We were visiting Orlando on a trip, and was searching around for a local breakfast place and came across Shakers. It looks very homey when going in as there are, as their name suggests, salt and pepper shakers EVERYWHERE in the restaurant. There are shelves with unique ones, and each table has a unique set as well.
The place is somewhat small, but has a nice quaint feel which leads to fast and efficient service. While we arrived during the busiest hour of 12 PM, we were seated within 10 minutes which is impressive as most places have you waiting over 45 min - 1 hour.
In terms of food, it was very good especially for the price. They have a lot of unique special options for breakfast and lunch which are worth looking into. For myself, I had the 3 egg omelette meat lovers - which had a lot of meat cooked to perfection. Bacon and sausage was crispy, and roast beef has a ton of flavour and was not dry which is a problem for a lot of places.
My fiancé had the salmon and eggs benedict - which was perfectly. I wouldve wanted thinner slices of salmon as it could be a bit overpowering but thats personnal preference. It could also be on the saltier side so Id recommend to have it without capers if your sensitive to it albeit they add a unique flavour.
Our son had 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, and 2 slices of french toast. The french toast is pretty popular as its made on a brioche bread which is ideal, crispy on the outside and buttery on the inside. They were a bit eggy, but still tasted yummy! Id highly recommend to...
Read moreCame here one day for breakfast, because this place has won a lot of awards, I've heard about it for a while, and it was just time to check it out. So we arrive, get seated, and start ogling at the reasons behind the name of the restaurant. Salt and peppers, Everywhere. It's honestly very pleasantly overwhelming.
Shelves upon shelves upon shelves on every wall, every pillar, the windowsills, even the front counter. It was very cool. I was a big fan. It certainly made for endless amounts of looking around during the entire meal.
Service was really good. There was only one server when we got there upon opening, but she was really efficient. Really friendly. No issues with service.
As for the food, it was so good. I can't remember which omelets we got, as they were specials written on the chalkboard, but overall, their omelets were great. A good amount of egg, a good amount of filling, and something nice that not a lot of places do, an accent of what's inside decorated over the top of the whole thing. Very classy. Very delicious.
Sides were great, too. Great amount of char on the potatoes, cooked all the way through, seasoned just right. And the hash browns were mega crispy on top, like a super version of Waffle House. Very good. I also got a side of an everything bagel, which was very toasty and very well buttered.
Overall, this was a very good breakfast spot. A lot of spots are kind of lackluster nowadays, but this place had a lot of luster! I will...
Read moreFirst time today trying Shakers with the Fam. It's a nice little joint with parking on the side and rear. With it's high reviews and rewards we went in with high expectations. As busy as it remained the whole time we were there it is a very popular joint. Now for the food. Let me say we ordered their fresh cinnamon buns for the table and OMG these were amazing! I could of made that my whole meal it's that good. For the rest of the dishes they do a mix of more traditional breakfast but also elevated too with ingredients like goat cheese and avocado omelets. The sweet tea and coffee are very good. The eggs were fluffy and cooked well. Bacon was perfectly done. My cornbeef hash had a nice grilled flavor, along with the hashbrowns and grilled onions. I will say I wish the hashbrown portion was bigger. The only downside I really found was the biscuits and sausage gravy. Biscuits even after being grilled and adding some butter...were dry. But the gravy, which is ok, it's not a bad gravy as it does have real sausage pieces in it but it taste like it was cut with mushroom gravy. That's a popular cooking choice in many restaurants so I'm not holding it against them and is prob why the gravy is more tinted but I just prefer a more natural white gravy with more sausage. We all agreed in the end we would easily come again and overall that is why I'm still giving them 5 Stars. I do recommend giving this place a shot and especially for that...
