My partner and I stayed at this hotel for five nights. We are two graduate students traveling on a very tight budget, so we were expecting a clean, basic room with a kitchenette.
Upon arrival, we noticed a number of issues related to cleanliness: there was a large spot of dust on the bathroom doorframe, sticky spots on the kitchenette floor, and a few mystery substances smeared in various spots (one seemed to be human boogers on the table...I'm hoping that I'm wrong). Many of the items we expected to accompany the kitchenette were not in the room, but were available at the desk. We quickly learned that just because the signage stated that these items were at the desk did not necessarily mean that they were actually available or even clean. In fact, the silverware we received had dried food particles on them. We also requested two additional pillows since we were only given two flat pillows for our queen bed, and there were no extra pillows at that time. There was also NO laundry detergent in the facility. As we continued our stay, we noticed a seemingly endless array of issues with our room: one lamp didn't work and another flickered on after being turned off, the table was broken and barely standing, there was no hair dryer, all of the cabinets smelled like smoke (despite being a smoke-free room), and we discovered a large amount of food and debris under the bed, including a goldfish cracker, a sock (not ours), a piece of sticky plastic (from alarm clock or visor?), popcorn, and other crumbs. The bed was very uncomfortable; I'll likely need to see the chiropractor upon my return home. We attempted to call the front desk and discovered that the phone did not work at all. We also had issues getting back inside of the hotel at night, as the door locks and keycards don't always work at the front desk (which is often unstaffed during the day and almost always unstaffed at night). On top of everything, while the hotel was mostly quiet during our stay, we experienced guests yelling in the hall one morning followed by staff yelling a few hours later.
I do want to acknowledge that the staff we talked with truly seemed to be doing their best, especially over the New Year holiday. That said, we were quite disappointed with our stay here and want to make sure that other potential guests know the ins and outs of what we went through...
Read moreThe hotel is clean overall, but the air is dirty, really dirty. Although my king suite has a large clearly visible stain in the middle of the floor near the section between the office desk and the bed; otherwise the room was a good price for the money. ||||I just got out of the hospital today and the real problem I have with every Extended America Hotel from here to Florida that I recently stayed in ;(and 5 in the Cleveland area since May 2023) is that knowing that 41,000 deaths occur from Secondhand Smoke and Death Exposure to secondhand smoke each year; they do nothing about protecting non-smoking Extended Stay America paying customers being forced to walk through a floating sea of disgust and death to enter the building.|||| Secondhand smoke kills 7,333 annually by lung cancer. Secondhand smoke causes 33,951 annual deaths from heart disease. If you stay at one of the Extended Stay America's that I have stayed in recently you will be forced to walk through cigarette smoke because smoking restrictions posted about where you can smoke and not smoke are not enforced. Everyone smokes at the front entrance to of the building because they don't give a damn about anyone but themselves, they are all selfish bastards and Extended Stay America does not make them care. ||||Yes, I will probably leave, although I sought to stay here a month but it is hypocritical to complain and not take action. The complaint is my first action and if no changes occur, I will move out. |||| If the State and Federal government's can go after the prescription drug companies, what about the Second Hand Smoke contributors? ||||In 2021, the number of reported deaths involving prescription opioids totaled 16,706 and the Drug companies paid billions. The number of deaths from Second Hand Smoke was 41,000. Hotel's that do not enforce the no smoking policy should be looked at as a major source of contributing to Second Hand Smoke and former Hotel guests who develop Second Hand Smoke related complications should be able to...
Read moreStaff was friendly. That's the only positive thing I can say. Now to preface this: I work in construction and live in a single wide trailer. This place is an absolute dump. After a pleasant welcome from the staff and checking in, I step onto a very rickety elevator that has a 2 person limit and go to my room. Had to go back to the front desk because the key cards wouldn't work. Finally get into my room and proceed to go through the first 3 stages of grief. 1 Denial: this isn't too terrible... Bathroom door won't latch, dirt and loose change on top of the refrigerator which is leaning at about a 10 degree angle. Rust on the cooktop, rust and peeling paint inside the microwave. All appliances look like they were discontinued 20 years ago. Damage all over the walls from what I assume was furniture being moved or bumped into. The dresser drawers were damaged and wouldn't close right. I toss my backpack on the bed and it wobbles like a seesaw. I look under the bed and the bed legs are uneven by almost 2 inches. One leg has a piece of rolled up cardboard shoved under it in an attempt to even it. Also under the bed are a handful of gummi bears, wrappers and what I think was half a box worth of spilled cocoa crispy cereal. Second stage-Anger: how can any self respecting hospitality business be ok with this. Charging any amount of money to stay here is criminal. Third stage-Bargaining: ok ok it's just one night. I can survive one night. Sheets looked relatively clean until I placed my hand on it and could see stains on the mattress underneath. Maybe I'll sleep on the chair. Stained, and smelled. I then realized I was contemplating just sleeping in my vehicle at that point. Called my supervisor and told him to put me somewhere else. You couldn't pay me...
