I recently had the opportunity to dine at SUPER ANTOJITOS, a restaurant that had been buzzing with popularity, especially for its famous Chapman Burrito. However, my experience left me with mixed feelings and a tinge of disappointment. While there were a few positives, the overall quality of the food, specifically the seasoning, the Chapman Burrito, and the meat fell short of expectations.
Let's start with the seasoning or rather the lack thereof. I found the dishes at SUPER ANTOJITOS to be severely under-seasoned. The flavors were bland and lacked the depth that is expected from a restaurant claiming to serve authentic and flavorful Mexican cuisine. It felt as though the kitchen had forgotten to infuse their dishes with the vibrant and aromatic spices that make Mexican cuisine so enjoyable. The absence of proper seasoning took away from the overall dining experience and left me craving for more flavor.
Now, onto the much-hyped Chapman Burrito. Unfortunately, the hype did not live up to reality. While the concept of a burrito inspired by the famous Nigerian drink seemed intriguing, the execution fell flat. The price attached to the Chapman Burrito was simply not justified by its taste and presentation. The combination of flavors and ingredients failed to create a harmonious blend, leaving the burrito feeling rather confused and lacking in coherence. It was a letdown, considering the buzz and anticipation surrounding this particular menu item.
In addition to the seasoning and the overhyped Chapman Burrito, the quality of meat in the dishes was disappointing. Whether it was the beef, chicken, or any other protein offered, I found the meat to be of subpar quality. The cuts were tough and lacked the tenderness that would have made them enjoyable. It was evident that the restaurant had compromised on the quality of the meat, which affected the overall taste and texture of the dishes. For a restaurant that prides itself on its Mexican cuisine, the lackluster quality of the meat was a significant drawback. Despite these shortcomings, I must mention that the service at SUPER ANTOJITOS was satisfactory. The staff was attentive, friendly, and accommodating throughout my visit. They were knowledgeable about the menu and provided prompt service, ensuring that all our needs were met. The restaurant's ambiance was also pleasant, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for diners.
In conclusion, while SUPER ANTOJITOS may have generated excitement and curiosity, my dining experience fell short of expectations. The lack of proper seasoning, the disappointing Chapman Burrito, and the subpar quality of meat were major drawbacks. However, the commendable service and pleasant ambiance did provide some positives. With improvements in the seasoning, the execution of their specialty items, and a focus on better quality meat, SUPER ANTOJITOS has the potential to offer a more enjoyable dining experience. As it stands, though, I cannot wholeheartedly endorse the restaurant, especially for those seeking a truly remarkable and flavorful Mexican...

After watching a TikTok and a Facebook review of this place myself and two of my friends drove from Huntington Beach to give them a try. What a mistake.👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
We enter the restaurant where we were ignored for the first three minutes while we stood inside the door, waiting to be seated after the three minutes a waiter hollered across the restaurant for us to see ourselves anywhere we chose.
And we were very pleasant with the waiter Marcos waiter number 67 according to the receipt
My two friends ordered the giant burrito that was advertised in the TikTok ad which came on a plate, covered with sauce, and topped with avocado
What they received was too small beef burritos wrapped up in a to go wrappers and thrown on a plate as if to say, we really don’t want you here take your food and go.
I noticed that the waiter never wrote down the orders, and was going off of memory always the best plan if you don’t want to get the order right, Which is exactly what happened.
I ordered the three item combo with two shredded beef tacos, a Chile Relleno with beans and rice.
Our orders seem to take much longer to arrive at our table than the other two tables that came in after us that received much better service, our orders arrived 20 minutes after ordering and five minutes after the two other tables that came in after us.
We were also given chips and salsa with refried beans which we were told was going to be complementary.
I received the wrong order:
I received two cold Chile Riano’s, a cold taco with no beans and rice. I asked the waiter about the beans and rice. He said that he would bring them, and then did also cold, I also ordered a fountain drink Coke as my friends did. when we ran out we practically had to beg to get them refilled and took some time to get it done.
Well, the biggest surprise was when we received our bills, what should have been a $20.99 combo and $4.25 for a soda outrageous, especially considering we had to beg for a refill, but the biggest insult of all was that the waiter charged me for every single item on my plate, as if it was al-a-cart, and to add insult to injury, charged me for what was supposed to be complementary chips and salsa an additional $3.50 what the hell.
My bill which should have been around $26. Total ended up being $32.74. Oh yeah, they also charge an additional $1,25 if you want to use your credit card.
I would never go to this place again the food was cold. The prices were already high and then they cheat on the charges and I would absolutely warn anyone else that is thinking of going to this place to pick something different. You can get better Mexican food at Miguel juniors, or any road side taco stand.
FIVE THUMBS DOWN...
Read moreTook my family there for Mother's Day. What a great experience. Nice artistic atmosphere in and out, cool and comfortable inside.
The food was unbelievably great. They start you off with fresh chips, salsa AND refried beans. You know a place has something to say about their beans if they give them to you as a starter when everyone else charges for them. The beans were very tasty, so I ended up eating them with the chips and forgot about the salsa.
The champion dish for me was the spicy hibiscus wings. I was expecting the usual batch of buffalo style wings with some spicy sauce. NOPE. They brought out a giant plate of FULL SIZED chicken wings on a beauitful red clay plate with this deep purple hibiscus sauce. Folks, these wings are in a league of their own. Incredible flavor. The sauce was sweet and had the right amount of heat that didn't overpower the flavor. A wonderful balance. The wings had a nice crunch and were perfectly tender and has a light coating of the sauce when they were brought out. The real fun was dipping them after taking a bite to get the full flavor experiencd. I was enjoying them so much that I asked one of the chefs why they aren't selling it by the bottle. Such a delicious and unique take on chicken wings that immediately won me over as a new customer. I saved one of the wings and scooped up the sauce on a seperate platter to have with my main course.
We got the Molcajete Antojitos. Once again, balance flavor won here. The sauce that the meat, cheese and nopales were soaking in was perfectly smokey, flavorful with the right touch of spice. I loved every bite. They served a seperate plate of beans and rice with it. A perfect meal for 3.
Service was very friendly and fast. I was happy to leave a generous tip because these folks work hard to make great food that stands apart from many other places.
I would say the prices are average and competitive to other dine-in Mexican restaurants, around $20-$30 per person. Getting a molcajete is a perfect way to get a full meal for 2-3 people.
Right then and there we decided to return for Father's Day. I can't wait. I'm even going to get an extra order of those hibiscus wings to go.
Normally my wife likes to take food pic for "the Gram" but we were so hungry and excited to eat that we forgpt to take some.
