If you are allergic to nuts, you CAN NOT EAT ANYTHING IN THIS STORE WITHOUT RISKING YOUR LIFE. A serious nightmare for food allergy sufferers.
This doesn’t look like a peanut butter cookie, but it is. There is no sign indicating this whatsoever and no indication of nuts in this cookie.
I only knew it was a peanut butter cookie because they had free samples out - without a sign. I asked what they were and they told me it was a peanut butter cookie sample. I told them how dangerous this was…Free, unmarked samples of one of the biggest allergens worldwide.
And then you look in the case, and the peanut butter cookie is literally touching another “peanut free” dessert. This is cross contamination and a SERIOUS food safety issue.
I mentioned this yesterday morning to the barista, who responded in a way that made me even more concerned. She stated that when the pastries are all delivered each morning - they are all just thrown together in the same box. They had no sign or disclaimer anywhere in the store mentioning this. If you are allergic to nuts, you CAN NOT EAT ANYTHING IN THIS STORE WITHOUT RISKING YOUR LIFE.
I can not emphasize enough how quickly this could harm someone, especially since the peanut butter cookie has no sign saying what it is/ no visible indication of there being nuts in there.
There is no disclaimer anywhere in the store about this very serious cross contamination issue. 1 out of every 10 people in the US have a lethal food allergy. Of those, 75% are allergic to nuts. Heartwood is playing with fire here.
However, I’d be more worried about risking someone’s life. Heartwood obviously doesn’t care about this.
I’ve been a loyal patron of this business up until now. This is serious food safety negligence. Until this can be fixed, I won’t be coming back. And if you have food allergies (10% of the entire population), you shouldn’t frequent this...
Read moreI've been coming to Heartwood (all locations) for a couple years now and NO CAFE in Ohio beats their coffee. I'm super picky about my coffee (how acidic, bitter, notes, etc) and I have tried almost all cafes around Cleveland and none of them compare to Heartwood - even beats Rising Star... The service is always so good and quick with super kind/welcoming employees, and the owner is always smiling! I absolutely adore the decor and vibe the cafe locations offer. It's the perfect place for a solo date, brunch/lunch, work spot, meeting, etc! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Heartwood and wish there was one closer to my city (Broadview Heights). I recommend this company to everyone looking for the best coffee (local and out of state)! Do yourself a favor and RUN to Heartwood now because I promise you all...
Read moreThis was our first visit. Based on our experience, we wouldn’t come back. The lady at the counter was nice enough and helpful. But the barista wasn’t very friendly. No one asked us if we wanted the coffee to -go, and we didn’t think to say anything. The barista called our name and our coffees were in ceramic coffee mugs. When we asked the barista to put our drinks in to-go cups, she just took the drinks back without saying anything. Poured our drinks in paper cups and handed them back. Said nothing. We didn’t mean to put here out. Sheesh. Thats too bad because other than that, we enjoyed the coffee. My favorite part about this coffee shop were the beautifully potted plants that were for sale...
