Last night's gyro was bomb. I've routinely shopped here when i was driving taxi, and needed a meal on my way home. I've never really had an issue until today. I'm now a PSU student, and will be spending about $40/ WK at the food carts. I usually tip %30, but today am low on funds so could only tip %10. For deep frying 3 samosas, and boxing one piece of baklava, I felt this wasn't too terrible, as I'll likely eat here often, and can make it up the next time the same operator is serving me. I ordered beef, and received cheese. I'm severely lactose intolerant, and didn't find this mistake out until I got to my next location, got situated and started eating. The baklava has not been tasted yet, but a peer in the space noted to me that they were very let down with Alani food cart baklava. Being an avid enjoyer of this dessert, and having been blessed with authentic hand made baklava made by various mothers i know, i recognize that frozen mass produced treats simply cannot compare. At first look, the pastry layers look flat and dehydrated. I do not see much in the way of the inviting golden glossy yet delicately flakey layers which usually are drizzled with smashed pistachio atop a lacqueresque surface. The pistachio filling looks dry and crumbly. It reminds me of a faded green and brown-speckled piece of drywall. I will, of course, taste this without keeping my visual perception in mind. I am hoping it smells more enticing...

I accidentally stepped too close to the cart and was asked by the cook if I was ready to order. I told him I already ordered and he made a small gesture that seemed he was frustrated. I noted that and stayed back the rest of my waiting period. Apparently that wasn’t enough for the cook and he made 2 passive aggressive comments to the customers who not only ordered after me but were served first. The only reason that streak stopped was because no one was in line for their order and he had to serve me. The food is nothing special, I’d say the Arabs down a couple yards make much better food but I was curious to try this one out. Anyways if you want mediocre food and a side of pettiness then this...
Read moreGreat food truck in a row of food trucks with a nice shady seating area. We took ours to go, but there was plenty of seating available in the early afternoon. Delicious fresh food and a generous portion, wrapped in a way that was very thoughtful: the foil on the outside was big enough to use as a faux platter and prevented any of the saucy toppings from making a mess of the car! 😅 the falafel was great, not at all dry but nice and moist, plus flavorful in and of themselves, independent of the delicious sauce. The combination...
