Iāve been to this range 3 times. 1st visit: I went with a friend and did the swap all you want deal. I used several different Glocks because at the time, I was looking to purchase one. Their Glocks appear to not be well maintained because every other round it jammed. Not sure why but that didnāt happen when I went to several other ranges shooting the same gun the exact same way. I purchased their ammo too because it was a rental. Overall, a frustrating experience. 2nd visit: I came here after purchasing my own Glock. I brought my own ammo and targets. The staff there has to check your ammo to make sure their not reshelled or anything like that. I had two boxes of Winchester and the guy was saying how horrible these rounds are and that he doesnāt allow those rounds to be fired through āhisā gun. And by āhis,ā he meant the shopās. But the way in which he said it made him sound like a douchebag. Understood, although Iāve had a frustrating amount of jams with their guns and their ammo, but never with my gun and my ammo (and Iāve gone through plenty of Winchester boxes). Lucky for him, I wasnāt planning to rent any of their guns. 3rd visit: I came again with my own gun and ammo. Yes, Winchester. Everything was good and was there for about 2 hours with my friend practicing shooting. I do have to say that their range is nice and has air conditioning. Itās also pretty long if you want to shoot quite far. However, the thing that struck me on my way out was that they do not have military discounts. They have free range time for disabled vets, which they deserve that and much more. They also have discounts for seniors citizens and first responders. But not for the men and women that are currently serving. I have never been to a range that doesnāt offer discounts for members of our military.
For those reasons, I highly doubt that Iāll come back to this range, although they do have a nice facility. Shoot Straight will continue to be my range of choice. The staff there is way friendlier and they only charge $5 for military and LEOs. Theyāre...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was my first time visiting the Orlando Gun Club. I am a retired NYPD officer and a former US Marine. The facility was very clean and well air conditioned. Checking in is very easy as they have electronic terminals when you first walk in. I came to only use the rifle range so I cannot comment on the pistol range. I had to wait a little while for a lane but that was to be expected as they are the only indoor rifle range at 50 yards in the area and only have 4 lanes. While I waited all the staff were polite and courteous (not just with me but with everyone I heard them interact with). When I got a lane. The motor that moved the target down range was a little slow. I didn't mind but one of the staff came to me and offered to move me to another lane where the motor was faster (this was just pure good customer service as I didn't say a word). I did move to another lane and the motor whip the targets back and forth. Each lane has its own light you can turn on and off. I would suggest bringing a laser range finder as they do have lines at the 10, 20, 25 and 50 yard marks but for me it was not exact and I was zeroing in iron sights and a scope. It did start getting a little warm, not hot, in the range but the outside temperature was in the 90's so it is to be expected. They have a very good ventilation system and it was difficult to even smell gun powder. Excellent air quality. After I was done shooting checking out was a breeze. All in all I give them 5 stars. It is a relaxed atmosphere but at no time does it feel as if they are lacking in safety. I will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent in with 4 of my family members. The showroom has computers set up to sign in upon entering. When completing their sign in process, the computer tells you to wait until your name is called over the loud speaker.
Close to 40 minutes goes by, as we hear multiple names called out over the PA, so my father took it upon himself to approach the front desk; the employee he spoke to said that due to it being fathers day they were not following normal procedures due to extra foot traffic in the store.
With that being said our name was never going to be called. We should have simply known to to follow the instructions on the computer. To make matters worse, 1 person and 4 other people can not shoot together. In fact the 5th person is not allowed to shoot at all due to their insurance coverage. If you are going to shoot with others, make sure you walk in separate and pretend you don't know your party.
So for a tiny group of 5, they could NOT accommodate us. There was no solution or attempts to rectify the situation. We patiently waited 40 minutes and would not be allowed to shoot that day. When frustrations grew, the employee just calls a police performing off duty security over to you that way it appears you are making a scene and are not allowed ask for proper customer service.
So in the end, we just wanted to shoot at this gun range and they can't handle LARGE GROUPS OF 5.
Also, while waiting I noticed no one was monitoring either of the two ranges. People opened both range doors at once, nothing like hearing shots pop off on the show room floor...
