I ordered two shredded beef tacos, six bucks each, and I ordered a non-alcoholic beverage in a 6 ounce cup for six bucks. So two tiny tacos and a preschool size cup of drink $20. first of all, it took 15 minutes to get my food. And there’s really nothing to cook, but it doesn’t really matter, what matters here is that this is not Mexican food. And I hope that taco cat doesn’t take it personally because there is no Mexican food in Orlando. El Potro is barely Mexican food And is halfway decent for the price. But there are so many of these so-called Mexican restaurants in Orlando that have nothing to do with Mexican food. They serve the new trend in the last 10 years , these little bitty things called “street tacos”. I don’t know why they call it a street taco, Maybe because a truck ran it over and smashed it into a little small piecemeal size food big enough for an ant. The last thing orlando needs is another one of these non-Mexican taco places. Now they might say “ you haven’t tried our burrito“. And I say no thanks if you can’t make a Mexican taco then I’m not gonna try anything else. I want Mexican food, I want a big taco whether it’s soft shell homemade hard shell whatever, with all the good stuff, pico de gallo, a salsa bar With different sauces, I want lettuce tomato and cheese in a good amount on my taco, And if you’re in Los Angeles the going rate for a taco like that is $4.50. but here at taco cat, you get a small little itsy-bitsy taco with a little bit of meat on it, the meat actually tastes pretty good but you only get a taste of it so it’s just a tease, unless you can afford 10 of these tacos and then you’re gonna dump $60 , and keep in mind it’s not even Mexican food. So please can somebody please open up a Mexican restaurant in Orlando? I’m tired of this over priced microscopic store-bought soft shell mini so called taco that has nothing to do with tacos. I give taco Kat Two stars for the fact that they stay open late, but then again, by the time I go out and get a beer I won’t have $1200 left over for 200...
Read moreBummer. The food was truly great. Speak Easy is a bust.
We came back to go to the Speak Easy and I was stopped at the door because I had open toed shoes. They said the woman in my group can enter with their open toed shoes but my assumed male self could not enter due to open toe shoes. There was no discussion of my gender prior and was solely assumed.
I asked if these “rules” are based on my assumed gender and the THREE security guards, all in their 20s and one of whom was ready to escalate the situation, tried to defend the policy by only furthering the point that they are discriminatory. They were in well over their head and unable to acknowledge that these rules are gender specific, which was only assumed by them and never told to them. Later in the evening a floor manager acknowledged that she overheard the conversation and apologized and agreed that dress code should be enforced across the board despite gender and that they were wrong in that moment. That said, I am calling on management to publicly make their policy know and let it be an non gender specific policy and offer better training to their security teams which could land the business in legal trouble for their blatant ignorance and very public discriminatory actions.
I should tell you ITS A TUESDAY. I worked at some of the most exclusive clubs in Manhattan for years. A dress code is a dress code and should be enforced despite someone’s gender. To enforce policies based on gender on 2023 is telling of the owner and managements minds and hearts and I vow to make this place known as the NON- LGBTQ+ friendly place that it is until policies are changed.
Hopefully this will provoke a conversation for change in...
Read moreFor the price I was expecting more overall. But almost $12 for a burrito that is the same size of a $2 Taco Bell burrito and then completely squashed inside tin foil, with bad grill burns and feeling like it was microwaved because the tortilla felt gummy is not worth the $12.
Next, $6 each taco and smaller than Taco Bell soft tacos that cost $1.50 is absurd considering that the tacos were average and completely crushed under tin foil. In Mexico tacos like the ones I got from Taco Kat do not cost more than $2USD at one of the best restaurants.
Then a $6 Horchata drink that by its size does not, and can not, cost more than $2.50. On top of that way too much cinnamon that overpowered, and affected, the taste of the drink from the way it should taste. Whoever made it does not know the taste of real Horchata.
I am comparing it to Taco Bell because at the very least Taco Bell takes care of proper packaging and in terms of size these items resembled Taco Bell sizes. Regarding taste, unfortunately, Taco Kat falls below average.
Unfortunately, very disappointing. If Taco Kat plans to thrive it needs to do some serious...
