This is a cute, quaint place! Keep in mind the place was built in the 40’s & has been updated. |The room (301) was huge! We could hear the people above us walking around & closing doors but not voices. ||Living room: so much space & natural lighting from all the windows. The pull out couch was a bit uncomfortable but kinda par for the course of pull outs. The linens were clean & crisp. Loved that there was a broom to be able to sweep up the tile floors after going in & out. I do wish there was a rug. It took a bit of time to set up Chrome cast to watch TV but the nice set it was great to put on some YouTube music. ||Bathroom: nice amount of space. The shower just had a glass wall so water did get out during showers. The shampoo & stuff in the shower I could not get to pump, not a huge deal since I brought my own but if I needed it it would have been an annoyance. ||Bedroom: a lot of room to get ready. The bed was more firm than I personally like but not an uncomfortable nights sleep. Loved the pillows! There is a noise machine & earplugs because it is a bit noisy if you are a light sleeper with the 408 & bar close. I did have a hard time with the fan & lights. I like to sleep with the fan on but could not figure out how to get the fan to work without the lights being on. Not the end of the world & I slept fine.||Kitchenette: small counter space but had the typical microwave, coffee maker & mini fridge. There were dishes under the very large sink which is so nice. There was also cleaner in the event you needed it. ||The Wellborn bar was sooo close & such a nice ambiance. We went for drinks & tapas & loved it. ||The parking is limited but I had no issues getting a street spot right in front of our room. The street dead ends right next door so no worry with parking on the street. Was given 2 parking passes & they are needed to not get towed. There was a lot behind the hotel that had plenty of parking with the pass. ||Walkable (in comfy shoes!) to many downtown restaurants & venues. ||Can’t wait to go back!! ||sorry about the pics, I was only taking them to show a friend but decided...
Read moreOur trip in early November, as we are locals, was to the lounge that opened approximately 3 months ago, as part of the Courtyard. The locale is wonderful - you would never know that you are nestled next to the major on ramp/interchange for the 408-downtown. The Wellborn next door and the Dr. Phillips create a lovely backdrop as well. The inside decor (of the lounge) is quirky and nicely executed old Florida - chic, with a nice combination of comfort and sense of humor. Early on during this happy hour, it is also a nice semi-quiet place to relax after work and socialize. The bar was conspicuously over-staffed for the small amount of business, and considering there is a a small listing of craft cocktails offered. The craft cocktails themselves were highly citrusy and under poured (the bar servers were fused to their metal shot glasses, which were never filled with more than a half ounce-shot for any of the 4 cocktails I saw prepared). The servers appeared to be hired for a 'I'm a really fun, cool, trendy person, and you're not' vibe, coupled with a peculiarly slow response to clients required to self serve at a cramped bar. The resulting rapport is not quite welcoming and gradually tiresome. Since this was happy hour, we were only charged $10 for the the 1/2 ounce cocktails (not sure what full price might entail). In summary, a beautiful location and pleasant surroundings to socialize. The lounge seems to want to create an up-scale trendy spot, but might be spending too much on man-power, and finds itself gripping tightly on overhead which affect the overall business. Nice for a...
Read moreThis was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast, and when I read it was near downtown Orlando I was unsure how the experience would be given that it is a major city. I was unbelievably surprised to find that this was literally a romantic oasis from a scene in Pleasantville. Beyond beautiful decor, spacious room, the right touch of hospitality and far exceeded my expectations in every fashion. The inn attendant was very friendly and they had an open bar upon arrival for a complimentary drink and we were given a carafe of wine to take back to the room. The room itself had extreme attention to detail and period style decor. Everything was clean, fresh and quiet. The bathroom was one to marvel at as I am 6'6" and my wife and I fit perfectly into the jacuzzi tub, together of course. The rooms were spaced just right so it was very quiet and comfortable. There was fresh coffee outside our door in the morning and the complimentary breakfast was a step above your average hotel serving hot and cold food as well as a delightful porch to eat out on. The grounds are splendid and well kept, and our only regret was that we didn't find this place sooner or we might have had our wedding there. I highly recommend everyone stay there, even Orlando locals if you are just looking for a quiet getaway for the evening. Thank you very much and we...
