Got an opportunity to try this place out last week and honestly, maybe my expectations of a historied establishment opening up shop got the best of me, as I was expecting top-notch Chicago-style foods.
I'm not saying the subs weren't good. But in a market filled with great varieties of subs from Publix to national chains, Bahn mi, and so on, I didn't find anything that really stood out amongst the crowd. Actually, the pizza sub was really good, so that was certainly my win for the visit.
Ignoring everything I know about the brand, and just focusing on my experience, I would say the overall experience was good but nothing worth coming back for.
The customer service was lackluster. One of the staff was very nice. The other staff were lackluster, especially for a newly opened establishment. Service was mid at best.
The pizza sub was my highlight. If I am in the area and decide to stop in again, that would be my get. Besides that, the other subs were pretty much a glorified subway in my opinion. There are better options to get good subs.
As for the atmosphere, it was pretty quiet. I loved the decor inside the shop. It leaned on the historical roots it was created on and was a fun concept.
Now, the one thing I was bummed about was the side options. National branded chips or soup. I really feel this made the place an okay spot to grab a sandwich but nothing more. (Having never been to a potbelly, I didn't know what to expect, but that wasn't quite it.)
Overall, if someone ever asked if I would recommend this place, I'd say it's worth a try. But this would be far down my list of places I'd recommend.
Nevertheless, I'll be back for...
Read moreI work near this shop so my co-workers and I shop here a few times. We all redeemed a free sandwich which expires tomorrow so we all decided to place the order and I agreed to pick it up. After grabbing the mobile orders and walking out, one of the customers that were walking out told me they were looking for me. While I was inside the building, nobody asked me to verify the orders which I would've gladly done. Moments later two employees were shouting at me saying that I can't do this. They followed me to my car in the pouring rain, snatched the sandwiches back and told me that I was banned and to never come back again. The fact that they were arguing with me in the rain in the middle of the street over mediocre sandwiches is INSANE! I told them I didn't do anything wrong, I worked nearby and my co-workers and I all placed mobile orders. He (Chuck) asked me to come inside to show him on my phone so I did. After that he apologized and let me leave with the sandwiches. That experience gave me so much anxiety that my hands were shaking. I have never been embarrassed like this at an establishment before. I feel like I was discriminated against because I am black and it's a disgusting feeling. I had my work clothes AND BADGE on so why on Earth would I be stealing??? Not to mention the turkey breast was soggy and the sandwich wasn't good at all, I couldn't even finish it. I will never be returning here ever again. The sandwiches are gross and the service is uncalled for. I understand walking out with a few orders can look a little suspicious but the way they reacted to the situation was...
Read moreThis is a place is soooo disappointing!!!! I nor my co workers WILL NEVER EVER step one foot into this establishment ever again!!! so today my co worker's and I placed our orders, our manger in full uniform black hoodie and name tag came in to pick up our lunches when he was followed to his car and accused of stealing and told he would be band from the store . I can understand someone picking up multiple orders can look a little off but it could have been handles much differently you do not treat people like thieves and accuse them of stealing when you have made no effort to gather the facts ask for verification of orders not only was this uncalled for but very disrespectful!!!!! SUPER DISAPPOINTING!!!!! THE FOOD WAS NOT THAT GREAT AND MY SANDWICH WAS SOGGY!!! NOT WORTH THE WAY IT WENT DOWN !!!!!!! WHO EVER WALKED OUT THE STORE AND PROCEDED TO TAKE THE BAGS OUT OF HIS HANDS SHOULD BE RETRAINED IN PROPER GUEST...
