Purely delightful. Purely delectable. Totally affordable. Completely worth it. If you want huge portions of tasty, fresh, & fabulous food, you found your new spot. I'm pretty sure I haven't had a quality, farm to table meal since the last time I was in my kitchen. The veggies were premium quality, as well as, every other ingredient in my overloaded veggie omelet. Everything was exquisitely seasoned, such that you could taste every flavor. The fried potatoes were delicious and cut by hand, not from a bag (remember when)? The homemade fresh jam for my gluten-free toast was remarkable. Did I say gluten free toast?! Did I mention the gluten free toast was no extra charge?! That doesn't happen anywhere at any time. It shows they care about their client's special dietary needs and not just the bottom line. Unfortunately, the toast was dry and too crunchy. That's the only thing I would change about the meal, but I can't have butter since i'm dairy free, so partially my fault. Also, there was only one piece of toast, & I usually eat the whole loaf. Ha ha. Remember, bread is not a side dish. It is part of the main dish. Coffee lovers rejoice. You get a full pot of coffee left at your table. And don't worry if you drink it all yourself. I'm not saying I drank a whole pot myself, but several people watching me said I did. They also mentioned that I asked for more, and I got it without any dirty looks from the staff. My server Victor was pleasant and attentive. Admittedly, they were packed, so he was running around just to keep up. The only downfall (if it is a downfall) was the acoustics in the restaurant. If you're looking for something quaint and quiet, this is not the place. It was loud & noisy. But it was a joyous noise. Just bring ear muffs if you are sensitive. Thanks to all the congenial and eager staff at First Watch for a fantastic meal and a top quality culinary experience! PS, you won't need ketchup for the potatoes, but if you must have some, feel free because the ketchup is specially made for them from whole ingredients and zero artificial flavors or sweeteners. Nice!...
Read moreI too, like other post have dined at First Watch in Dayton regularly, moved to Northeast Ohio.
Found a first watch drove 45 minutes looking forward to a great breakfast.
Arrived at 11:30 Saturday, yes it was crowded
No waiting area to speak of . Standing People crowded the reception and cashier, as well as the only exit.
I was asked if I wanted to sit at a community table, described as table of ten, taking place of "single seat counter" she said you will get your food much quicker.
Ok I sat a a dirty place surrounded by dirty dishes. I wonder if it is their policy to seat folks at dirty tables.
It required me to clean my area with alcohol wipes as well as the flatware, water spotted and unappetizing.
( even in the third world where I have eaten at restaurant, the Waite staff when not busy would be wiping off Spots in flatware or before opening I ordered the eggs Benedict classic, water and hot tea, I got two out of three.
Food came simultaneously with the bill.
Food was most disappointing. "Red vine ripe tomatoes" as described in the menu, were neither.
White pale green house tomatoes (Whole foods is next door, get a red tomato)
Sauce was instant or canned.
Water came after I asked again and was finished eating
Again I had to push through people to pay bill, and ask a group blocking exit to yield a path.
Terrible dining experience.
Solution: if you are overwhelmed call in more staff
If waitress can't remember order, issue pen and paper
3 don't advertise and described what you don't serve.
Don't make excuses "too busy" not in waitress tip employee vocabulary. But with the volume of people they figure they will get tipped regardless.
You are in the restaurant business act like it
Prices double, same quality food at subpar eateries
Now recruit and post a "put up job review"
Stating every thing was fantastic right after mine to...
Read moreIf you love horrible service and a very slow kitchen, this is your place. I have been to this restaurant in other cities and states (all with exceptional experiences), but this one is either poorly managed or just not ready for the public. I was in a party of two that went to this restaurant for breakfast around noon on Sunday, 8-19-18. The place was clearly understaffed, or staffed with people who have no business interfacing with the public. We were seated in about 15 minutes (i.e., it was not particularly busy), and waited for at least 10-15 minutes before we had to ask for someone to come and wait on us. After the server we spoke to took our order, our server showed up with our drinks, but she seemed pissed to be waiting tables (we are always very nice and respectful). She poured me a cup of coffee, but only filled the cup about 30% full. We asked for water. She never came back with any water, and even though she walked past our table repeatedly, she never stopped to see if we needed anything even though our glasses were clearly empty. We finally had to flag her down again 10 to 15 minutes later to ask for water (a second time), and a refill on drinks, which she eventually provided. We ordered an omelette and the traditional breakfast (two scrambled eggs and potatoes), and the meal took at least 30 minutes to arrive. The food was good, as always. We then sat around again forever with no server. We never got a check. We eventually went up to the register and asked to leave and for a check. The person at the register seemed shocked that we had any issues that morning, even though the tables around us were all clearly having the same kind of issues, and waited forever for their food as well. After we walked out, there was a dead bird on the ground (pictured), which is about how I would rate...
