I’m sad to write this. My husband and I joined and were very active here, my husband even joined as a knight, then everything changed March 8, 2023. I had a massive heart attack and nearly died. We called the parish and asked that a priest come for last rites. The woman who answered seemed very irritated that we called and we told her where I was and that I had a heart attack and was near death (I had a widow maker for over 21 hours). Nobody’s called- nobody showed up. The next day my husband called again- the woman was irritated again and said all the priests were busy- again nobody’s called back- nobody showed up. This went on for the 4 days I was in the hospital with no response at all. I left the hospital with heart failure and the very real possibility of sudden cardiac arrest and my husband tried everything from calling to emailing with zero response even to this day June 20. I showed up at another parish for the first confession I could find and bawled my eyes out, not just for my sins but because nobody from this parish cared enough to even respond to mine and my husbands begging for at least confession before I died, if not anointing of the sick- the other priest where I did confession asked who the priest(s) were or what parish it was. I wasn’t looking to tattle or whatever I just wanted confession but thinking about it now, I think that people need to know not to bother calling here if they are dying as you may very well be completely ignored and instead call Holy Family, St Myra, St Joseph, St Andrew or a parish that may...

My husband and I received our Confirmation this past Sunday at Saint James Cathedral, and it was an experience we’ll never forget. We arrived a little early, and as we were walking in, about four priests were coming in at the same time. To our surprise, they immediately started talking with us—warm, casual, and genuinely kind. Every one of them shook my husband’s hand and made us feel like we truly belonged.
I actually asked my husband if he knew them from somewhere because they were just that friendly. He said, “No—but they’re amazing!” They spoke both English and Spanish, were approachable, and made everyone feel seen and welcomed.
We were confirmed by the Bishop, which was such a blessing. And although many Catholic churches were represented that day, we want to give a special shoutout to Father Peter from Holy Family Catholic Church, who is our parish priest. He is exceptional—his presence always brings peace and joy.
Saint James Cathedral is not only beautiful but filled with warmth and community. We felt truly embraced, and we’re so grateful to have shared such a meaningful...
Read moreMe and my husband wanted to get married here because it’s a beautiful church and we are both followers of Jesus Christ. But there is a process you have to go through to even be able to get married in this church. Obviously we will not be getting married here which is not the problem. The problem is all of the rules you have to go through to even be able to get married here. And Jesus himself didn’t have rules and God doesn’t even have rules for you to get married. This is why I switched from a catholic to being Christian because Jesus disliked rules and religion and that is what this church is all about . This review it to remind everyone that when God picks your husband or your wife for you he has already blessed and has favor over your marriage. You don’t need to go through a process to get married and there are no rules . This is exactly what Jesus talks about in the Bible and when he walked this earth. This church seems more like a cult than for God . Be careful what church you attend that’s also something that God talks about a lot in the Bible and many warnings now in these times regarding...
