Shake Shack Pinecrest — Restaurant in Orange

The good: It is close to University Hospitals and is located in the Pinecrest Shopping mall, which is an absolute dream on a sunny day, especially with the option for outdoor dining. The inside is new and clean. Employees were all working, seemingly as a team. The atmosphere is definitely not that of a fast food place and while the menu only jas options one would expect of fast food, it is kicked up a notch.

We ordered online. Our food was ready faster than expected. I was thrilled to have the option of a gluten-free bun, though there were no other gluten-free options since the fries, shakes, etc were all labeled in the menu as having gluten.

When we received our order, both my gluten-free and my wife’s gluten-containing were packed open on one side and together in the same bag with the gluten-containing fries. Further the burgers BUT WERE NOT LABELED. We were dining in the restaurant, but if we had picked up to go, I would have no way of knowing which was mine. The burger was very tasty, though a bit salty. Overall, the price for the quality was the best value in Cleveland.

There was also a sticker across the top of each drink that was very difficult to remove and the residue covered the whole for the straw. The order summary with my name and phone number displayed prominently on the outside of the bag peeled off without leaving a mark.

Lastly, and I know this isn't their fault, but worth the mention, the parking is awful. There are two handicapped spots in front of their door. Those being taken, the remaining spots are impossible to navigate with a wheelchair and require you to ride on the street side of parked cars for over a block in order to get...

TL:DR - Slow service and very very salty food that is not worth the price. Use your money elsewhere.

Here's a summary of my experience and my thoughts on the food:

I went there around 6 PM on a Tuesday evening. I walked it and everything looked clean. I found the register and waited for the lady to take my order. I waited roughly 5-10 minutes for someone to show up. Not a huge deal - I wasn't in a hurry, but I don't think I've ever had to wait for a cashier at a fast food joint.

I order a double cheeseburger, bacon cheese fries, and a large drink. Came out to roughly $17.50 or so. I gave a 20 and gave the change as tip. Lady was friendly (but not punctual).

I fill up my drink and take a seat to wait for my order. They didn't seem excessively busy, but there were a few DoorDash orders ahead of me. I waited roughly 10 minutes. Got my food, left.

I was staying at a nearby hotel, so I drive there and go to my room. Roughly 2-4 minutes after getting my food.

Food was hot but I could not finish the burger. Now I love my share of unhealthy food, but this was the saltiest burger I've ever tasted. I could feel myself getting dehydrated eating this thing (exaggeration to stress the point that it was excessively salty). Fries were okay. I was able to finish them all, but for the price I expected more cheese and a larger portion. Barely any cheese, but to their credit they used real bacon (not the bites/bits). Drink was as expected.

In sum, I would not go back. For that price, I could go somewhere with quicker service and...

We stopped at Shake Shack in the middle of a road trip. We had to wait a long time to order. Upon ordering, we were prompted to enter our table tent number but there were no table tents to be found. We asked staff about this and they seemed bothered, but told us to enter 0.

After ordering, we went to sit down and there were no clean tables. We saw wipes and decided to wipe down our own table so we could sit and wait. After about 15 minutes, I received a text that our order was ready. We approached the counter to collect our order. We stood there for 10-15 and just continued to wait. After finally retrieving our food, we sat down to hand everything out. My son opened his hot dog and it was covered in chili. He had ordered a plain hot dog. He didn't want chili, so we approached the counter to acquire the correct hot dog. One of the staff took the chili dog and placed it on tray with another order. A few minutes later, my son had the correct order. I was very disturbed by the fact that a hot dog that was opened by another customer was given to someone else. That is completely unsanitary.

Our food was dry and the chicken was almost dripping in grease. My daughter ordered a burger with avocado and there were two tiny pieces of avocado in the burger.

Overall the experience was terrible. We ended spending over $100 and well over an hour at the restaurant.

I will say that the Dubai shake was delicious. That was the only bright spot in our visit.

We will never return to Shake Shack and cannot recommend...
