My family and I decided to drop by this place today. 1because they sell bbq, 2 I was craving a home style meal, and 3 because they have a 4* rating. I was very shocked at the layout when I got inside. We were greeted when we came in and even received the opinion from someone else dining in. He stated the food was delicious so I was pretty excited. I ordered 3 kids meals, and 2 adult meals. Kids received 2 rib plates with mac n cheese as the side, and a bbq chicken plate with french fries as the side. I received a pull pork sandwich with mac n cheese and bbq baked beans on the side. My boyfriend got ribs with the same sides. After receiving our food, we were instructed to make our own sides from the side bar. (I really wish I would've taken pictures). The top layer of the side dishes were dry and clearly looked dryer and dehydrated. The mac n cheese was ok but tasted like it had an odd ingredient I couldn't make out. The only side dish that had good flavor was the bbq baked beans. Now to the drinks, the ice machine kept making this weird noise that was very loud but unavoidable. And the sweet tea was very unsweet, basically not sweet enough. For the sauces, we were told it would be in the dining area which I assumed would be in bottles on the table. Instead the sauces were in big buckets that were self-serve and uncovered. The sauce flavors were sweet, mild, and spicy. I was disappointed they didn't carry the mustard bbq but that's ok. Now to the table. My kids enjoyed their food but my daughters bbq chicken didnt have the bbq on it of course and it was extremely dry. My pulled pork was very dry and the texas toast tasted like it was soaked in salt, idk. My boyfriends rib was very very oily, when he picked up the ribs you can see the oil just settled at the bottom. I would give this place a 3 out of 10. And I would never return, nor recommend people to this place. The food was very mediocre and I have of course had way better. For a certain type of people this place would be fitting. But for a woman of color, a southern girl at that, this was...
Read moreThank you for THE best Texas style barbecue in Central Florida. Today was our first visit and what a surprise. I ordered the Texan sandwich with choice of two meats and cheese on Texas Toast. I ordered mine with what I consider to be the national meats of Texas - brisket and sausage. Both meats had a nice smoky flavor, not overwhelming but just right. The test for a good Texas meat is when it dies not need to be smothered in sauce and these meats are great on their own. It also wouldn’t be proper Texas barbecue without sliced onions and pickles which are self serve. Side items are self serve and I chose potato salad which was a bit to mayo-y for me but still tasty and chunky. I also chose potato’s sugar tin with onion and cheddar cheese which was really good. My mate ordered the lunch plate and he chose smoked sliced turkey which was nice and flavorful. The sides he chose were jalapeño mashed potatoes which tasted as you would imagine with the taste of jalapeño but again not overly so. His second side was barbecue beans which had a nice flavor and had bits of brisket mixed in. You start your dining experience when you walk in the door with a large menu on the wall. You order your food and they prepare the meats. Once you have your main course you proceed down the line and serve your own sides and desserts as you make your way to the cashier. This wonderful little casual rustic Texas barbecue smokehouse features self seating and offers free self serve soft serve ice cream cones with each meal purchased. The decor is typical of many Texas restaurants and you dine with country music playing and there are large screen TV’s with sports on to watch if you like. The only competition I can see fir this place in its authentic Texas style is probably 4 Rivers but I wouldn’t compare the two. We will be back here again and again and will bring friends and family. It’s probably an hour away from my home but well...
Read moreso apparently they were closing or milking the hurricane thing 5 days after the fact. they decided to send me whatever leftovers were laying around at 630pm. I get wanting to go home but if you want to send me unseasoned cold French fries and cold limp "toasted" white bread rather than fried okra and Texas toast then maybe you should say you close at 6pm or I don't know call me and see if I want $30 worth of leftovers? and I get the hurricane thing too...I went to waffle House Friday morning and they told me up front what they had and what they didn't and let me decide if I still wanted to order and I did...but I think this was pure laziness..just a gut feeling....bbq was cold to but warm enough to say it was more recent than the mash potatoes "fries" and "toast"...I'll definitely figure out how to submit a proper public review though...
Update 10-9-22 No need to discuss anything, that was my last meal "out" before leaving Florida for Michigan as I am a traveling medical professional. I'd been wanting to try this resteraunt the three months I stayed in Orlando. I'm also a native Floridan and I know that hurricanes bring out the worst in alot of people from alarmist media outlets to gouging gas stations and hotels..if stating what I see, which was TWO possibilities and I leaned away from taking advantage of a bad situation as what I thought was likely, then I don't want to be appropriate...people should know what happens and make up there own minds from a brutally honest perspective from someone there wether it's bad service or taking advantage of the vulnerable...particularly since most of the people that will see this are out of...
