We were traveling from Washington state to Oregon for a business function. We were overdressed due to the function and didnt want to change because it was late and got to Jay's at about 12:30am. The door security was cool and gave us a brief chat on the food. He could probly tell we weren't from town with our curiosity. Food was delicious for what was available. The bartenders attempted to be helpful but seemed preoccupied with closing or didnt want to make food, even though there was a good amount of people still. So we didnt feel completly comfortable. One bartender came off a touch demanding when I tried to explain my girlfriend's go-to-drink. So I gave her a specific drink order, a "Paloma". I only did it to test her knowledge since she came off like we were taking too long ordering. She didn't know what it was. I explained the drink recipe, we sat down at a table. Same bartender came with our food, placed it on the table so quick we didnt even get to say thank you. Then came back with our drinks the same way. Felt un-welcoming to us. Had us thinking we were better off changing our clothes. But we were hungry; so we ate a lil, but our drinks were made strong. Normally thats what people want, us too. But not straight from the bottle throat-burning on every drink. In my experience, bartenders do this so you don't finish the drink and pass on it. But because it was getting late(1am,1:20am bartime) thats exactly what was happening. So because of our un-welcoming experience we boxed the food, tried to enjoy our drinks the best we could to half glass, then left. Over-all, great environment, lots of different games and seating. Great bottle selection and food choices. But was not the best traveler experience; though I wouldn't mind giving it another...
Read moreThey have a private patio which I like, I don't enjoy bars where I can't have my drink with me while I smoke. The patio is nice but not covered fully and the outdoor heaters are OFTEN out of propane and not working. The inside is very spacious but it can get kinda packed at the bar due to lack of bartenders. Google claims they have table service but it's not what I would call FULL table service. Meaning I have never had anyone approach me and take a drink or food order, I've always had to walk up to the bar and order, but they do bring your food to your table afterword. On the subject of food, they have really good food for a bar, I recommend their Dirty Fries. Drinks are average and moderately priced. They do have a very large tap list so that's nice. They have a lot to do, that's what really makes this place (besides the food). There is giant Jenga and giant Connect Four, ping-pong, 4 pool tables and multiple video lottery games, as well as TVs everywhere. The worst thing about this place is their bartenders. Some of them are okay, but that's as good as it gets, just OKAY. They're constantly kicking people out who don't seem to be causing any trouble, granted there have been a few that need to be kick out but they do it excessively. They have stale face 24/7 and show no interest in even polite conversation. They border on flat out rude, often. They look and act like they hate their jobs. My suggestion, get some new faces in, maybe one with a smile, and this bar would...
Read moreThe only bar in town that you can show up to and have a friend forget to close out, only to have his personal belongings (Credit card) brought out to him by some random gal. Did I mention she closed out for him and decided what the tip was going to be? It would'nt have been such a big deal, if it were not for the fact that the bouncer then, denied me, the designated driver, entry to use the restroom for relief at 1:38 am PST, Sat. OCT. 20, 2018.
It is not like I had not been there earlier tonight at 12:10am PST... my friend forgot to close out and we ended up having to come back. Showed up at 1:40 am... still 20 minutes before there "closing time" but I was not allowed to come in and relieve myself.
The bouncer proceeded to take pictures of myself and my intoxicated friend at the rear of his car. Which is only further proof of the events that transpired.
I wish I did not have to spend the rest of my friday night letting the rest of the world know that this establishment does not care about the "ally's bathroom law".... I am not sure why I was not asked wether that was the reason for my request, but hopefully a representaive reaches out and asks me before I have to...
