I will say that the hotel is beautiful...great views. All staff were friendly, except for the bartender, Joe. The first night he was friendly and had excellent customer service. However, the 2nd night, was a whole different story. We chose a hotel with a bar, as we were on vacation & meeting family not seen in a while. We wanted a place to drink cocktails and not have to leave the premises. Our family was meeting us later in the evening and we had all decided to do dinner at the hotel. Prior to their arrival, we were having drinks and had friended some patrons at the bar. Joe walked in for his shift, and it was obvious he was not having a good day. I had commented.."smile" and he gave a disgusted look to me and waved his hand as to shun me. I decided it was best not to say anything else, as we all have bad days. We had some more drinks and bought the patrons we friended, some drinks as well. Joe walked over, when I ordered our next drinks, and handed me ice water and told me we had to order food before he would serve us. I was shocked and said our family will be here within the hour and we have every intention on eating dinner here and we arent leaving the premises, if that is a concern. He just walked away. I asked the patron if i had done something out of line and his response was "no, not at all" i then asked joe if i did something to offend him and he replied "no, but u need to order food, your bartab is high" there were 2 of us and we ordered drinks for others, and the drinks arent 2.00 a drink. At that time our family arrived, we chose to go elsewhere (our family member did the driving) closed out our tab and i left a poor tip because i felt from the moment he walked in he was rude. (Mind u, the night prior, he was tipped very well) We left, when we got outside, joe came running out towards me and told me we needed the tip more than he did and threw it back at us. He was then told he got what he deserved. And we left. I work where customer service is a top priority, and he was very rude and belittling, and if I was out of line in something I may have said (which he himself said didnt happen) he still handled the situation poorly. That was our only complaint, otherwise, the hotel was great. We had 4 other family members meet us and that wouldve been dinner for 6 and im sure they wouldve hung out a bit as well. We were willing to spend our money there and not elsewhere. Im also sure theres cameras that will show, at no point were we out of line. We were having a great time, until then. Sad that one person...
Read moreI chose to stay at BW Plus Rivershore Hotel because of it's easy access from I-205 and because it was not far from the venue for my great niece's wedding. I was able to book online and received a discount for doing so. That made the room rate very reasonable.
Upon arrival, I liked that the elevator was accessed using the room key card which provided for a certain level of security. However, the security factor disappeared when I realized that anyone could wait until someone got off the elevator and then just step in without the need of a key card.
I stayed in a King suite and paid for another King suite for other family members to stay in. I had hoped the rooms would be close together, but because of the hotel's layout, the rooms were on separate floors. I liked the ease of pre-checking in online the day before the reservation and the staff communicated via email/text very well.
The rooms were spacious and I especially liked the balcony with a river view. We ate at the restaurant onsite for dinner one night and for breakfast all three mornings. There was a complimentary appetizer coupon for use at dinner, but I have to say that the appetizer was just so-so. We were glad that it was complimentary. The $7 coupon credit for breakfast, however was a great deal and the breakfasts each day were excellent.
There are a couple of negatives that I have to report on though. The TVs were nice, new flat screens, but the picture quality was HORRIBLE in both rooms. Fuzzy on most channels and unviewable on several channels. I requested a maintenance worker to check on it, but I don't know if anyone ever came to the room I was in because the picture quality did not improve over the 3 nights that I stayed there. I don't think they used the correct kind of cable to hook the TV up. I believe than an HDMI cable needs to be used to get an HD quality picture.
The 2nd negative involves the 2nd room that I had for 2 nights. My niece needed to get into the room to prepare for a 5 pm wedding, however there was a problem with the battery for the lock system and it took 45 minutes for that to be fixed, so instead of access to the room at 3 pm, access was not available until 3:45 pm. I wasn't onsite for this drama, so I only have my niece's complaints to go by, but there wasn't any kind of compensation (discount, dining credit) offered for the inconvenience.
Overall, even with the negatives, the location, view, quality of the rooms and onsite restaurant were very satisfactory and I would stay here again if I am...
Read moreWe have stayed here many times and we always enjoyed our clean room and comfortable bed but it has been a few years since we stayed her. We now travel with our beloved dog. When I called to make the reservations, I spacifically asked for a king size bed and I told the incompetent lady taking our reservation that we had a dog so she checked to see if a room in the "pet" friendly rooms was available, which it was. Imagine our surprise when we checked into the motel and got to our room. It was a queen size bed. When I called the office to ask them why we were in a Queen room when we reserved a king bed, I was informed that they do not have any "pet" friendly rooms with king beds. We never stay in a Queen room, due to our size and our 72 lb dog. There was also no comfortable chair to sit in, other then the office chair and two standard hotel dinning chairs and my husband has a bad back so we also always get a room that has seating available. I might add that we had a reservation for the following month that was going to cost and additional $50.00 more. The lady at the front desk offered to put us into a room with two beds but at that point we had set up my husband's medical equipment and we were exhausted from our very long day which started at out on this journey so we said no thank you.Let me describe this room that was going to cost us $169.00 in June. The closet was a cubby hole that was not wide enough for the luggage rack to sit in if it was unfolded to hold luggage. It was so narrow that you could not get the luggage rack into the room and walk around it. You could not close the bath room door unless you went to the wall. We always stay at a best western unless there is not one available. Many years ago we stayed at a Motel 6 and it was the worst night we had ever experienced. It was what pushed us to stay at a better Motel's . Well this room was worse then the motel 6 one. We will never stay here again which ,eans we will have to drive at least an hour after we visit our family in the area. I'm not sure what has happened to this motel since the last time we stayed here but it is not what we remembered. I understand that pets present a problem and some motels only have certain rooms for dogs, but what I don't understand is why I was not informed that pet rooms were either 1 queen bed or 2. We would have reluctantly taken the room with two beds but we were not informed of this at the time of the reservation. We cancelled our...
