Let me start by saying this review is solely based on the soft opening. I understand there are a lot of things they probably need to work out but I will update the review Once I come here again in a month or so when they are more established.
The restaurant is a decent size but I do have a complaint where the host stand and the first table are pretty much directly next to each other. There is no waiting room in this entire restaurant. If more than one or two parties are trying to put their name down at the host stand then they are literally standing up against the first seated table where people are eating. I would hate to sit at that first table because I would constantly have people literally standing up against my table or crowding my table while I'm eating. That would be a very uncomfortable feeling. I really feel they should remove that first table and maybe put seating benches or something because it is not a good placement where you have a restaurant with absolutely zero waiting room for people. The food overall was good. My soup dumplings we're not as round or full as I would like. You will see in my pictures that they came out already deflated and extremely flat. The flavor was great and it was extremely delicious but the soup dumpling did not have a lot of soup. And about half of our two orders of soup dumplings had holes in the dumplings where the soup had poured out of the bottom already. They also only give you one dish of dipping sauce with a little tiny bit of Ginger with every full order of soup dumplings. They are not giving each person their own unless you specifically asked . We have the vegetable fried rice that was delicious. We also got a coconut drink which I felt was good but in my personal opinion could be slightly sweeter. The orange chicken was okay. I think the flavor was good but the texture and consistency was not the best in my opinion. I felt like there was just a lot of glaze flavoring over the chicken but the chicken was not crispy at all. I don't know if they made a batch of orange chicken in bulk before they gave it but mine did not come out hot. The pan fried beef baos we're the best things that we tried. They were extremely flavorful and had a lot of soup in it. That one is a must if you come here. I got chicken pan-fried dumplings which were pretty good as well. I definitely think it should be slightly more crispy but overall the flavor was delicious. We also got the garlic green beans and that was also delicious. Overall the food here was great I would definitely come again but the service was hit or miss. The restaurant is beautiful in super clean looking but my biggest complaint would be where the host stand is in the fact that there is no waiting area. I would never want to sit at that first table because every time the door opens your blasted with either super cold air or on hot day you would be blasted with heat. Also the small shallow dishes they give you are not very sturdy. If they give you a metal spoon you cannot lean it on that dish because it will constantly tip over. The price here are...
Read moreI’m generally ok with the type of service I get in restaurants. I eat out 3-4 times a week. It’s commonplace for dumpling restaurants to provide efficient, no-frills service. However, I am rating this place because of the despicable service we received.
Someone in my party simply asked our waiter what a dish was at a table next to us. She asked in English, but the waiter bluntly said “I don’t speak Chinese” and walked away. We couldn’t get any more service from her after that. I had to get my own chopsticks when I needed another pair. When we wanted to order more food to-go, she would not acknowledge us, rushing past us several times. I attempted to make eye contact and politely waved my hand.
Before I go online to review a place, I assess the situation and often feel bad for those in the service industry. Maybe she was too busy? She did not provide a pleasant energy. She was frenetic and never introduced herself. Trivial things like being busy and not introducing yourself don’t bug me, especially in Asian restaurants. That's just how it is. However, not once did she come back to check on us. This is an open restaurant, so I can see she was going to everyone else. I finally had to say “can I get some service here?”
The waiter's name is Joy based on the invoice. Her behavior was blatantly rude and racist. Joy: why hate on Asians? My dining partner spoke to you in English; isn’t it racist of you to assume she was speaking Chinese? You’re Asian yourself and there’s no denying the color of your own skin. When you walk away without trying to understand, you're just making a fool of yourself. Your English was not one of a native either, so I don't know what your problem is.
We still left Joy a huge tip, considering part of the bill was to-go orders (we didn't want to stay). The tip was not because she deserved a penny, but because I didn’t want to deal with her and left cash. Management: please offer more training because your wait staff does not have basic manners. I saw reviews from others who feel the same way about Joy. I don't care if the food is good, treating people like that is no longer acceptable in present day America, and I feel compelled to stand up for...
Read moreIt was a windy day yesterday, but it blew me in the right direction.. to here!
My girlfriend and I arrived early afternoon to the restaurant. We were greeted almost immediately and were allowed to sit anywhere we'd like as there were only two other parties dining in at the time. The corner table for two was the perfect spot to enjoy our meal and where I could inconspicuously take photos.
The server who sat us down was also the person who helped us throughout our meal. He pointed out his personal favorites on the menu and we actually ended up most of them. We ordered Sauteed String Bean With Garlic, Spicy Chicken Wontons, Pan Fried Beef Buns, Mongolian Beef, and White Rice.
How was it all?
Sauteed String Bean With Garlic: Delicious. Plenty of flavor and cooked thoroughly. A little soft with a little crunch.
Spicy Chicken Wontons: 10 pieces of chicken wontons with house-made spicy sauce. They were good and not spicy at all!
Pan Fried Beef Buns: These were the last thing to arrive to our table and they were HOT (temperature). The bottom part is friend and the top is soft. It's best to break open the top with a fork or chopstick to let it cool. The soup was a little sweet and the beef inside was almost like bulgogi. Pretty good.
Mongolian Beef: A plate of beef, onion, green onion, and chili pepper. It went well with the white rice that we had ordered. The beef was tender and had a good flavor.
Service was good. The server was very friendly and checked in on us every so often.
Parking isn't a problem. The lot is fairly large.
This place is definitely on par with Din Tai Fung. The prices are just about the same as well as the quality.
Worth a try and I would love...
