Cooke’s has been an old standby for my husband and his family for years (20+). We usually eat here once during our annual cape pilgrimage. We had a late lunch here around 2:30 on the Saturday before July 4th and were pleasantly surprised by the lack of a hung crowd….as it can get seriously busy. For everyone: —there is indoor and some outdoor seating —there are bathrooms with flushing toilets that generally are clean but smell gross (they always smell like old standing mildew water and it’s kinda/really gross smelling) —they have all the condiments you need regardless of eat in or take out For parents: —there are booster seats and high chairs —there is a changing table on the women’s restroom —you have enough “kid food” options here to be able to have what you want and satisfy the littles too (although my daughter this year griped about the charbroil on the burger)

Food: —clams were great (we get the clam roll instead of the platter as it’s less expensive with almost as many clams) —fish sandwich—was hot and delicious —fish tacos were tasty and portion was generous —burger was tasty to us but not the kids who didn’t like the external char (but it was not dry or burned,...

We had the pleasure of eating at Cooke’s today. I believe the owner was at the register taking our order. He was so generous and gracious. We ordered a pitcher of beer with 4 glasses and he instructed his server to fill the pitcher and give us 3 cold glasses and fill the fourth glass with beer, because he wanted to make sure we all had more than one glass. The customer ahead of us was $2 (cash) short, so he went to get a few bucks from his friends.. the owner said “don’t worry about it…” with a smile. He made our whole experience so amazing. His kind nature was so refreshing! It was our first time eating there and we have summered in Chatham my whole life… we told him this was our first time and he smiled and said “you’ll be back!” And he is so right!! We ordered the lobster roll and it was out of this world. Generous portion, seasoned perfectly and didn’t have too much mayonnaise. The restaurant was clean and runs very smoothly. It looked like we would wait forever when we arrived… but he moved the line along quickly while still giving each customer attention and a smile. Loved our experience at Cooke’s and will...

The food was horrible. It was so bland, barely any taste. My daughter took chicken tenders and fries and the fries were so bland. No seasoning, no nothing. Unusual for a seafood restaurant. I assume all the five star reviews are from people who have not been to better seafood diners before. Chicken, once again, tasted like nothing. Felt like eating a sponge, reminded my daughter of her 3 dollar cafeteria school lunch. We paid almost 50 dollars for the seafood plate which was basically a plate of everything, scallops, fish, shrimp, whatever. Tasted super bland. Quantity was small, got away with it by filling more than half the plate with big fries. We pay around a hundred dollars at other diners and get much much more seafood that actually tastes good and has friendly staff that come to your table with a menu. We spent 95 here for three plates of food that was incredibly bland. We also honestly just felt unwelcome here, the lady taking our order did not smile even once. Greek salad tasted oddly dry. All in all, horrible food. Overpriced, overrated....

After a long day at the beach we were in the mood for some quick seafood. Looked online and decided to give Cooke's a try. We weren't sure we would have enough cash but it looked like they took debit cards so we would be ok. Got there and they had a nice selection of choices. You order at the counter and then they bring the order to your table either inside or outside. Ordered the clan chowder, the fish and chips, a milkshake, and an iced tea. Turns out they accept credit cards so we needn't have worried. The cup of clam chowder was very creamy and was good but I would have preferred a few more clams in mine. There fish and chips was very good. They offer a choice of sides but we all got the french fries which were good. They throw in some onion rings on top as well. The shakes are 24oz and tasty. Seafood isn't cheap but this seemed like a better deal to us than some of their competitors prices. The inside where we ate was clean with lots of booths from which to choose which allows even very large groups to sit together in a cluster. Left happy.

Fried whole belly clams is a once a year treat and most often I try to go to Ipswich for them; however I was in Cape Cod this week and thought I’d try them here. First, the owner was so nice and welcoming! Then he offered me choices, and I decided on the platter, as I would actually get a few more items for only $2 more and the same amount of clams if I bought a 1/2 pint on its own. No extra expense for the tartar sauce and I could choose from different sides, and I chose the corn, which was sweet and no need for butter. The star of the platter was of course the fried clams which were plentiful and tasty and not overly battered/fried. The coleslaw didn’t have enough mayo but that was fine with me. The platter was just under $34 including tax. At another place, a 1/2 pint of clams was $29.99. Even though it was a takeout order, I observed that the dining area was spacious and clean. And, oh, all their staff and servers were welcoming and friendly to me as well.
