We arrived around 6 p.m. this evening, we waited @ the entrance for a # of minutes, finally I started to walk in when a customer came out & said he would go find someone for us, he came back and said she would be right up, a cpl minutes later she came and seated us. My Swiss onion soup was quite different than what I expected, tasted funny to me and my party that was with me. We waited a long time for the food, perch was cold as were the sides that came, and my daughter's pulled pork had more ham than pork in it, and was supposed to have mustard, had mayo instead. Our waitress Stephanie was doing her best to take care of our table, but she had a lot of tables to do, running from 1 end to the other. Now, would I return you may ask???? Most definitely, gotta see what the steak is like next time. The hostess said that 3 Mondays in a row it was hardly busy, and then boom, got swamped tonight, and that it's hard to figure it. That may be, or it may be in management also, making sure you have people that you can call in on a moment's notice, that can be extremely helpful, just a suggestion. Also, after it was all said & done, the hostess asked if lowering the bill would help, I said, well of course it would help, I figured maybe $10.00 @ the most, the original bill for 4 adults & 1 child came to $75.10, and she dropped it to $39.10, I thought that was a heck of a drop. So they definitely went above and beyond to make it right, and I left my waitress a tip equal to 20% of the bill, I didn't figure it was her fault, she did her best to serve us as it came out, it just took a long time, as I stated, we arrived @ approximately 6 p.m. and arrived back home @ 4 minutes to 8, and we live only between 2-4 miles from there, so we spent almost 2 hours there waiting, I forgot to mention that the salads were excellent, and the rolls were hot and good, just wish the service time could be managed better. The atmosphere & decor is nice and relaxed, could have a better choice of music, and perhaps just a shade louder so you cld actually hear it, but some good classical, or perhaps an ensemble of 40's thru 80's music might be nice, and have it piped in, so you don't get the commercials, just my observations. I do believe that Darrell's can be a very good place to eat, just needs a few good tweaks, and we must realize that it's new, and just a newly opened business, gotta give em a chance to make good. I do like this place, also it was our 1st time there, so a 1st impression to us all. I would give this establishment a thumbs up, definitely good food, (Just needs to come to the table warm), and the waitresses that I interacted with were awesome, and the hostess made it right with me on the bill, so all in all, not too bad, just needs the tweaking, and I'll be back again to try the...
Read moreI tried Darrels again because i received a gift certificate at christmas time. We finally decided to use it after we put almost a year between the my visit that did not go so well as you can read in my post below.
I would like to say this visit was much better than last year. We were a litlte apprehensive about purchasing a steak product. We purchase chicken piccata and chicken alfredo. Both dishes turned out well and tasted great. Service was a little slow taking into accout it was a Saturday night around 7pm. The waiter was appologetic for the wait for the bread and drinks. This meant alot that the long wait was acknoledged and no excuses were made.
Thank for making my return visit more enjoyable than my first.
Previous visit below.
Well my name is Dave S. Yes I am real and now I would like to say the expereince was more like a 1 after that reply. A simple "Sorry your experience was not a 5" would have been great. The same thing happened during our dining experience when I talked to a manager. Little tip the customer is alway right. Just smile and appologize. Both my wife and I ordered steak tips and asked for the well done. They came to us bloodly and a couple were even chewy. It was taken back and came back the same way. The manager said that happens because they are in all shapes and sizes. We asked them to be cooked longer the second time but the same result.
That was our first and last time eating .
Not sure how long you have been in the customer service bussiness but the customer is always right no matter what. If not you will have no customer.
Sometimes a simple apology goes a long ways. Much farther than a poor excuse.
Thank you for replying to my comment. It was exactly...
Read moreNice to have an option for seafood in the are aside from Red Lobster. The restaurant has a menu and pricing of a rather upscale restaurant, but with the trappings of a family chain feel. The interesting take on seafood clashes with the paper table coverings and crayons matched with a $15.00 1/2 lb hamburger. Overall the food is good. Our table ordered a steak with fries, the Surf & Turf and a Cheeseburger with fries. The steak was cooked as requested (well done) but according to my wife Texas Roadhouse is better with better prices. I ordered the cheeseburger. yes a 1/2 lb patty cooked medium with lettuce, tomato, onions cheese and 2 slices of bacon for about $15.00. Again tasted good, not too greasy like I have seen at many places (it didn't saturated the bun with grease) but again IMO a little overpriced. My son had the surf and turf, which consisted of 2 steak filet and a lobster tail. He said the steak was good, but the lobster was rubbery and cold. I am assuming it was frozen (which cause the flesh to become rubbery) and was prepared faster than the other parts of our meals, so it got cold. We also ordered the stuffed mushrooms. for about $7.00 you get a plate of 7 mushrooms stiffed with a crab & lobster covered in a lobster sauce. IMO the BEST part of the whole meal, with an excellent price point. Over all I would recommend if your specifically looking for a seafood place beside a red lobster.
In response to response. I was not offered a side salad or soup with my Hamburger. I did have my wife's soup that came with her steak. My burger came with fries. Total Bill for the cheeseburger w/ fries, a coke, and the stuffed mushrooms was and tip was...
