I had high hopes going into Pie Fection — we chose them as our “we’ve just flown in and are hungry for dinner” pizza place. But honestly it was a little odd of an experience for us and the food was hit/miss.
The buffalo wings weren’t really buffalo wings — they struck me as more of wings in some sort of Raman-black pepper sauce than anything. They were good and cooked properly, but they weren’t buffalo wings.
My kid’s spaghetti was under-portioned and struck me as the amount of food that I would have given him as a toddler. He was still so hungry after the first tiny plate of spaghetti, that we had to order a second for him. Also, they really need to swap out the tiny dishes for a bowl — when you’re serving spaghetti to a child, they’re going to get it all over themselves if it’s not in a bowl. As expected, his shirt was a mess by the end of dinner.
My other kid’s meal — kid’s cheese pizza — was good and properly portioned. She liked it and we all actually took turns nibbling on it.
My wife and I got the Portuguese style pizza, and while she said she liked it, I thought it was odd. I was up for trying something different, but the egg really threw me off. Additionally, it seemed imbalanced in terms of the ingredients. The onions and egg were overpowering and I felt the sauce was non-existent. The crust, however, was fine and I enjoyed that much.
But what really struck me as odd is that unlike nearly every restaurant in America, none of our food arrived at the same time... none of it. First my son got his spaghetti — five-plus minutes later my daughter got her pizza, then like ten minutes later got the wings, and an astronomical amount of time later we finally got our pizza. It was a little odd.
Despite all that though, the people preparing the food were entertaining to watch, they clearly cared about what they were doing, they seemed like they were close like family, and even occasionally heard them breaking out into song. It was nice.
But honestly, the service was a little disjointed and the food could be better. I really don’t enjoy giving low ratings, especially to smaller restaurants like this. But I think there’s an opportunity to hunker down, figure out what’s not going right, and to make...
Read moreI went there to try the place out. So I ordered a small pizza to go. After I paid, I was given one of those buzzers to notify a customer when their order is ready. After waiting 20 mins the buzzer goes off and I proceed to the counter to pick up my order. The guy behind the counter tells me my order was actually not ready yet and that I have a buzzer that rings with another buzzer simultaneously which is a known issue but it should ring again when my order is ready. So he tells me my order should be out soon. So I go back and sit down and wait. After another 15 mins, my buzzer still has not gone off since. So I decide to go back up to the counter and ask if my order is ready, turns out the same guy says that it's been ready and has been in the warmer for a while and then hands me my pizza. Then claims that the buzzers are defective and that no one came to claim the order with a rude attitude. I told him I had just spoke to him before and that he told me my order was not ready yet and to wait. He acts as if saying it's the buzzers fault is enough, as if it's not the restaurant's fault that they don't have a way to notify people of their orders. So essentially me sitting down waiting (indefinitely) without any notification of when my "to go" order is ready is considered good service in this clown's mind. Here's an idea, purchase buzzers that actually aren't defective. Take a class on customer service. Nobody should ever have to wait almost 40 minutes for a small pizza to go. After looking at this dude a minute after his idiotic response clearly not convinced with the poor excuse, the lady behind the counter at least said a brief sorry and offered a fountain drink. Gee thanks for the concern for returning customers. Will not be recommending this place to anyone anytime soon. It's a shame because I really wanted to give it a chance but sadly nowadays people don't understand that good food plus good service is what makes customers come back and even generate positive word of mouth. If that were my business, I would never have that guy interact with customers again. He would be on permanent...
Read moreThe service was fine and pizza was made in a reasonable amount of time considering each pizza is handmade. I looked around and noticed many fresh ingredients. I was excited to try it.
If you look at some of the negative reviews there is a theme. More than 1 customer has said it. The ratio of cheese to sauce needs improvement. I love cheese, and I know that this is a Brazilian pizzeria. Brazilians love cheese. However, the amount of cheese is too much. There is very little to no sauce. There appear to be two layers of cheese, and the top layer does not completely melt during the cook. The cheese takes away from the hidden flavors someone could enjoy. My suggestion is that sometimes less is more. To cater to other customers, I recommend giving customers the option between "Traditional" (Brazilian type pizza with all the cheese) or "Saucy Contemporary" (Less cheese and more sauce). This way you can give your customers options and reduce the complaints about the cheese.
The garlic knots were a good balance and tasted good. The prices are a little high which is to be expected in a custom pizzeria. I was fine with the pizza prices. I feel like the prices for the calzones ($25+) and wings ($17+) is too much since we can get good tasting calzones for half the price.
Overall, I would say the pizzeria is on the right track with their fresh ingredients. But the pizzeria needs to expand their options for customers that like less cheese. Also, I would reconsider the prices on your other items. I am not convinced the pizzeria is willing to listen or change based off their responses to customers in the reviews. My likelihood of a return visit is extremely low based off my...
