By far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at and because Marriott decided to not issue a refund, here are the reasons why in addition to pictures (should have taken more but was taking care of my sick child). Flew in from VA on Friday, 3/1/24. To note, I’ve stayed at a La Quinta Inn that was better than this establishment. The room and bathroom were both nasty, the floors were dirty and the sheets had stains on them. The water pressure is non existent and the shower head had maybe one of two decent streams that would allow you go get shampoo out of your hair. (Don’t we all enjoy taking long hot showers at hotels with amazing water pressure that we don’t have at home?). The bathroom doesn’t have towel racks and the only lighting is behind the mirror? Not being able to shave because the lighting was so bad has never been a problem I’ve had in my life. The A/C was crap and when I entered the room for The first time the humidity hit me. You have to sign into Netflix with your own account….why would I do that at a hotel so then I would have to remember to sign out? Plus when my wife is at home watching Netflix, I can’t sign in from another location. I am a clean freak so what may be dirty to me may not be dirty to others however this was just ridiculous. Tried to order food, no menu in the room so tried to scan the QR code to view the menus that way but that didn’t work as it redirects me to a sight to buy the QR code. My son got in pool Saturday AM and got out because he started to feel bad. Stayed in bed the rest of the afternoon until the monster truck show at Camping World stadium. Said he felt better to go so we did, after about 30 mins he got sick twice and we ended up leaving before the show even started. Came back to the room and he slept for 12 hours straight. This could have very well been a coincidence and I thought I could have ruled out the pool part by seeing that the water was tested. Asked for the manually conducted pool water test that’s supposed to be completed daily per “64E-9” of the Florida department of health and they were unable to provide it. Saturday evening around 9pm the chaos started. Multiple people started running up and down the halls screaming and slamming doors. One of them said something to the effect “wonder if he’s going to shoot” as they continued to scream and create disturbances for all guests on that floor. I called down to desk and asked that it be taken care of and it wasn’t. We were blessed for those same people to be placed next door to us so we got to hear them screaming, laughing hysterically, slamming things and cursing through the wall until 3am when it finally stopped. I literally didn’t sleep Saturday night because I was afraid of what the people next door to me were going to do- I typically try to avoid situations where shootings are involved especially when I have my child involved. The “convenience store” is not what is suggested in the pictures, it’s a wall in the corner with condoms and chips and a $1 energy drink at Walmart they sell for $6. Ice machines on our floor was broken, went up to next floor, also broken and then to the next, also broken. No water fountains or places to fill up a water bottle besides the nasty bathroom sink. I researched the heck out of hotels down there and thought Marriott was one of the better options and because of the reviews, I went with it. DO NOT go by the other 5 star reviews. The area that it’s in is horrible. Thought we could walk to the stadium but after seeing the surroundings decided it was well worth an Uber to and from. $575 for two nights in that dump was the biggest waste of money and to top it off, it was my sons first “hotel” experience, I made sure to tell him it was a motel after our stay.

Read moreUnfortunately, our stay was less than the desired 5 stars. We called in the morning to inquire about early check in and told to call back. When we called back at approximately 12:20PM, we told the front desk staff we were 20 mins away and informed our room was ready. We arrived at 12:50PM only to be told our room was NOT ready and no one was sure when it would be available. A lady behind the counter rudely told us how check in wasn't until 3:00PM. I told her I am aware of the check in time, but when I called to inquire about the room, I was told it was ready. This caused us to drive straight to the hotel instead of stopping for lunch. At this time, valet had taken our car and we had luggage. The staff member stored our luggage and took my number in case room was ready while we were walking around downtown. No call was made and we went back an hour and 10 minutes later. A line was forming and no one behind the desk was telling anyone why it was taking so long although we assumed it was due to a technology issue. FINALLY, we were waved to the desk and able to check in. Our room was ready but no one called to tell us to come back sooner, as promised.
Once in the room, we discovered the hairdryer was missing. Housekeeping was in the hallway and I asked for one, but they kept telling me how this hairdryer worked and I told them the one in our room was missing. When in the room, the shower was level with the floor and EVERYTHING on the floor got soaked. Not enough towels were given for 2 people for one night--taking 2 showers each. The soaked floor was an issue with being slippery, using towels we didn't really have enough of in the first place, and soaked whatever was sitting on the floor. NO clue why there wasn't something to keep the water in the shower--definitely wasn't the shower curtain that didn't go all the way to the floor.
In addition, the bathroom had wasted space which was why I was surprised the countertop was TINY and didn't allow for stuff to be placed on top and also use the area. The second shower head kept falling and happened during the middle of the night. An extra blanket is usually in the closet but not the case. Needless to say, this stay was less than desirable.
I replied to an email from Andrew Mockler, Director of Operations, where I was asked to let Marriott know if the visit was less than the desired 10/10 score. Unfortunately, other than a response stating they will let the front desk office staff know of our experience, nothing else was done to help rectify...
