from the typical baklava, so tried out the Mistika ice cream and the crispy knafeh. Both were incredibly good. It was a good mix of hot and cold (ate it separately) and I really enjoyed the different textures of the knafeh (with the creamy cheese being complemented by the crispy noodle like bits). Service- 5 stars The service was great. They were helpful with samples and explaining the menu since it was our first time Bottom Line Excellent food and service. Can't wait to go back!

Filo Dessert Co is a gem with a modern Mediterranean vibe that's beautifully designed, making it an ideal spot for a date night dessert. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a contemporary twist that sets it apart. The staff, particularly the ladies behind the counter, are not only friendly but also craft a mean brew. My Americana was brewed to perfection, balancing rich flavors with a smooth finish.

I visited with a group of four, and we sampled a variety of their offerings. The Lemon-Mint ice cream was a refreshing delight, bursting with zesty and minty notes that were perfectly balanced. The strawberry ice cream stood out, as it genuinely felt like eating fresh strawberries with every bite—rich, creamy, and intensely flavorful. The Juju Berry added a unique touch, enhancing the overall experience with its sweet and slightly tart flavor.

This place is a clean, gourmet haven that I foresee visiting often in the future. The quality and creativity in their desserts make Filo Dessert Co a standout destination for anyone looking to enjoy a sophisticated and delectable treat. Whether you're planning a casual meet-up or a special date night dessert, this spot is sure to impress...

The ice cream is legit. I got banana, juju berry, strawberry, mango. The fruit flavors were strong and had no fake flavors. Not too sweet either so the natural fruit flavors shine. It reminded me of gelato in Italy (of the strength of the natural fruit flavors and not overly sweet). The juju berry reminds me of frutti di bosco sorbettos. I loveddddd it. The consistency is slightly similar to Turkish ice cream. Maybe it has salep in it as Google says Syrian ice cream has it as well, and/or mastic. (My wife didn’t like it. It reminded her of carrageenan, another polysaccharide. She also said there was a taste she didn’t like). I loved it. Airy and creamy texture like a good ice cream / gelato but different.

I’ll be back for the knafeh, and other ice cream flavors!

Some reviews said it’s pricey but for not tasting artificial or naturally extracted fake flavors, it was worth it to me. (Though it still might, I just can’t taste it)

Baklava was average. Not better or worse than the other options around OC. (I’m still on the hunt for...
